We can't miss the fact that this was the first complete game in his professional career. His first 9 inning game was the perfect game. Incredible

I watched the highlights of Sakaki's game. The kid was on a whole different level for this game. I've never seen anyone so dominant against their opponent, and I've seen a Randy Johnson perfect game.

@John M MLB is a better power hitter, Japan is the best hitting league. Its not even close.

@John M "I am a stupid American who only follows the MLB"- you
My team's are Canberra Cavalry/Sydney Blue Sox (not when playing each other, bleed orange then), Yokohama Stars, Atlanta Braves.

@John M sasaki has by far the best stuff out of any japanese pitcher ever, even better than ohtani's, this guy can easily be a stud in mlb and they've always had trouble hitting splitters.

*WOW!* What a great story. How can I not be a huge fan of this young man. I hope he continues to make career decisions with prudence and surrounded by his loved ones. I would love to have him in the MLB, but he deserves the love and support of his family by his side. I hope that if he decides to pitch in the MLB, that the team also drafts all his family and friends to be right there beside him on this journey. I can’t wait to see what comes next with him!!!
Edit: already shared this with 10 people. Love it!

Being at the Sapporo Dome while seeing the Fighters walk-off, all the while seeing this news unfold (plus a triple play on the same day!)... it's probably my favorite personal day in my baseball history.
    I love NPB so much.

I noticed that all strikeouts came with 2 balls or less, so thank you for pointing out that only one count went to 3. This is elite content on an elite pitcher. Keep it coming.

I've watched this video about ten times now. Thank you so much for producing it and your insightful analysis. This is truly one to remember. This may have been the most perfect, perfect game ever... WOW! Huge shout out congratulations to Roki Sasaki and Kou Matsukawa, and all the great pitchers in Japan, including, but not limited to, YY, YO, KS, MM, HI and HM. There are some truly impressive Japanese pitchers, and Seiya's starting to shut a lot of people up pretty fast about how Japanese players can't handle MLB pitching too!

That snappy late movement....only a kids arm can do that. Then they get their elbow done, and relearn how to pitch. Good luck to him!

Is there Statcast data available for NPB games (especially Sasaki's last 2 starts specifically)?
That's the next level of data that could prove/ disprove his perfect start (let alone his now 52 perfect inning streak [and counting]).
While it's already really hard to argue against only 8 balls in play, having further data on those 8 would also be nice.

佐々木労基→朗希. By the way, do you think he will be able to deliver as fast as Chapman's 105.1-mph fastball, the Guinness World Record, someday? I am hoping so.

    • @SanFranFan30

I'm sure he could if he sold out for only velocity. His 100 mph pitches look so easy to him

    • @schmuglbubcam
      @schmuglbubcam 2 года назад +5

He probably can, but he never will. As a starter, he should be more focused on going deep into games than pure velocity
