I love this video for a good example of dog behavior of a slightly annoyed, and stressed dog, trusting its owner. The lip licks, the looking away, the yawns, these are all de-escalation, avoidant, stress reduction, cues and attempts at communicating. Typically, when a dog stares at another dog, and keeps eye contact, that is issuing a direct challenge. It's dominate behavior. Same when a dog shows its teeth. When an owner gets down on the dogs level, stares in its face, locks eyes, and shows their teeth (smile) the dog has to really overcome a ton of natural communication miscues. It has to fall back onto what it has learned by paying attention to your behavior over a long period of time. It has to rely on the relationship built on trust, rather than what it would understand those behaviors to mean. It was hard on that pup and it gave every clue it could. But trusted momma, worked through the confusion, and was gentle in addressing the situation. Great dog! Great example of a solid companionship built on trust. And great example of a dog communicating it's stress and confusion. 🤘🏼
I'm used to watching Keyush's videos, but I hadn't comprehended the sheer size of him compared to us until this video. He's a healthy, well-groomed boy.

It's amazing that we have bonded with dogs to the point it's really like we know what they are saying. A certain bark, or whine, a particular look, etc. and we know what they are "talking" about, just as they can understand our tones, moods, facial expressions and so forth. A huge percentage of humans do not deserve the loyalty and unconditional love of such wonderful animals.
