Hi Dave. Great review! As another viewer commented below, you should include ‘ease of access to third row with two car seats in place in second row’ as a part of your reviews of family oriented vehicles. In some vehicles, the second row moves forward with car seat in place and that’s really convenient.
Hey just an FYI. If using the seat belt instead of the latch connectors, you need to pull the belt all the way out until it stops. When you release it back in it will make a clicking sound to let you know that you changed the mode of the belt latching. Then it will lock automatically instead of due to centripetal force. Oh and we love out Keyfit seat. Oh and congrats on the baby!
One thing I would note about the Pilot - having purchased a CPO 2016 Pilot EX-L with 41k miles just over a week ago - the onboard fuel mileage calculator is about as far off as I have seen on any car. I was thrilled to see my average mileage staying in the 23-24 mpg range, and even saw it top 30 mpg after one fill-up and 25 miles of highway driving; but I was noticing that it was still going through a tank much faster than it seemed it should. I finally decided to check the mileage the old fashioned way, filled up and reset the trip meter, and when it came time for a refill I did the math. I had driven 344 miles, and it took 16.9 gallons to refill. So yeah, 20.4 mpg. Except the computer was telling me it had averaged 23.9 mpg in that same distance! Now, I know all companies inflate their EPA estimated mileage, and I know the computer can only estimate the mileage, but that's a pretty huge gap IMO. My '13 Altima has always been 1.5-2.0 mpg off (on the high side of course), and I thought that was bad, but this... Anyway, just wanted to share this with anyone who may be considering the Pilot. Btw, I really like the Pilot so far, it drives well, has more than enough power, roomy interior, pretty much everything you've heard good I've found to be true. The only gripes at this point are there are a few things in the rear that rattle over rough roads (I commute into DC every day), and the seats are not as comfy as the Altima's.

I agree, the Accord we just bought has the push button shifter in the model with the larger engine. No thanks. Wife hated that and I felt the same way. Seems it makes you look down just to shift. We bought the Accord Sport with the smaller engine and basic shift lever. I don't care if it is connected to a little hamster down there who does the shifting. It's another idea some engineer came up with thinking it is better. Try being stuck in a tight parking garage and having to constantly look down to shift from R to D.
You forgot to discuss whether the 9-speed transmission still sucks. We purchased a 2017 and we are still regretting it. The transmission issue is HUGE, even causing premature wear of lower arm bushings and the rest of the front end components. Had the "bloggers" done more thorough reviews about how bad the transmission tuning and gearing was, and how it didn't really match the engine, we would've stay away from the Pilot. I mean, these are the things that I expect you to talk about if I am a subscriber.
Many are reviewing these suvs and mini vans..but for families with babies infants toddlers..I’m sure the middle seats are reserved for them with the baby seats attached in them most of the time. I’m wondering how easy to get into the 3rd row with the baby seats latched on those 2nd row seats?

Great reviews. To everyone out there, to make an honest living on the Internet, you have to subscribe, if only to compensate the Everyman Driver for the time he spent making the video....in the cold no less and not some heated warm indoor office. Think about it.
Ya nothing exciting , he seems like a Honda fanboy and typical of most RUclips reviewers (vlogers) never have anything bad to say . Usual "everything is awesome!!!!!!" Just what car manufacturers want to hear.
All this information is great but I need to know how comfortable it would be for someone who is 5’3. I always wish the peddles would move up instead of having to move the seat closer to the steering wheel. Especially these days with airbags.

