So I was in a hurry editing this one...and mistakes were made! It's Mineral Bluff, Georgia, NOT Mineral Ridge...and this train is part of the Tennessee Valley Railroad, NOT the Chattanooga Valley Railroad. OK? We good? Good! 😬
Before 2020 the Hiawassee Loop ride borded at a playform they built in the Hiawassee-Ocoee State Park south of Delano. However the SP didn't have much parking so you got your ticket and waited at the Historic Etowah L&N Station, then they'd bus you down to the park. The new boarding allows you to skip the 10mile school bus ride, but it does look like you got lost. You now pass that park and the older platform a mile or two into the trip. There is an original 1813 Army log blockhouse in view of the train. It was moved from Old Fort, TN and has sat on various spots since.
Happy Birthday to your Dad! Such a great video! We lived near the Delano area for about a year and attended church at Crossroads Baptist Church in Delano. It is beautiful but quite desolate there for sure. We now live in Chattanooga about an hour away. All your episodes are great but it was especially fun watching an episode that was filmed close to our home. Happy July 4th to you both🇺🇸
Happy Birthday Mr Bachman! I pray im as active at 88 as you are. Other than Jesus, what's your secret? Love all of your rail videos Scott. Thanks for another great video.
@@joyfultrails well then, I should live to be well into my 90's! Having 3 generations on my Dad's side to live to or past 92 gives me a great start. Seriously, my parents are 92 and 87 (in September)....I pray that I am active and going like your dad when I'm his age.
Thanks for sharing the video. I’ve never ridden that one. Yard art was unique. Hope to go there soon. Maybe even ride the train one day. Keep filming, hope you reach a million plus subscribers one day. Wish your Dad would get himself a trike and ride the bike trails with you. Y’all make a great team.
Oh and I enjoyed the train footage… Beautiful country. My wife and I took two train rides out west from Northern New Mexico to Southern Colorado on the old narrow gage railways. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks! Oh man, I would love to ride those trains out west! The problem would be getting there and back. If you don’t have money on hand to fly, it’s a pretty long drive from South Carolina. 😬
Fun fact about Mineral Bluff, GA: It’s old Louisville & Nashville depot is on the L&N’s own branch line to Murphy, NC, the same town the branch line of the Southern Railway that the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad now runs on ends at. GSMR even actually used to run all the to Murphy from 1992 to 1995, though they haven’t run to Murphy since then, and stopped running any sorta trains to Andrews, NC just 16 mikes east of Murphy in 2010. You can even find footage of GSMR during 1992 here on RUclips. Sadly, the L&N’s line to Murphy has had its rails northeast of Mineral Bluff completely torn up and there’s no evidence of them ever being there. I wish that wasn’t the case though. Could’ve made for a fantastic rail ink between NC and GA as it once did back in the day.
As usual very entertaining. The only thing better than a bike ride in the country, is a train ride. Happy Birthday to you both. May the Lord continue to bless you.
Thanks for another great vid! I have been saying Hiwassee wrong for about 30 plus years. Maybe it's a southern thing but I've always said and heard it pronounced HiAH-WASSEE 😂 I'm 64 years old and the changes of the past 4 years personally and in society are making me so nostalgic and craving the simple things and pleasures in life. Your channel helps me fill that void. Keep it up!!
Well, there is also a city named HIAWASSEE, Georgia that we passed thru on our drive. So maybe that's what you were referring to! Thanks for the kind words about the channel. I appreciate it. :)
We had a great time riding this train in your company! And watching this video afterwards gave us additional information we didn’t know, too. The couple from Europe.
Just watched your video. It was great. We live in georgia and are now planning on driving up there to take the train. We wonder why it was only a 3 star though?
Probably because some of the other rides we have taken had more dramatic scenery and a stopover where you could get out in enjoy a small town or some awesome “scenic stuff.” But this one is definitely enjoyable and you’ll have a good time! Hey, 3 out of 5 is above average! 😂
Not many people know this, but I am an action and adventure movie star. So I opened the window and climbed out on top of the train like Indiana Jones. 😂 Ha ha… No, there were windows, since we were in what they called the globe car, there were windows that I could shoot through, that overlooked the train. I wish they would clean the windows better. They were pretty dirty!
With all the talk about certain politician's age issue, i keep saying it is not the age, it is the mental and physical condition and your pop is a perfect example of being an active/health person into your late 80's and even 90's, living a great life.

Beautiful video on a 4K TV. Love your dad, he’s spry for 88. 👍🏻
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
We enjoy your videos and appreciate the work you put in. So love watching you and your dad. Happy Belated to Fred!
Thanks, I will pass along…

Loved the train ride and you and your Dad are adorable! Train ride might be a 3 but this special video with your Dad is off the chart!

How did you get those shots from the top of the train car?
