The way you're editing now is actually quite a common thing in the industry. Often somebody would rough cut a project, then someone else would clean it up, and often someone else entirely will fine polish it at the end!
Just saw it now while looking through older videos. Funny you named the video making a like while doing 75% train tracks 😂 but it love it! Much to learn from! ❤
I think 2 more videos on this series is great. One for public transport and one more for overall aesthetic.wish this city could be the new varaday beach
Interesting note on funding for things like public transit and bike paths. In my hometown there were a bunch of old railways that were long out of use. The city removed the rails and paved over them turning them all into bike paths all around the city and even added extra paths to extend the bike path network. It seemed like a great idea and got a lot of support. The city put a camera on what was expected to be a higher use section of the paths. On days that were good weather and should have been high cyclist traffic, the camera picked up 24 cyclists and 11 joggers/walkers on average over 12 hours (8am to 8pm, I think). That is why funding is not good in America for such things. No one wants to spend millions of dollars for 35 people per day. My city just doesn't have the demand for it, but I can see the need in more congested areas/larger cities where pedestrian/cycling makes sense. However, I do admit that if cycling in my area does suddenly become more popular, we already have the infrastructure in place so maybe the city was thinking ahead for once...but I doubt it. I think they just didn't do any research beforehand. I always thought it would have been more successful to restore the old rails and implementing a city-wide trolley system instead because the city does see significant bus use.
In the UK former quarries are converted into lakes, so the lake creation project could have a back story of a former ore quarry! Cost would not be an issue from the money generated from Ore industry :D
Probably too late for you to see this one, but if you want to do a resort like Stout's Island, you can do it with pedestrian districts. Since the goods/services required for the pedestrian district are 'teleported' from the service point to the locations in the pedestrian district, you can have the service point on shore, connected to your road network, and it will work fine. (I'm not sure if you'll need a small police station on the island, but the rest should all work). Then, you just need to set up a ferry line to get passengers to the island, and it should work as expected, and thematically you can just assume the goods are coming across on the ferry.
Also since this is a modded game, you can use block services to get that police/medical etc. coverage on the island (that's the main reason I got them, the other being so I could set up services in my more detailed neighbourhoods without just having a jarringly out of place service building).
You were talking about Amtrak, the reason that Amtrak prices have went up over the last 40 years is because they are a privately owned transportation system. They do not get Govenmental help like other transportation groups like freight rails, airplane companies and so forth, They also have to rent the use of the tracks they use from the freight companies and well we all know that they are money hungry so there is another reason for the higher prices. This is why Amtrak is trying to get their own rail systems. I hope to be able to hit your lives but timing just doesn't allow me this most the time. Have a Blessed day.
A little disappointed I missed the stream. Would’ve suggested to start the water source from the lake from a different point. Higher in the mountains there was a water source that wasn’t really being used and you could’ve carved through the mountains to have a natural source and add more if needed. Love the video by the way!
It seems strange that the lake is surrounded by a river. Wouldn't it make more sense for the lake to have its furthermost boundaries defined by the river? such a thin strip of land wouldn't last long either
At a lake that I go to quite often, there is a sandbar and people park their boats and swim. I thought you should use the new asset that you made for VB to make something like that. Also there is a really nice resort too and that could use the Resorts DLC. #LAKECHUCKLES
i feel its important to note that youve romanticised wisconsin to me, a guy who has lived in the same tiny british village his whole life, to the point where i am slightly convinced that it is heaven over there
Verde beach is the favorite of mine, it's what connected me to your content. The story telling us awesome. Clear water County and Nicolet bay are also good. Even though VB has a close connection, maybe since it's Vanilla.
at 2:21:33 -> thank you for being grounded, cars are not a thing on themselves, cars are driven by people, unpersoning drivers is just another form of 'othering", drivers have needs, if those needs are met by other modes of transportation many will use those, but in the end not everybody will have those needs met at all times and will probably need to drive