I don't even like the shape of new its like Odyssey old pilot style was like box style make it very slick and sharp nice looking i also like gmc truck shape too but not GMC brand
Really great family vehicle as with 2 of my friends have new Pilot. One has the Elite and the other has the Touring with 8 seats. Really love the drive on road and features. However reliability is bit questionable.
FYI-The Everyman Driver did NOT finish installing his son's car seat. He did not lock the seatbelt. By not locking the belt, his son is in danger of injury or worse. Everyman Driver, please read your car seat AND vehicle manual to fully protect your precious little on in the event of a crash.
great video indeed and very realistic with the little guy involved, as we are in the market for a mid size 3row SUV. what is your pick if you had to chose between the 2020 Honda Pilot or the 2021VW Atlas 3row your opinion is very appreciated thank you
Love the new Pilot, except I can’t stand looking at the “Atari Space Invaders” speedometer or the “typewriter” transmission select buttons. I’d even take the RAM oval dial selector, over that odd design.....Wow. I own a 2003 Pilot with 275,000-It runs fine. Nice review!
Okay so two things. 1. When you buckled in the baby. The seatbelt should have been extended to the fullest after fastening the lap portion of the belt then feed back into the role while listening for clicking sound which indicates that it is in a locked position so that it doesn't have any play I am only mentioned this hoping that you don't actually drive with the baby the way you buckled him in. 2. I thought the Toyota Highlander was a direct competitor of the Honda Pilot I could be wrong with this one I just didn't hear you mentioned it. My comment supports nothing negative.
When you were driving the Honda pilot is the steering loose I owned a Honda before and every time I was on the freeway I felt like I was going to lose control of the car once I got up to hirer speed Or does the steering tight the faster you go I have been watching your videos and I like them a lot thank you
My Pilot’s steering is amazingly precise for a larger vehicle. Better check the steering fluid level and or fluid quality to rule it out first. Also check tire inflations.
36k miles on my 2019 pilot and transmission is slipping. Been 2 months waiting on the parts that are on "national backorder" still no definite ETA. Screw you Honda
Everyman Driver Doesn't hurt to ask for subs. I'll be honest I am guilty of watching your videos without subbing. I subbed this week. Been watching your videos since May of this year. channel is great, would really like to hear what you went with for your family.
Sir, I really enjoy your video. I have a question though regarding med size SUV's. I want the most durable, relaible & dependable wide space that can accommodate 6-7 passengers easily. I checked the cx 9, but did not like space is very tight plus no ventilation (AC) for third row, during summer could be a problem. What is your advise..?? My budget is $40.
Why did most auto reviewers spent more time discussing the features and interior, rather than the drive capability? Was the AWD in 2019 the same as SH-AWD or CRV type?
Fred Reitz highlander has better suspension, and better second row room, but the highlander screen sucks as far as glare, and also doesn’t have automatic folding rear view mirrors, and tire monitors
This is basically an Odyssey minivan with smaller 3rd row.. The old Pilot had some cool factor with the looks, now this gen looks more like a minivan proportions
@@everymandriver thanks. I ended up getting the 2020 ascent limited because it fitted my budget. I had the 2014 odyssey touring but I guess I was used to the subaru awd and safety systems that is why I took it also. The complaint is not enough room in the trunk and the lack of DVD player. But my kids are grown and my youngest is 5, 9, 17 and my oldest is 20yrs old. So I use less the 3rd row . Good choice with the pilot especially the 3rd row space and the trunk. But the pilot touring was too expensive for me unfortunately. Good review though.
why honda remove centre seat on middle row its completely throw me off I was thinking to upgrade mine but no I can't do without middle seat I like 2005 to 2013 model
It is a roomy SUV, the great feature is that the Pilot doesn't have a ridiculous punishment room in the third row as Toyota Highlander and even have a better finishing in the interior.
@@tonychau1983 yes, Sorento. Buy new with a warranty, no worries over Pilot tranmission problems or an old Highlander. I'll bet you will pay less too avaiiding the Toyota Tax.
Its the best in its class. just the best. especially for its price. Toyota is smaller, Sorento is much smaller, Nissan has unreliable transmission, Explorer 3rd row room is smaller and the resell value is low, Durango is unreliable, Traverse has too much plastics and the resell value is low etc......
I would never buy another Honda after all the direct injection problems I had putting gas in my oil in my CRV. Mine wasn't a Turbo either, and was a 2016
The market is not a fan of the redesigned Honda Pilot, and has chosen the Toyota Highlander instead Honda Pilot sales last year: Around 160k Toyota Highlander: 244k Honda's redesigned CRV also is not getting it done. It has been passed in sales by Rogue and Rav4 last year America is not impressed by the vehicle, whether it is medium or large
Just because a vehicle is not the #1 selling vehicle in the segment does not make it a bad choice. The Highlander is a great vehicle, and everyone knows Toyota pumps up their sales stats through leasing. The Pilot does have some advantages over the Highlander: Acceleration is better in the Pilot Rear Seat legroom is better in the Pilot AWD system in the Pilot is superior MPG's are better in the Pilot
I'm Tired of Being Right All The Time! I’ve seen many Honda CRV’s on the road to me they are selling just as good as the Rouge although I haven’t seen many RAV4’s
Toyota is a great option....unless you truly need 3rd row seating. The pilot offers more room for 3rd row passengers as well as more storage when folded down.
I agree with Sparklander on a couple things. I ended up returning a Pilot (long story but not on Honda’s part, this was a dealer deception issue). I ended up happily with my Limited trim Highlander. But Pilot does have a much roomier 3rd row and the acceleration is SLIGHTLY better IMO. Overall though, I love the Highlander better though! Toyota reliability, the luxurious feel vs the Pilot, the technology system is more my level, etc. I still find the Pilot to be a decent buy.
Worst car I have EVER purchased!!! I bought a brand new Pilot because I live on a dirt road and after reading the reviews it sounded like the best car for durability however I have had nothing but problems with this SUV the electrical has shorted out while I am stopped at a light the screen has gone black the struts have been replaced twice by the dealership with under 40,000 miles on it cannot handle the dirt roads So disappointed. my last two vehicles were Ford edge SUVs and never a problem with them. Will be buying another Edge.

