I'm a nail polish girl every time. I had gel once and the removal process is what killed it for me. Plus I have natural nails and I like to change my color more often than every 2 weeks. Thank you Suzie it was a great and fair comparison.
Gel polish. It's not even a contest. I would never be able to grow out my natural nails without it. It hardly ever chips and I can cure it so it's dried immediately. I can't stand being helpless for hours while my nails dry and then still mess them up because regular polish never seems to fully dry on me.
😂😂😂😂 I absolutely agree, girl! 💕💕👍🏼
I recently had a severe allergic reaction to gel polish (I've tried different brands!) so I'm back to lacquer and I'm getting so bugged at how fast it chips! :(
@@laceym3662 I recommend finding a really good top coat! It's not gonna last as long as gel, but no chipping for at LEAST three days, I like KBShimmer's top coat the most.
I agree Regular Polish just does not seem to dry on me ever.
@@sadroses2 I love it too. Reminds me of Holo Taco glossy taco but with a better brush. My problem is that with my allergic reaction my nails separated from the nail plate and they were SO short. They're just starting to grow back but I still don't have any free edge so I can't wrap my tips.b
This was very entertaining 😆
I use to love regular polish but the 1st time I tried gel I've never went back. I love gel polish
Oh my goodness! Me too!! Regular nail polish just doesn't last more than 2 days for me and I don't have the time to always go get my nails done. Gel polish for the win!
I do gel or dip for the base in a nude color then do regular polish over the top if I feel like a quick change. The regular polish comes off without damaging the gel as long as you use an acetone free remover, and regular polish is cheaper so I’m more willing to buy it in ‘fun’ colors.
Me, too! Even though gel has a bit more prep and removal time, I’ve gladly accepted that since my nails last weeks now instead of a few days. Way easier to do nail art, too.
same, nowadays my poor regular polishes are only used if I need some specific color for nail art sandwiched in the gel lol gels are awesome
Regular polish makes your nails yellowish if apply too often, agree?
Hey Suzie. Such a fun way to show the difference between gel and nail polish and we got to see the kitties too. See you next week xx
I’ve only used nail polish and I can get my manicure to last 2weeks on natural nails. And with a quick dry top coat, it takes no time at all to dry.
I prefer gel. I hate having to wait on regular polish to dry.
Seche vite changed my life. It’s touch dry in one minute.
@@dawncox4019 That's too fast lol 😅
You're AMAZING! I love your approach to teaching, and I love how you give the full pros and cons of both sides here. This was so informative! Thank you for all the time and energy and planning that went into this video. Thank you, Cameraman, for all the excellent editing and multi angle visual shots. Y'all are such a brilliant team, and I appreciate the high quality content!
Man! The acting on this video!❤ Standing Ovation 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
I loved the Nail Polish vs. Gel Polish switch back and forth, Great Job 👍🏽 camera man.
Hey Suzie, do you think it’d be cool to do a video on how to sculpt lesser known shapes?
Oh yeahhh, like lipstick for example, how do you make it structurally sound?
@@AJ-ms2pm what shape is that?
@@claro_ve6760 its like square, but the tip is at an angle so that it looks like a lipstick. You can google it if i didnt explain well yet
@@AJ-ms2pm sounds cool! Never done anything like that
@@AJ-ms2pm aren't those also called Russian almond?
I’ve always been scared to ruin my natural nails removing gel polish, and I love the process of doing my nails, so yeah, nail polish team, no doubt. Also, the fact that it’s so fast to remove is a bonus point! I love to change the color every few days, I couldn’t stick to the same color for 2 weeks
I always use a gel base and top coat and put nail polish on top. So I have the best of both worlds and no staining. I also never remove the gel completely when I do an "infill" as it usually just stays put until it grows out if I prep correctly.
There are safe methods of removing gel polish that don’t damage your nails, I only do gel polish on my natural nails 💅
I'm the same. The longest I leave polish on is around four to five days and then I have to switch it up because I get bored with it.
I agree only because I know myself and that I will pick my nails, which I know will ruin the nail. I know it can be removed completely safely but I have a strong tendency to pick if there's even a small chip, so I've had to give up on gel for my own nail safety lol. It's better if I use polish so it can be removed much faster to avoid damage from my own picking
Sadly (gel and acrylics) can cause more than just nail bed damage. I used to love them and though they didn’t really damage my nails. I developed an allergy to them and can no longer use them at all without some severe issues happening. It’s not necessarily due to poor usage. In the past several years my skin has increasingly become more sensitive and am apparently allergic to a variety of things including most otc soaps (I make my own now). So yeh, I’m stuck with regular polish from now on but tbh there’s heaps more available than gels imo.
