have you tried the flame version of this real i had it for 4 years its still working good for a 15 dollar reel its not a ice fishing reel i use mine for trout crappie and blue gill fishing on a lite rod
I have not tried the flame but I know it's the one level down from the Viper X. Even more budget friendly! I heard the drag is just as good and that's all we need in ice fishing. Flame is not another version of the Viper X it's a different reel with a different body with less metal material. Great for ice fishing!
I'd love to catch some snakehead and catfish in your region! I believe you can buy piscifun from Aliexpress for about the same price. Gotta love the black and green combo! Thanks for the comment.
Hey Drew! Sorry for dragging this video till today haha. Been a little busy this past winter. I can't wait man! Will be going for river Pike on opening day! Good luck on the giveaway.
Great day fishing today!! That pike was insane!!! The ViperX looks great!! Would look great on my green ugly stick!!!😈 see you out on the waters again soon Tom!!! Was so pumped to see you out there at buffalo pound today!!
Yo Yoon! You seemed like a great guy to fish with. I did see a ViperX on a green rod laying on the ground, not sure who's rod that is lol. I'm sure we will meet again😁
That viper x was mine 😂😈 but a second one would be awesome one the ugly stick as it’s just sitting in my closet atm 😅 was thinking of purchasing another one but if I win one would be even better 🔥 anyways yes I shall see you out fishing again!!
I have the same setup, I run 10lb 8 strand power pro super slick V2 in the bright green! It looks gorgeous! I've caught some decent fish on the combo! I use that set-up as my car rod/travel rod. It's the best budget set up imo
@@DavidStanleymusic good to hear! what kind of fish do you catch with a surf rod? and if it's big fish have you felt any reel stem flex? since it's a graphite composite body material.
I have a couple of the viper x reels paired with the piscifun serpent spinning rods. I have been crushing the small mouth here in Kentucky this spring. I even caught a possible state record chub on one. I have noticed the noise you described as well, but will wait until the winter to tear it apart. Thanks for the review.
I've never caught a smallmouth but I know you need a good drag to play them right as they go acrobatic haha. I took off the spool and the noise went away. I think their overall assembly needs to be tighter and that's what separate an average reel to a high end refined reel. Thanks for the comment Mark! You are entered in the giveaway.
Keep up the great fishing videos! We've got your back and keep them coming. I've been fishing for a long time and never tried the Viper X. It looks like a good little reel.
Thank you so much Wade for the kind words! It means a lot to me. Will keep them coming! Yes I think it's got great specs and feels for a budget friendly ultralight reel, which is hard to find one the market. Good luck Wade.
Hi Tom, I just bought the 500 before realising how much spool size might affect casting ultra light lures. I have an ultra light setup already this reel is to match a xul/syper ul rod. The rod is for 0.3 to 0.8g lures so it will be very light for small creeks, lrf and rock pools. I am deciding whether to send the 500 back to swap for a 1000. The specs say changing to a 1000 gets me 2 inches per wind so is there actually a big difference between spool sizes? I think with the lures i am going to use i might benefit from a slow retrieve. Any thoughts would be great.
Hey, you are casting some nymph fly light level light lures haha. What kind of line and diameter are you casting? Are you trying to cast a decent distance? I would always go for a bigger spool diameter just for ease of casting. By the way, inches per turn doesn't depend on spool diameter but rather rotar diameter. In most cases bigger spool usually sits on a bigger rotar. I think 2 inches per turn of a difference is insignificant but a bigger spool will give you noticeable casting differences.
Viper X, looks like an awesome reel. I bought one of their reels a few years ago and it’s still working fine. Keep up the great fishing videos. Thanks…
I love their baitcaster a. Affordable and really nice for the price point. Something you don’t have to worry about fishing it hard but will hold up and smooth!! I own three piscifun baitcasters and they pretty much match up to quantum’s and abu Garcia products in quality!!

ViperX looks like a good reel for the price point. Thanks for the recommendation
for sure good bang for the buck!
So are the reel foot lengths different as well (ie, does the 1000 have a slightly longer reel foot than the 500), or do they happen to be the same?
It's a bit longer
ViperX very cool giveaway

@@TTangOutdoors how to buy this reel?
I have Amazon links in the video description. You can buy from there.
Great videos! The ViperX looks like a great reel to add to the collection
For sure Kyle! Gotta love the color. Thanks for the comment and good luck on the giveaway.
I didn't know Diawa had 500 and 1000 size reels with "22 lbs. drag" . Really for that matter on much of anything.
Daiwa doesn't have reels in 500 and 1000 size with 22lbs drag... I don't think Daiwa makes 500 size at all.
ViperX count me in
Viper X , hope to win sir
I came for ViperX 😊
Very direct😂 love it
Do you have any of the Piscifun Baitcaster reels? I was thinking of trying a few of them. Keep up with the content man 👍🏼. ViperX
