I love Grim fandango, just bought the remastered version because I wanted to play it again. I played the original when I was a kid and even remember shedding a tear or two. They haven't changed much at all, a few more polygons to get rid of the pixellation and smooth out the edges and some shadows and that's about it, and I thank them for it. I loved the old game, I loved its shapes and film noir feel. I think they made a good decision to keep it as close to the original as possible. To anyone who has not played it but enjoys adventure games, there's a reason it always appears on the top ten lists. With out spoiling it, the story is one of the best ever written and delivered with incomparable style and humour. I recommend it to anyone under the sun.
This just goes to show that they did not have to change the quality of the textures that much from the original for the 'remaster' because they were so well made in 1997/8. I cant wait to get back into this world!
No mistake here. In the HD Remaster, the Shadows overlay the figures, so that they are darker, in the original version, there are no shadows that cover the characters. Cheers, Steve

No matter what version you play, this is not just a game, it's an experience. It's like the OG Book of Life. Oh, and the Remaster was handled by none other than Double Fine, developers of the Psychonauts games. That's awesome!
Ich bin total für Remakes, aber hier hätte man wirklich mehr machen können. Ich freu mich schon auf Februar und Homeworld remastered. Das bezeichne ich ohne Scham als mein Lieblingsspiel.
Hat sich nicht viel geändert, aber mit der höheren Anzahl von Polygonen und den besseren Texturen... sieht das dann doch schon besser aus und mit den Schatten passen die Figuren besser in die Welt :) Aber eig. war das eine gute Idee die Welt nicht zu verändern, weil die so schon sehr Stimmungsvoll ist :D
I feel like they should have remade the game from the ground up with all new art direction that harkens back to the original while still giving the game a fresh coat of paint. the rest of it could have still been the same. but that's just what I think.
So they increased the resolution. It still looks like it was made nearly 20 years ago. A proper remake with today's graphics would have been much better.
The remaster was made so the game would be available on modern hardware. The original doesn't really work on modern PCs anymore. I think that it's good that they tried to make it as close to the original as possible with just a few changes.
This game didn't need a remaster since the original looks great even after 20 years. Im glad all they did was clean up the images and smooth the pixels. That's all it needed. Considering also that the original assets were near impossible to obtain again.
