Hey Al. I have the Congressional set that was bought new for me in 1956 by my dad. He also bought the ZW 250 watt transformer. I was 2 at the time!

Very cool. Note the 250 watt version of the ZW came out in 1948. Sometime during 1950 it changed to 275 watts.

A real classic postwar train. Wonderful condition, end-to-end bright stipes, beautiful gold heat-stamped letters. Shiny cars. Thanks for this great video!

I grew up seeing the real Congreesional stop in Newark, on it's way to D.C.Some of the cars had florescent lighting. What a downer.I have the same set plus my green G, Broadway limited set.Someday I plan to run cantenary through out the layout. Thats why my dad bought the set.

Running one of these by a cantanary would be cool to do! I would like to see that when it is done!

I think Marklin has cantinary but, it is in HO only. Will do more research.May have to use LGB.My. father ran a Brill trolley on overhead with stripped wire.I have the trolley and the poles but, the wire is missing to duplicate the thickness.Wish he was still around. He was a real electrical engineer!. My original 1949 layout had 8 remote swiches and dead tracks in my freight yard that became hot with the push of door bell buttons.

So ... "infamous" means bad or lousy. Also, the name of the pullman car is Molly Pitcher.

Well, probably not the best description to describe the set. Thanks for pointing that out.

Where did you come across this beautiful set?

the dome car is MORONIC! The train ran under 11,000 volt catenary and would NOT fit undr Philadrlphia 30th st. station or under the North River tubes into New York’s Pennsylvania Station.
    What an embarrassment!

Lionel took many liberties through the years between reality and whimsical. It was a toy company with trains running on three rail track. The cars are essentially the same as those from the initial aluminum cars that they produced in the previous years for the Santa Fe F3s and modified slightly for the Pensy markings. They were after all selling "Toy Trains", though very expensive toy trains....

Don’t be a hater, just replace it with another coach if it bothers you that much.
