Praying for thes family thet lost their little Angel! May the good LORD comfort and bless them always for thes tragedy .Remember he is with the LORD protecting ,praying for all of you!Amen My sincere sorry to the little boy family .Big hug from me!🙏😘♥🌷
Father Mike, as usual, you hit the nail on the head - for me. You spoke of someone who lost their son, and that the parents said that he was a gift. I have recently lost my hubby and my beautiful daughter, all within a very short time. Wallowing in grief has been my thing to do. Despite praying for relief, i have found little. Your approach of “gifts from God”, works. God gave me these people for a time. Then i had to return them to Him. You have shown me the other side of the tapestry. I like it! Thank you. (Taking deep, slow breaths of gratitude)
Barbara, this Thanksgiving I want to thank God fo people like you! Who opened my eyes and to have me look at the world differently! May God bring you peace, comfort and warmth for spreading this wonderful message. Thank you!
The part that got to me the most was when Fr. Mike said to not be resentful when losing something, no matter how important, because it was never yours in the first place.
Fr. Mike, bless your heart! Usually I never comment on RUclips, but this time I felt like I needed to say thank you from all of my heart for this video. I was just about to pray before bed time and I have had this thought I need to listen to just one ascension presents clip, and here you are uploading this video three minutes ago and I felt like God just spoke to me through you. ... thank you sooo much for sharing such a wise point of view ♥️ Pax et bonum and I’m taking all what you said with me to pray about it🙏🏻
Hi Father Mike, thank you for this lesson. I will try to not forget it. It strikes a big chord within me because I waste a lot of time every day. God bless you!
I noticed with the people that love the material things of this world have great difficulty letting these things go. When they die they can't take these things with them which brings to them terrible suffering even in death. All things belong to God the Creator even our very lives belongs to Him. He's our judge and it's only Him that decides our eternal fate, once we die the matter is out of our hands. Store up not the wealth of this world rather store up the treasures which you will reap of in Heaven.
I really needed to hear this. Thank you. I have been stressing about a huge life decision because I don’t want to go to college but my parents want me to. This helps me remember that no matter which way I go if I use the time and energy that God has given me, in a way that God wants me to, I will have succeeded in life.
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return.” God does not owe me a single breath. God bless all people who suffer immense losses in their lives. It is not easy but my admirations to those who are able to overcome such tragedies. My prayers are with you. God bless. Thank you Father Mike 🙏🏽
The lord giveth and the lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the lord. I to lost a son 2 days after his 8th birthday. I am so great full for the time I had with him. He is in a better place now which I am looking forward to going to through fear and trembling.
Our family recently was called to the church. We were a little bit of everything before that. It's men like you that had us feeling at home and in the right place. Thank you father.
...the strength here is very evident.....the truth here is very evident...... +listen+with+humility+ ....just listen ....there are graces here..... ......listen..................Amen
"It wasnt mine to begin with". The boldest phrase in my opinion in all the post. True. So I have only to be grateful. Thank you fr. Mike, what a great clip.
Father Mike. I'm a confused Catholic. But regardless. Your heartfelt love of this tradgedy is inspiring. It's soooo hard to talk about this stuff no matter your faith. I just want you to know no matter your individual faith. I want the absolute best for you. As a potential atheist. You're a good man and from what I know of you I love you
I am wathing this, when I am asked again for being open to give my time to my family. When I have a difficulty in giving someone my own time, this new way of looking for my life really helps. Actually, I am VERY thankful for reminding me this. Don't be a Scrooge, be a giver! We are all gonna die, so GIVE (wisely, of course, but generously) as long as you can:):):)
wow. just wow. Thank you Fr. Mike. So it has been a few years now since my grandfather passed away. It has always been a thorn in my heart. A part of me always wondered why did God do this, why at that time, why, why, why. I guess I've hidden that pain away and pretended that it didn't exist. Thank you Lord for the gift of my grandfather and all the time I got to spend with him...
Powerful message. I'm guilty of always looking at things around me as my possession. I know because I struggle with generosity sometimes and realize how much I've been attributing too much power to myself when really, I am alive in the very first place only because of God. Thanks, Fr Mike! And glory be to God, always!
Thank you very much Father Mike Schmitz. Your words have gone deep down my soul and have shaken my insensitivity towards many of God's graces I'm entrusted. May He really change my heart of stone into a heart of flesh. May He also bless you abundantly.