I absolutely love love LOVE this concept of showing the differences, pros, cons, advantages and disadvantages of each! No other nail artist has done something this detailed and educational. I guess that's why Suzie is Nail Career Education lol
I definitely prefer gel, but polish is always nice for a quick application!
Thank you Suzie for your educational videos, watched literally everyone🙏
This is such a cute video. Love that you showed the pros and cons of both. Right now I’m a polish girl because I like changing it up weekly ❤️❤️❤️
Acrylic + polish = 🤌🏼💜
It's easy to change... I can change as per outfit or *theme of the week. + colour range and I can mix and make new colours😫💜💅🏾
Suzie eating handfuls of popcorn is my favourite part 😂
You should do another one of these alter ego videos only using acrylic or polygel. Which one is better?
Beautiful cats, by the way!
Colored acrylic vs dip powder please!!
Not everyone has strong natural nails so gel to the rescue! Yes, the removal can take longer but it's part of the process which I enjoy. Plus the advantage of gel over polish is when you want to stamp. If you stamp and mess it up or just don't like it, just wipe it off with acetone or alcohol and you won't mess up your color.
I looked up this video hoping to hop on the gel wagon. But then it occurred to me, I enjoy variety, and matching my nail with my outfits. So I tend to want to switch my nail colour up every few days. Being stuck with one colour for weeks sounds aweful to me, and it would look mismatched with some outfits I may pick. I think I'll stay with nail polish for the sheer fact that I get to indulge in my constant need for variety.
Gel polish for long wear and regular polish to change weekly.
Loved this video! It was so much fun 😊 I just purchased your files set and I am so excited to try it Suzie! Thank you for educating us and for all your wonderful products!
I really loved the style of this video. Great job as always!
Great video Susie, loving the gel attitude 😀 xxx
Awesome video!!! Thank you Ms. Suzie, and you too Mr Camera Man / Editor!!💜💖💜
Your attitude on both sides cracked me up. Great way to show the differences, pros and cons of both. Thanks for posting!
I love this video!!! You were so into character lol. With more than 20 years of experience myself I totally know what are you talking about 😄
Loved this video!! I always use gel polisch but with a peel base. Removed in seconds and when one chips I have a new one in no time ! Love the durability of gel polish, normal polish is always chipped or damaged the first day with me !
Do you have a recommended gel peel base? I tried gel polish stickers for the first time and LOVED them, but I honestly cannot deal with the removal times and process of gel polish, so if there's a good peel base, it would be AMAZING.
I looove the Unt peel base. I want also to try the Holo 🌮 one (✷‿✷)
@@trex-mepo-climbs i always only use products from the same brand. My gel
Polish is from Pinkgellac so my peel base is also theirs. I don’t like to mix brands so I don’t get any interfering. This one works really well. Just air dry for 30 sec ! And very easy gel removal with an orange stick ir your fingers
@@creativecheersoffashionlau7364 thanks for the reply! I’ll look into that brand! I’m very new to Polish in general, but I loved the sticker gel experience so I’m hoping to find something that would replicate that for me 🙏😊
Loved this video!! Looks like u had fun making it too! 😀
I LOVE this!!! My go to lately (for myself not clients since they tend to want trouble free-no/ chipping for at least 3 weeks) is nail polish over buffed hard gel. I only have to fill once every 3 or 4 weeks but I can change my polish look as often as I'd like. It's so true that polish can last weeks over enhancements like acrylic or gel compared to natural nails, especially if I use a long wear polish and top coat like CND Vinylux, Essie or Holo Taco. But any will do!! There is something about the "grip" of regular polish to the nail on buffed gel or acrylic that really makes it last...
I love this! I have a pretty large nail polish collection and I've been debating if I want to expand to gels. But since I like to do my nails about once a week, I think I'm gonna keep it old school lol
I was the same way for a long time. But gels definitely have their advantages, especially in times where you can't change colors as often as normal (you're extra busy, or on vacation, etc). Regular polish will always be my bread and butter, but gels do definitely make for an interesting change up, and a nice option for time crunches. Some people even find they work well over peel off base coats.
I was used to change my nails every 2, 3 days and now with gel I have the same habit XD
When I'm into longer period without changing nails it's just because I want to see how long do they last (or I don't have much time).