I'm wondering why every vehicle reviewer only do the highest trim level review since most of people out there are purchasing mid trim level vehicles.
It's because manufacturers and dealers want their best options represented (hoping buyers will spring for all the extra & mostly unnecessary stuff to have the same car in the video)
Same reason you never see a base model in a dealer showroom.
I have a 2019 Pilot EX AWD, amazing family vehicle. Biggest selling point is safety. Winter is no match for the intelligent AWD and Honda Sensing makes freeway driving effortless and very safe. Keeps itself in the center of the lane and a safe distance from cars in front. I love it!
Hello Dave, I had watched your videos, in fact I watched you touring and viewing, I purchased Honda CR-V 2018, and I’m loving every minute
Just bought a 2020 Honda Pilot touring awd. Love that car
The only gripes at this point are there are a few things in the rear that rattle over rough roads (I commute into DC every day), and the seats are not as comfy as the Altima's.

why honda remove centre seat on middle row its completely throw me off I was thinking to upgrade mine but no I can't do without middle seat I like 2005 to 2013 model
Have fun in your go cart

Wow, a very nice man van. The pilot has gone away from being an SUV.
Was never a real suv
It is a roomy SUV, the great feature is that the Pilot doesn't have a ridiculous punishment room in the third row as Toyota Highlander and even have a better finishing in the interior.
I just bought the Honda Pilot EX-L and it doesn’t have the Navigation system, does anybody knows why? It has everything but that
Does not come with that trim level unless add on
Offroad?
Yeah I know
I bought a 2019 new pllot touring mistake very very very rough ride
What about the honda passport?
It's not out yet. No on told you this simple fact?
Only a two-row vehicle.

The babies seatbelt needs to be pulled all the way out in order for it to be locked in correct.
Motor Trend test this and the Sorento was better handling than the Pilot and Highlander.
What did mototrend test norm?
@@tonychau1983 January Motor Trend dot com.
@@normt5463 a kia no thanks
@@tonychau1983 yes, Sorento. Buy new with a warranty, no worries over Pilot tranmission problems or an old Highlander. I'll bet you will pay less too avaiiding the Toyota Tax.
@@normt5463 what toyota tax?
Its the best in its class. just the best. especially for its price.
Toyota is smaller, Sorento is much smaller, Nissan has unreliable transmission, Explorer 3rd row room is smaller and the resell value is low, Durango is unreliable, Traverse has too much plastics and the resell value is low etc......
gets one baby buys a pilot. 2 babies you get a bus? just joking btw, nice family you got there.
I would never buy another Honda after all the direct injection problems I had putting gas in my oil in my CRV. Mine wasn't a Turbo either, and was a 2016
Reliability for Honda's are going down. Toyota still the best!
Dad has gloves on his hands....while the baby didnt have socks OR gloves??.....
You are look like movie actor
Put socks on the baby! ☺️
I rode in the back seat of one. I'm 6'1 205 pounds and the seat belt was too short to buckle.

The market is not a fan of the redesigned Honda Pilot, and has chosen the Toyota Highlander instead
Honda Pilot sales last year: Around 160k Toyota Highlander: 244k
Honda's redesigned CRV also is not getting it done. It has been passed in sales by Rogue and Rav4 last year
America is not impressed by the vehicle, whether it is medium or large
Just because a vehicle is not the #1 selling vehicle in the segment does not make it a bad choice. The Highlander is a great vehicle, and everyone knows Toyota pumps up their sales stats through leasing. The Pilot does have some advantages over the Highlander:
Acceleration is better in the Pilot
Rear Seat legroom is better in the Pilot
AWD system in the Pilot is superior
MPG's are better in the Pilot
@@sparklander Apparently, the word of mouth on the Highlander crushes that of the Pilot.
The People disagree with you
I'm Tired of Being Right All The Time!