But what if I find it difficult to be grateful because I KNOW that I don't deserve anything that God has given me? I always feel that what I have now should be given to someone else. I can't be grateful to be alive, because I don't even deserve to live, and I feel guilty for not being grateful. It's like a cycle... I know that everything belongs to God, but sometimes I wish that He didn't give me anything in the first place because again, I don't deserve it. Anyway, sorry for being negative, but thank you Fr. Mike for your message. Your videos always inspire me.
It is very interesting to watch this about one year later, after the year we have had. We had no idea how much we had to be grateful for a year ago!! Food for thought.
"The Lord gives, the Lord takes away" we usually use this quote in ref to death, but listening to Fr. Reminds me God owns Everything. I recently wrote on the Root of Bitterness spoken in Hebrews. I'm going to include this concept of Everything Belongs to God, because it revolutionizes the concept of resentment and bitterness. Thx !
Wise words from Fr. Mike as always. One solace to losing a child so young has to be that their hearts and minds never got the chance to be made impure, and as a result there is no question that they are in heaven. Even though I do not know the people Fr. Mike spoke of, God knows them and I will pray that they continue to be comforted by Him and that they will meet their little boy again one day in a place where death does not exist, nor does any loss, only eternal gain.
Thank you. I really needed to be reminded of that right now. May our dear Lord continue to bless that family and give them the strength and perseverance in their choices. I just read in the paper today: Last year about this time a 13 year old girl died as a result of a car accident. Her mother choose to donate her organs. As a result this year at a walk to support those choices. The mother was there, the woman who needed a new heart, the 4 year old who needed a Kidney (she didn't have one), the man who needed a new liver were there. They all wore a shirt with the 13 year old girl on it. 2 more people also got organs. The mother said her daughter lives on in them.
I never comment on RUclips but I just had to for this one. Thank you Fr Mike for your words of wisdom! It's a new way of looking at things. This is a great paradigm shift for me. When I lose something, I shouldn't resent. I should just be grateful for the time that I had it. Especially for family. God forbid that I lose any family but when the time comes that God takes them home, I will just be grateful for the time God allowed me to spend time with them.
I've always thought that those that go away and are with Christ in a way Christ has a piece of us so when we get their all our brothers and sisters will rejoice for us having been thankful to God.
Fr Mike thank you i have never looked at my life in such a way. This video has given me the courage to try and stop smoking and take better care of myself. God Bless you
Thank you so much Father - was dying for a good answer to this and looks like God answered my prayer. I will try to work hard to keep all of this in mind.
I'm currently attending Laudato Si course and I wanted to reflect on being a steward of His creation. I stumbled this and it brings a whole new perspective on us being the steward because we might have the 'dominion' on His creation, but ultimately God is the one who creates - and Him alone owns everything, including us.
Thank you Fr. Mike for sharing your insight, wisdom &, priesthood with us. I thank God frequently for calling you to the priesthood. You help me so much with my relationship with God & my life. I know you touch millions of other people also. God has truly blessed us to be able to experience the gifts & talents he has given you. Thank you & May God continue to bless you, watch over you and keep you safe.
What a wonderful message (for me) today. Being a steward shifts everything! It’s more like being the one who takes care of every. Single. Thing. Including my self. Whatever is in front of me, living with an alertness that even the air is a gift and if it’s good, that’s better. The trees 🌲 all of it. I have a lot of decluttering to do...and recycling. As I am alive. And that means I’m still able to do something for good.
Talking about children i am reminded of Kahlil Gibran 'Your children are not your children they are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself . . . . "
This reminds me of a servant of God, Chiara Corbella Petrillo and her amazing testimony told in this book : Chiara Corbella Petrillo: A Witness to Joy.

Praying you find peace and solace in your walk. 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing. I need to be more thankful instead of feeding my resentment.

Heavy duty truth is the most liberating.

Hi Father Mike, thank you for this lesson. I will try to not forget it. It strikes a big chord within me because I waste a lot of time every day. God bless you!
We are blessed to have Fathers and priests explain to us the narrow way home.

What an inspiration is your perspective, and yet, my heart breaks for you. I am certain you were a most wonderful father to him. 💔

Spot on Padre. May God grant that family the fortitude to bear this most unfortunate loss of their son.
I’m grateful that I found this channel!! 😍

It is no surprise that Christianity and Stoicism have gone hand in hand so many times in History. Good video and right approach to losing someone.
So beautiful

As a small business owner and parent, thinking as a steward of God’s gifts is so empowering and takes away so many unnecessary worry.
I need this today. Thank you Fr. Mike.