I also use combination of both products: nail polish, top coat and then the next day I put on some gel top coat to encapsulate the work 😎
When I first went to Gel and started to build my Gel collection I would use a Gel base and top coat and then one of my existing polish colours. The Gel addition would allow me to have the Gel benefits but with all my existing colours. You just have to wait for the polish to be absolutely bone dry before the gel top coat.
@@croc009 high five 😙🖐🏾
Wow! I love all the work you guys put in to your videos! 💫💫💫
You are so cute Susie, I loved this video’s opening scene!
I love the ease of polish but love the longevity of gel polish
I’m 48 and gel polish is new to me. I can say the gel holds up much better. I like to grill foods with charcoal. The real test is when I dig in the charcoal with my bare hands!!! I did this when I was set to remove the gel anyway. The gel polish got scratched on the coating only.
-*this test was on acrylic glitter nails done on a form. 👍🏻
I would have to buff gently and reapply topcoat. Regular polish totally gets wrecked from digging in the charcoal bin.
LOL the test worked!l and the BBQ pulled pork was amazing!!
I’m severely allergic to gel polish, by default I have to use regular polish, but there are great quality and colors now then ever before in regular polish
There’s a few brands of gel Polish that doesn’t have a lot of the common allergens in them
Aww suzies kitties are cute!
This is so cute for a video! Love it! Tilly is sooo pooffy now omg!!!
Your kitties are adorable! Love you Suzie!❤❤❤
Hahaha this was so awesome! Great video Suzie ❤
What a cute video Suzie! I love the colour on the hand piece of that e-file too.
i love your videos, it makes me feel soooo good. Thank you so much
Hey Suzie, love your videos, they’ve been so helpful as a diy-er. I’ve had great success combining the methods, using regular nail polish, leaving it to dry for a few hours, then using gel top coat to seal it all in. It typically lasts me 2 weeks with minimal chipping, though it’s not exactly practical in a salon environment because of the dry time. But just thought I’d share! 🥰
I love doing this with glitters especially. Nothing brings out the shine of a glitter polish quite like a gel top coat 😍
Suzie, you're so adorable! Another great one! Love your cozy socks!
That was alot of fun 😁different... i so look fwd to your videos! Thursday doesn't come around soon enough 🤣 thank you Suzie & Cameraman 💅🙃
Such a Cool video, very informative!!
I love your videos!!
I love this!!
Such a fun tutorial 💙
Love watching your videos tyfs 💗 💖
I hope you do more comparison videos this way... so informative and funny!! "Gels getting a bit snippy" had me rollin! Love you and your videos...tfs!!
Regular polish all the way. I can’t wear anything on my nails at work (medical) so I need to be able to take it off easily. Polish drying time has gotten so much better over the years and a quick dry top coat is a game changer, if I’m painting carefully and cleaning up as I go then I barely need to wait between coats. I usually paint my nails watching tv when I get home from work before a day off and I can have the whole process done in 30-60 mins. I like that it helps me transition from work mode into day of mode ! The risk of allergies is also hella low with regular polish.
Love it Susie...you're the greatest ❤
loved this video! so fun x
This is a great video!!! So hilarious.. you did a great job!
I love this video such a cute idea! Nice job you too!!
Love this video very creative and cute!
OMG one of your funniest videos. Love it!
Ooh, I'm loving those little squares! I'm normally a square nail devotee, but occasionally I branch out, and am currently wearing medium almonds. This video, however, is giving me a hankering for good ol squares again...
Great video and very entertaining 😂
This was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 even the blue vs pink files I DIEDDD
Too cute and informative to boot! 🙂👍
I love this video!!! I would add that there’s way more diversity in regular mail polish (especially among indie and boutique brands) but gel polish is better for nail art.
This was edited so cute! Good job camera man! 🤗
I loved this video so much, it was very entertaining. Tbx as always you're awesome
This was TOO CUTE and still educational. Thanks again Nail Fairy Godmother😘
Super adorable and informative 😊
I LOVE this!! Cute, Creative and INFORMATIVE!
Cute video! I love your channel!!😄
I love nail polish because I can change the colour or finish as often as I like quickly and easily. Everytime I've had gel done I've got bored of the colour and wanted it off in a few days lol.
I've always been interested in trying gel polish but I hate buffing my nails since they're so thin anyways so I stick to regular polish instead. Comes in more glitters too haha
You don't really have to, it might stay for shorter period, but you still get the benefits of gel polish
Thanks for the two examples
So fun to watch! 😊
What a cute video! I really like it! I'd like to apologize but regular nail Polish is my favorite! It's a lot less expensive and I found ways to make it last longer and I can change it out so much more easily and so much more often!
