God Is Asking You to Give Him Everything

How do we give God everything? It's obvious from the stories throughout the Scriptures that God is asking us to give him everything but is He also calling us to "sell everything and give alms to the poor" as he asks of the rich young man?
Today, Fr. Mike helps us make the distinction between the sometimes particular call to "give everything away" and the universal call to give God everything. It is certainly the case that each and every one of us is called to relinquish all that we have and all that we are to God's service and to trust Him with everything.

I needed this! Please pray for me and my children that’s ALL I NEED AND WANT. I get harassed for sharing my testimony and for asking for prayers. I want to give up on my life. But God won’t let me. As a single mother I’m so overwhelmed at times because both of my children are autistic. I’m desperately struggling trying to support them and myself my husband passed years ago I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back to the hospital but the mandate is still in place for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid all employees must be vaccinated against covid 19. I’m waitressing and I’m so 🙏🏾THANKFUL to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. But even as I struggle every month, and even though I’m ashamed because of my situation and ashamed from all the harassment. Compassion is Jesus’s way. I have faith that God will provide. Please pray for me and my children. THATS ALL I want. GOD BLESS!😊

This is it right here! My wife and I have a testimony to this: God told us to pack up and leave the area we were in. We went to the new area with no income and it was 4 months before we were able to start working and we had a lot of bills. We HAD to learn to give God everything because we COULDN'T have figured this out on our own. Well, we never missed a payment, always had the money for the things we needed (mind you we told very few people what we were going through at the time so it's not like we were begging or anything). That's the power of God, He owns EVERYTHING so there's no need to worry about anything. Now I have a good job and starting a business and my wife owns a business and big things are happening!

So how do you manage the current moment? You get acknowledged for doing something good, something great; Say it’s all because of God. He is the star of that moment, and you can publicly acknowledge that. But it also means another thing. This moment is God’s; why make God angry and offend him by sinning, even if it’s a venial sin, and especially if it’s a mortal sin? You shouldn’t.

I was raised at a Franciscan school under the guidance of the wonderful Franciscan Friars. Their example of joy, simplicity and detachment was awe inspiring and has stayed with me all my life. I have always had trouble listening to preachers who constantly ask for money, accumulate personal wealth and fly about in private jets. The Lord Jesus I believe in and adore is a simple little poor man.
"It's hard to be a pack rat, it's hard to be a 'bo, but living's so much harder where the heartless people go. Somewhere the dogs are barking and the children seem to know, that Jesus on the highway was a lost hobo."

At times it may be tough to place God first, though all in knowingness, better than not having faith or misfortune to act upon the misguided sense when you’re found to be defenseless against the light of wisdom.

So important in what you said. Remembering our insignificance when we give Him what is already His. I have given and give Him my day and many moments throughout my day I am reminded and so in prayer I do as I have heard from the Saints, what pleases Him most. To surrender myself to Him and let Him take care of everything. Because I'm a "slowpoke"🤗 in understanding what He wants, He's so very much more patient with me. And some moments His grace is more powerful than others. Like earlier today. My hope is that I will always remember, and also, that His Holy Spirit would remind me if I should ever forget, to give all that is already His, back to Him. Also, for the grace to do what He wants with all that He gives. 🙏That's my hope and my prayer.

This video answered a question that comes to me now and then. I live as a religious hermit (for the last 20 years), but I have health challenges, mobility issues, I am blind in one eye and going blind in the other, and I am in constant pain. I really can't sell everything I have and "follow" Jesus. But I AM following Him in an inner journey. As for the "stuff" - I need most of it to take care of this body and mind. One of my personal aims by which I lead my life is to hold everything lightly. So, I am quick to give what I have to someone else, if by giving it away I am not becoming a burden onto someone else. In our materialistic culture, things naturally accumulate, so I regularly give things away to the poor. I am also one of the poor, but not AS poor as others. It is a balancing act. But in all of it, I practice the presence of God and I discuss with Him every bit of it. He is always on my mind. In this way, I live IN HIM. I have, at times, felt like I should give away more, but this video helps quell the overly scrupulous agitations of the mind.