Really loved your stream. I'm a real night owl from UK. Meteors obvz killed the dinosaurs, so I would have prefered 'Jurasica Lake'. BTW love your voice...but music...na, I'm quite happy to put on my own ambients (Don't risk a strike, or sounding samey as others). I've also attempted to spend 10 mins sorting out elevations that ended up taking more than two hours lol. Also CSII should mimic the recent excellent mods we all use as base, but we all know it won't. Some UK stats: Speed limit is 70mph, but most drive at (least) 80mph. Train travel should be cheaper than driving, but it costs twice as much and will take more than twice as long! (If they run at all). PS. I'm currently attempting to design 15 minute cities that we can never leave and enjoy for our entire lives!? Thanks and take care m8.
If a "space rock" hit the ground hard enough to create a crater as big as those in Meteor Lake, the whole event would pretty much flatten everything on the map. Molten rock creating a shockwave as it travels through the air, water evaporating explosively, the ground shock of the impact itself, a heatwave similar to that of a small nuke, and all of the debris thrown around and up into the air... Good thing those impacts happened a few million years ago, right? ;-)
May I just say (and yes I'm 5 months late to this series, I'm ashamed.) if you played Anno 1800 Phil, I would binge all of them in one day. I love that game.
I'm a little disappointed that you mentioned not using AI for storytelling because you don't want to be replaced. Even though you're seemingly fine with Illustrators and other visual artists being replaced, since you do use AI for your character pictures?
You know what Cities Skylines doesn't have which it also looks like CS2 won't have...is... government buildings. Village hall, town hall, city hall, etc.
Passenger rail will never work in the USA unless someone is willing to invest in independent track at least in the medium haul city to city routes. That makes them train competitive with the "puddle jumper" planes to maybe earn enough money to begin building passenger rail for the longer haul routes. The railway in Florida looks interesting, but can they survive unsubsidized......
I keep having a crack at playing this game differently and I just can’t figure out how to start. Im so used to just building a giant grid and then the town looks so bland.
Don't know about Europe, but in Australia the speed limit is **the limit**. Some people do still speed by maybe up to 10-20kph over the limit on freeways, but they're a very overconfident minority (usually young dudes) and if you get caught or snapped by a speed camera there are heavy fines. Hearing that going 70mph in a 65-zone is just considered norrmal in the States is absolutely wild to me. I don't think I could ever drive in America.
its funny. RUclips suggestes me a video of a hearing in Madison on public transport with a afro american guy called philip g. I hide the name here, to avoid a facereveal of city planer playes, if he is this person i saw here. The voice sounds like him =D
As someone who has been binge-watching this series after the fact, it's super disappointing to realize large edits were done during a live stream. Live streaming is such a stark difference from the style of every other curated video in this series that I probably wouldn't even have watched it real-time if I'd have been a follower back then, and watching live streams after the fact just flat out sucks. I tried skipping to the productive parts, but it's so painful. Feel like I missed an important part of the series. I'm just skipping the all-anticipated transit episode and just considering this playlist a loss 😢👎.
Real. I love this series, and the whole idea of fixing broken cities, but stepping off expertly crafted content, right into a livestream of all things is really demoralizing. I'm surprised CPP didn't edit it down, or upload a separate city tour to sum up the stream.
The way you're editing now is actually quite a common thing in the industry. Often somebody would rough cut a project, then someone else would clean it up, and often someone else entirely will fine polish it at the end!
Yeah, lots of creators also upload full streams on one channel and then edited content on a different channel so everyone can see what they want

Well, they do get a bunch of govt funding for projects but they still do not make any profit. They just aren't in a place that is profitable at all

Watched the live stream recording. Very entertaining. Keep up the great work.

Watching this at 3:30am from Australia made me double take whether or not it was live :D
Watching the Lake start to flood, and then you scrolling away to another part of the city was painful.
I didn't realized you had a new editor, at least from my point of view, it totally get your style and bits
