Hi mark! I love your channel, and I agree with you that 1969-70 Elvis was at the top of his game. I love the beautiful suits that he wore in those years. I think the concha & the ones he wore in Jan-Feb were outstanding. I'm thrilled about this unseen footage that Baz is working on. Stay safe, and God bless! Tanya
Thanks Tanya! I never take it for granted when someone mentions that they enjoy my channel- it inspires me so I am very appreciative! 😊 Elvis was simply flawless in these years. This movie will be big! 👍🏻
I'm so excited for this upcoming work. ❤ I hope it can live up to our expectations and that Baz knows how to make the most of the material he has in his hands. And let's hope to see something really unseen. We are only interested in Elvis in the best possible quality...no frills, digressions and useless extravagances .Pure and simple ELVIS 😊 😂
That is very unlikely to happen. Baz has to cater for non fans too and non fans will not buy into something that is 10 hours long, neither will the streaming TV platforms. He has to edit the footage into some kind of coherent story/documentary so I believe that around 2 .25 hours will be what Warner’s will be happy with for TTWII snd in the assumption that Baz treats TTWII and EOT as separate entities and does not do a documentary that combines both.
Agreed. When you love someone, you don’t disrespect him by keeping another man/woman. Besides you show respect even when the individual is dead and gone.
We live, we die. Some Elvis fans have naturally died, but more Elvis fans are joining the club and new fans are being born. Elvis Presley will live forever in the hearts of the population of the world.❤
This footage has never been lost, Warner has always known where this footage was at. We saw the first batch of videos was released in 1992 on the, “The Lost Performances” and then again in 2000 on the special edition of, “That’s The Way It Is”. 😊
@@PatracatThat’s fantastic!!! It such a great doc/bio of, at that time 1992 of the “That’s The Way It Is” and “Elvis On Tour” footage. It’s a crying shame that original VHS and Laserdisk never made it, officially, on DVD/Blu Ray!!! 😊
Hi Mark, good commentary. I agree with you about Elvis's jumpsuits. For a long time I didn't appreciate them at all, thought they were too flamboyant, but those first plainer versions were great. Mind you, when i saw him in 1976 wearing the Arabian/Spades jumpsuit, I hardly noticed it, I was too focussed on his face and body moves! You mentioned the feeling of excitement building up to when Elvis first came out on stage in 1969. Believe me, that energy never waned, no matter how much older he got. The fans screamed just as much in November 1976 as they did in the 50s. His charisma was off the planet❤❤❤❤

Great topic Mark, I'd say there's next to nothing new in the teaser trailer, but the snippets of footage it does show that haven't been officially released were only ever available in poor quality previously, its absolutely never looked as good as this!
Hi I’m 100% agree with you about TTWII my favorite too… My favorite Elvis era is 1968-1971 yes he was at his best… How old is your daughter?? Big big news from Baz can’t wait to see this.. Have a nice day Fan from 🇨🇦👑🎤♥️

Hey Tracey, sorry to head of your health issues😢. I am not as bad, but previous cancer and arthritis have curtailed any plans to travel, so like you I have filled my house with Elvis❤❤❤
It is my understanding that us fans have probably seen most of this footage before albeit in inferior quality and 😮sometimes with the time codes showing or blurred out. That said it’ll be great to see in great restored condition, with Baz’s touch added. I expect fast paced, dynamic editing job
I think you're right, the trailer was existing footage we've seen before. I don't think he will air any of it for free yet, it is still being created. The fact it is 1970 (& 1972) is very good news, I wish it had been of 1969 but as we know that wasn't filmed. Travesty. But I'll take any new Elvis we can get. I can't wait.
Exciting news hey if you get to come to Memphis this summer let me know I live in Southaven Mississippi just about 15 minutes away from Graceland I am so excited for the movie to come out take care for now
Thank you for this. i'm guessing there will be some footage that maybe has not been/never been seen before which may apply to people never into Elvis & those who are quite young & unfamiliar with him, but I'm guessing it's going to be footage for "older" die-hard fans (especially those going way, way back who have watched just about everything) that we've seen, i.e., his comment about Mario Lanza, the rehearsal studio, & so on. The footage quality may be improved but to be perfectly honest, this die-hard fan since 1954 at age 11 is not someone who will jump to watch it. One example of a video that was fixed up some time ago is backstage where he's joking around & talking about being nervous. That's been around for years, & then someone/for some reasosn chopped it into pieces & of very poor quality until someone beautifully put it all back together so we can all nicely enjoy it now. To be honest, I'm just not that kind of Elvis fan who goes to see Luhrmann or Priscilla films, or read books written by 3rd parties. Thanks for your time.
Hey Carol, I hear what you are saying😊 but we can live in hope...I would like to see all the bits of film that ended up on the cutting room floor as each movie was made. It has probably long since been destroyed, but...❤❤
@@Patracat Absolutely, except that for me personally, if some of that footage isn't really worked on & enhanced, I would not watch it. As example, 8mm film from an audience member from '69 Vegas -- there's really nothing to see, it's all black, can't see anything, pieces of a song are missing; same goes for some of the later yrs. from audience members -- bad audio, visual from miles away that is extremely fuzzy. You get the point -- there really isn't anything to watch. Now if these bits of footage can be worked on so that we can actually see & hear good film, then Yahoo! Thanks for your response.
@ We shall see. But I'm always skeptical with some of these projects, example is the recordings with the Philharmonic, which I think was wrong for him but believe was a money grabber thing. As for a fun, energetic Elvis -- I think seeing a bit of the other side of him is necessary too, like the little bit where he showed a moment of frustration in the studio while rehearsing "Bridge....' Thanks so much.
Hey Mark, I can't help but think that Baz Luhrmann will hold back the release date till August 2027 to coincide with Elvis' 50th year of passing. But that does seem a long time away. What do you think?
--------------- BAZ ---------------- THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO DO IT RIGHT Please do not make the same mistake of mislabeling Elvis as a Blues Only artist, like you did in the Austin Butler film. Newcomers walked away thinking Elvis was merely a blues clone vs being an innovator and contributing to the evolution of our Global Music. Rock & Roll was founded more so with the blending of Country Music and Blues. This is what Elvis did. As this clips hints at, Elvis absorbed all genres as a kid, not just the blues. Elvis was incorporated so many elements of other genres, yet we didn't get any impression of it in your film. Listening to the very first recordings at Sun Studios & immediately beyond, Elvis covered: Pop, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel (not just minority music, but traditional European Hymns), Classical, Opera, in addition to blues. These were all his influences. No one, more than another.
I'm pretty much sick and tired of the reluctance of the estate or whoever it is that has let this footage sit in a vault for 50 f'n years to waste away! There is no artist and fanbase like Elvis' that deserves to enjoy it! I once heard a rumor that the Colonel did, in fact, have Elvis' shows recorded, but that his decline in health as time went on wouldn't show Elvis in a good light, so they were never released. Idk if that's true, I actually doubt it, but who knows?! Someone does!!
Exciting news Mark 😃
