Girl cats are definitely better than boys at catching mice. Boys are okay if they are true barn cats.

Good video and smart thoughts on the groups. Our homestead farm had milk cows, meat cows, chickens, ducks, hens and pigs. My grandpa would yell at me when I was younger as the pigs were my buddies. LOL I would get into the pen and chase them because they were getting fat. I didn't know any difference. When I would feed them, the piglets would have the zoomies until I got in and played (chased) them. We farmed wheat, barley and oats. I had great times there.

Lovely video! The information was useful and interesting and the scenery is beautiful!!!!
I think everyone likes chickens, but since you have a big farm, have you considered getting bees too? Aside from the honey, you can also harvest propolis and bee milk /it's said to be superfood/.

We have talked and talked about bees. My wife is very allergic, has an EpiPen. I could put them way out back away from the house.
The setup and all of the equipment is expensive.

So I was right rabbits are next haha. My indoor cat is useless, he can’t hunt even if his life depends on it (that breed is like a little lap dog- Ragdoll) . My Dogo Argentino is excellent, she chase off fox and almost got it but I recalled her to save the animal

ive been reading about how humans are not adapted to eat meat very well and how there are a lot of health hazards with eating meat. not sure if totally true. i think morally speaking, if i had a homestead and had to eat meat, i would have a no-kill policy, where i only eat the animal after it has died of old age. they say this makes for very tough meat but as u say, they help out a lot on the farm, and if u let them live to old age, they can benefit u and their kin in ways that modern civilization has forgotten. i mean just boil the meat in a stew and chew a little harder. also im inclined to think that letting nature run its course as opposed to trying to control it is usually the best option. let your animals run free, and if they get predated, thats nature. dont neuter your pets either. obviously you have neighbors so its harder to go competely natch. but making animal bridges or crossings under roads is one way to deal with that if you can get support from the local town... or just let them figure it out. id say its better to get more wild varieties of animals that are stronger and smarter to begin with, so they dont get predated or fall prey to cars in the first place. or maybe the best thing is to let nature be the guide, and if a cat comes asking for food, thats nature giving you an animal. ive been reading about vegetarianism and it seems like u dont need meat to live. i know you only have so much land, and its probably impossible to forage for wild edibles on the number of acres u have, enough to sustain yourself. check out 123homefree channel