Hilarious! Thanks Suzie had a good laugh 💖💅🏻
Super fun! For me gel is worth the extra work & equipment (especially now that I have a bit that won't take 3 days to get the glitter off my nails -- literally 3 days!). But I will say that the polish/lacquer you used in the video is gorgeous!!
Gel. No question. I’ve been doing gel on my natural nails for a few years. I decided to give my nails a break for a couple of months earlier this year and it was so annoying using regular polish. They chipped sometimes within a day and I didn’t save any time bc I had to sit there letting them dry AND I had to do them every couple of days because I can’t deal with having chips. I love that I can grow my nails long with gel, I love that they never break and I love that my nails always look perfect. I have a drill to assist with removal and have gotten really good at removal and application from practicing. Definitely gel.
How do your nails grow longer with gel ? 😮
I don't feel like this was a very unbiased point of view...🤔 Look out, cameraman! I think Miss Susie has a secret love affair with regular nail polish!🤭 Girl, you KNOW gel polish is SOOO MUCH MORE advantageous than you were putting on! Heck, you were actually THE reason I decided to give in and buy myself a good lamp and start ALLLL OVER from scratch and build a gel polish collection! (Oh, THAT'S one of the disadvantages of gel polish: it's wayyy more expensive, BUT it DOES last much longer... That'd be an AWESOME TEST for Battle of the Polishes- buy one bottle of each, and see which one gets used up first if you're keeping the nail(s) fully and nicely coated constantly, ya know? Like do touch ups or re-dos as needed, but not necessarily the same number of coats, just what's required for full opacity... [That's where I feel like gel has an upper hand: it gives more even and complete coverage in fewer coats], anyways, I think that would be interesting! That might be more of a Cristine thing, though... We might have to get you and Simply together on that one! Lol)
👏👏👏👏❤️
Agreed
I use regular polish and depending on brand/application mine lasts 2-4 weeks easy. Obviously if it's a red or something I don't leave it on that long and I give my natural nails some breathe time before repainting but seriously my regular nail polish lasts a long time!
If any, the only "downside" is rhe dry time. So I pick strategic times when I'm doing something where I won't be moving and/or have the time to sit & relax!
What a fun video❣️ I think both are great! Always love watching you, your the best! ♥️
That was so much fun to watch! Great video!
I'm a mess with polish. I rarely ever did my own nails with polish cause it dries while I'm trying to get it nice looking and smooth. Gel gives me more play time to fix any mistakes.
Love the skit Suzie! it's so much fun 😂❤️ and I learnt so much from this video
I really loved this contest skit. 😍It was fun to watch. I smiled and giggled thru the whole thing☺️🤣
Thanks great info!
Thank you for this video. I enjoyed it. Your cats are beautiful
Cute way to debut the the differences ... I love them both so it depends on the day, the mood, and of course the color ... 😊
I love this comparison video. Also love the holo taco
Love this video!! I always wished there was two of me sometimes!! LOL Thank you Suzie!
I love regular black polish for base coats, over a roughed up clear gel base. I don't mind waiting an hour for it to really dry, it's nice and thin and gives a great background for magnetic polishes.
I keep my nails covered with a clear coat of gel so they don't peel off and they're always protected. If I want color I use regular polish, it comes off without damaging the gel and I can just fill every two weeks with clear without having to remove everything for a color change. My nails only see the buffer once, then they're covered in gel. If I get a chip I fill it by taking the gel back and filling/filing until it's repaired. I've only had to take off my dominant index finger when the gel was stained through. It was easier to soak it off than try to file through it and refill the stains with clear gel.
I love love love having painted nails
That was SO CUTE Suzie! Great video! #TeamNailPolish!
Thanks for sharing!! I follow your videos and love them ✨ .... However I prefer mostly nail polish rather than gel 💫!! But I do know both are good 💙!!
I love those lights in the background!
I use lacquer most of the time but gel color for vacations and other situations where I don’t want to worry about removal/touch ups for a while.
Great idea.
really like this concept of battle 😂 would be interesting to see between acrylic and polygel
This was totally hilarious! Love you girl 🥰
Loved this 😂
Loved this video. 🤣
I use a product called "Make it Peelable" by Asp. I've been using it for over a year now on natural nails. I do the peeling after doing dishes with my nails in the soapy water to minimize damage, and the stuff is phenomenal! I don't have to soak my nails in acetone, and I've even just soaked for 5 minutes. You can peel dry, but it does damage that way by peeling part of your nail at times. No more damage with dish water.
I'm so jealous of your hair!! Just so beautiful 😍
So fun! And educational.
