The difference from the original is that Angelina's performance is 100% emotion and soul. She has the gift of empathy to a degree where every song comes across like it is her herself who experienced the emotion of grief, sorrow, happiness which is described in the lyrics. What it is with Angelina is that she doesn't just sing a song. She connects with you and makes you feel the song. I noticed that about her early on. I'm sixty years old. So most every song she covers, I have heard by the original. But back then, I would hear the song,and like it. When Angelina sings the song, every emotion in me opens up, and I love the song. "Perfect" is the perfect word for Angelina. This rendition of the song, to me, is like floating on an endless cloud of pure musical joy form beginning to end. No interruptions, no harsh phrases, just pure music. When I'm stressed I play this and it brings my stress to a virtual end. It's my medicine. Adele is a superb singer/songwriter, no doubt about that, but Angelina's version is my favorite of the two. Angelina's phrasing is second to none, and her soft vocal fry is my favorite Angelina "voice." As I always like to say, NGT judge Mia Gundersen got it right when she called Angelina's voice, "a gift from the universe," and Angelina, "a gift to us all." Thanks for another great reaction.
It is breathtaking how Angelina can take a well known song and deliver it In her own way as though it was her own. I think Adele would just love this version as a compliment and that she would give Angelina just the biggest hug.
"Grace" maybe the best attribute I have heard when describing Angelina. If I had to chose her best cover, (I don't) this may be it. I do not know how she does it, but if I am not in tears at the end of the song, her smile and wave does me in.
When she sings this one it is even hard to breathe she just takes your breath away and you are transfixed, mesmerized. hypnotized, and she has total control until she stops, waves and lets you come back to earth again. Perfection is right ,but she goes beyond that into a realm no one else has entered before and she takes us with her for a short time. Angelina is the total artist she always sets the atmosphere of what she is singing even down to the clothes she wears, to fit the song.
