- What is a confidence interval? It is a guess, and educated one. It is a "parameter catcher" and you hope to catch the true parameter.. but you never know if you actually did, because you don't know which p-hat you randomly got!!!
You are the Billy Mays of statistics.
Amazing. Billy Mays probably could have been a great teacher!!
Thank you, sir! I appreciate your enthusiasm...the other videos gave me critical Zs.
Lol! Thanks!
I have learned more in two of your videos than in 50 hours of lectures from my stats professor. Thank you.
our stat professor normally gives us formula at the beggining , not the understanding.. that's the problem.
four years later and that's still happening
You are the sun shine of Statistics. Brilliant
Came for the math, stayed for the hat.
Thank you for seriously saving my ass during finals week, your videos are a life saver for college level statistics.
I just showed this to my yr 12 Maths class. They giggled about the p hats, and true p, but came out of the lesson confident about finding confidence intervals, so win. :) I love your enthusiasm
Absolutely the best video I have seen on this topic, really great explanations and emphasis on important things!!
Ahh wow, I have been trying to understand confidence interval for hours now and then I find this video and it made it so clear! Thank you!!
Incredible, beautiful...thank you, thank you, thank you! I can see myself from other subjects in you but couldn't get a hang of what was happening in Statistics till I watched these....thank you so much!
sir ; you are the defining meaning of what a teacher should be. your best and only destiny is to teach; to do anything else, would be a loss for us all
I'm a 50 year old woman going back for my MBA and I absolutely love your videos. I'm using them to supplement my Quantitative Analysis course videos because it's been years since I took stats - and these videos are helping make sense of it all in my current course. Keep on teaching!!! And thank you!
you are such a great teacher!! REALLY appreciate your efforts and videos man
You are so good at putting visuals in the viewers minds. The examples you give are awesome. Also your enthusiasm, hand motions, speech, eye contact ect. Makes the 15mins feel like 3. Wish you were my teacher
Thank you for this video. Your humor and enthusiasm kept my attention! It was truly helpful!
Thanks! Wish I had, had teacher's like you growing up! Lot's of energy and VERY simple ways of explaining. Thanks again!
Dude it's 9 years later and you're helping me my university statistics unit. Thank you for all of your help!
I love your enthusiasm man, hope you continue with this passion!
Awesome. Dude, you are awesome. I should be giving you my tuition instead of giving it to UH
These videos are SO awesome!! They help me a lot and they are so fun and entertaining to watch.😂 Thank you for helping me make a 100 on my Confidence Intervals quiz in AP Stats!!!!
thank you!! the idea is so simple but rarely do people explain it clearly
Phenomenally better teaching than most stats resources I've found, which are dry and don't give proper treatment to tricky concepts. Thanks
Love all your Videos!! I am SO thankful to have these, made the whole difference in my understanding of Stats!! I love you personality, you make it fun and easy to understand the subject!!! Keep teaching, keep making videos. 👍🏻
This was very useful and gave me a lot of clarity about the concepts!
Thank you for putting in so much effort into this! :)
thank u so much....i have been cramping my head to understand this...and u made me understand it in a few minutes..u r truly a great teacher....thanks!
Very clear explanation. Better than anything I have come across so far. Thank you
This is the best explanation of what a Confidence Interval is! Thank you!
This video is great!! I'm not a math person so I struggle to pay attention in class and while watching videos. Your passion and charisma was refreshing and gave me clarity.
I just wanted to say that this was a fantastic video explaining confidence interval. I am studying Biostatistics and I felt so "confident" ...aha...going into my test after watching this video. You have quite a talent for teaching! Thank you for your help!
I love your videos! Great explanations and excellent energy, you are a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much!!
I love your enthusiasm; it is engaging and a speed I can keep up with. Your videos are helpful and getting me through college statistics (:
Heck of a lecture! Once again, this instructor breaks the code.
Thank you for your explanation and perspective which greatly helped to clarify this confusing subject. Much clearer now! Also,I love the hat.
Perfect for my low attention span
Bless you, man! Thanks for saving my head from exploding.
Thank you so much ! This was the best video I could come across to clarify my doubts. Not a bit boring and I am 95% sure no one else could teach is a better way :P
Calm the hell down, and take off that hat : )
That being said, I LOVE your enthusiasm! Plus, after a minute or two I actually NOW understand this stuff. Well done teacher.
humour, charisma and statistics.. what a personna !
u r awesome man :)

Excellent method of teaching. You make someone want to know the meaning behind it rather than just, "How do I calculate it?"
love love this video! haha. great energy and very clear to understand. thanks a lot!
