There is little historical information about Jesus’ early life. The Gospels mention his birth and a brief episode from his childhood when he is found teaching in the Temple at the age of twelve (Luke 2:41-50). However, after this, the New Testament provides no information until Jesus begins his public ministry at about the age of 30. These “lost years” are a mystery, and there is little evidence to confirm details of his life during this time. Some scholars suggest that Jesus may have spent this time in quiet obscurity in Nazareth, where he likely worked as a carpenter or tradesman, in accordance with the description of his occupation in the Gospels.