Love your videos. Thank you for putting them out there.
That summary of statistics at the end is the BEST I’ve ever heard. 😂
Excellent video. First one I found that I feel clearly explains confidence intervals
You are the f’n man!! Thanks a lot professor.
Please make more videos explaining, I don't know why but I only understand it when ur explaining! Even the videos you make 6 yrs ago was helpful to me. Anyhow, thannnks
"Imagine me standing in a p-hat"
Great video, thanks
The best video I've seen in statistics so far. (You have to know the binomial distribution first to get the whole picture)
Thank you! I had been struggling to understand the theory behind confidence intervals but the following line of thought you used did the trick for me.
"_Start off_ by _supposing_ that you know μ. That tells you what the distribution of x̅'s will look like (Gaussian around μ)! Suppose that you happened to choose an x̅ that is -1 SDs from μ. When you construct a 95% CI, it'll contain μ. Suppose you happened to choose an x̅ that is -3 SDs from μ. When you construct a 95% CI, the CI won't contain μ. Repeat this line of thought for different x̅'s and you'll see that the constructed CI will contain μ for all of the x̅'s between -2 and 2 SDs from μ, which is 95% of the x̅'s."
what an incredibly talented teacher!
this is amazing~Hope you will make more video like this!!!
thank you for explaining this! Stat can be elusive!!!
Literally giving a standing ovation from my dorm room!
Best part @13:02 hahaha! Great video, extremely helpful!!! the GOAT of stats!
As soon as I saw the hat, I knew I was going to love this video.
Oh it’s so helpful. Thank you sirrrrrrrrrrrrr you’re marvellous
Fantastic explanation my friend. Thank you for spending the time to develop the tutorials you've made.
Thank you so much for that great explanation! But, to clarify, how do you reconcile what you said at 6:16 with what you said at 12:18? I think the latter is the correct explanation of CI, but just want to be sure I'm not misunderstanding something here. Thank you!
You're a spaz and a hero all in one :) thanks so much!!
You have the best explanation man!
u made my day^^ amazing explanation!!!
Very effective and motivating. Thanks!
awesome teacher. love the energy!
Great.......I appreciate your explanation.....
Awesome! Never laughed so much during a math class that I learnt much in :)
Excellent video. Thanks man !!
That high-pitched "MEAHHHHHHN" at the end scared the fuck out of me.
This video was AWESOME!
love the beard and the hats!!!!
I love your hat!!!and your video! xD
I love you man. no seriously, I LOVE you.
Thanks bro. I appreciate the video. I got the concept and the formula. Not just plugging numbers into a formula blindly
You are the best teacher ever 👏👏
You rock man. You are awesome
13:02 Best moment in teaching history
appreciate you crazy stats professor
Great vid. Best part was at 10:55. Thank you so much for explaining this in clear terms.
i don't care if its not accurate but the confidence interval that students understand after watching ur video is 100% for sure.
I paused it 5 seconds before the video ended to go back to the HW problem I was working on, but then said to myself, "This guy is funny/weird enough that he's probably going to say something a second before the video is over." So I pressed play and what did I get......"MEA!!"
15:22 ".. the thing is you don't know.. you will never know.. get used to it.. that's what statistics is like what we do is we just kinda say sort of what kinda might happen we hope or think.. could"
That is actually a very accurate definition of Statistics!
You are my new favourite person. Thank you
Excellent lesson.
you are fantastic. my graduate school prof has included your videos in the power points.
These are Great!

Your videos saved my stat grade
Best math teacher I've ever had! And you've only taught me for a few minutes.
great video and excellent explanation, Thanks
+MrNystrom Thank you for the video!!! It helped a lot!
The question I have is: can I interpret the confident interval as, I am XX% confident, that the population mean/proportion lies in this range ?
why are you so happy haha I like that
this guy wears the best hats
You are a great teacher. I would like to nominate you as one of the best teachers in statistics. You are enthusiastic, you like teaching and most of all you know how to clearly make people understand the concepts. I wish there were more teachers like you out there. You are providing a great service to students.
Unfortunately, colleges/schools are full of so called teachers who do not know a thing about teaching. Just because they have PhD it does not make them a good teacher. Actually, many of them don't even like teaching. Colleges and schools should be more careful in their selection process. Such teachers become a source of annoyance to the students.
