I have no idea why the captions for Chad Beguelin and Nick Blaemire halfway disappeared, but I'm DEVASTATED about it.

Fun fact, LMM originally intended for Chip Zien and Joanna Gleason to be the ones in the kitchen during Sunday, but they couldn't make it, so that was when he stepped in.

Right - especially appropriate that they’d have been in the kitchen, as they’re best know for playing the Baker and the Baker’s Wife in INTO THE WOODS.

The cameo that makes me tear up the most is the real Julie Larson in the audience at the end. I know she was a major part of the production and so to see her watching the continuation of her brother's story was so beautiful.

I can’t get over how much I loved this movie. I got to see it in a movie theater the day it came out in a room clearly filled with theatre nerds. Such a good time.

I cringed a bit when I heard that I said something like, "if Jonathan's Marfans condition had been diagnosed, he could have easily survived." I misspoke there. Officially they say "New York State medical investigators concluded that if the aortic dissection had been properly diagnosed and treated with surgical repair, Larson may have lived." Big difference between "may have" and "easily." Sorry about that all.

You were more informed than I was, The only thing I knew about it was that Javier Botet has it and that makes him an excellent contortionist, I had _no idea_ it could be deadly.

I am very familiar with Rent (seen the film and know the songs) but I never knew that Jon died, let alone the day before the first preview. Because TTB show was semi-autobiographical anyway, i think it was important to include the detail that he died in the movie. It makes it so much more poignant. Without that detail, the movie might have just come across as self-indulgent like "oh, here's a starving artist treating his friends and gf badly because he can't get his show on broadway". The fact that Jon died, and specifically HOW he died, just really hit home how important getting his work out there was for him. He was literally singing for his life, or as Lin would say "writing like he was running out of time" even though he didn't know it.

I only knew about it because Idina Menzel tells that story before singing “No Day But Today” at concerts.

That would be Chris "Shockwave" Sullivan, one of the best beatboxers in the world. He was opposite Andrew "jelly donut" Bancroft as the doormen at Michael's apartment building. You also forgot Anessa "Young Neese" Folds and Utkarsh "UTKtheINC" Ambudkar. All of which are in Freestyle love supreme with Lin. Utkarsh had the line of the movie in the focus group with "sunrise."

Wonderful job! Your Easter Eggs are very thorough 🙂
A few additional things popped out to me - in their first exchange, Jon calls Michael an “angel on earth.” Robin de Jesús made his Broadway debut understudying Angel in RENT. Also, the Joe Papp shout-out felt like a wink to HAIR, one of Jon’s biggest influences for RENT, since Papp developed and produced HAIR off-Broadway with the Public Theater. Lastly, shoutout to Joel Perez in the workshop cast! He’s from the original cast of FUN HOME. But, as you mentioned, there’s probably a lot more buried we have all yet to recognize.
This film is SO GOOD, and so for US 🎭🎶

I am not even a theater kid (I have always loved musicals but wasn’t apart of the community) I saw Wicked when I was 9 and it changed my life. I spend my days writing songs and share with no one it just feels good to do so - I very much relate to Tick Tick… Boom!
Within the past year due to this and West Side Story (2021), I have been digging deeper into the history and I’m just astounded.
Love the video! Thanks for making me aware of more and more!

I also discovered Tick Tick Boom in my first year at University when I was struggling academically and with my sexuality. I have got to say singing along with 30/90 was so important to get my emotions out in my dorm room. Of course I thought being 30 was ancient at the time.

Hello other Clark's!😜 (mine adds an E!) I watched tick tick boom on Saturday. I cannot get boho days out of my head to save my flipping life, and I absolutely started to bawl during is this real. Other than that, I have Why stuck in my head, which I keep referring to as Michael and I in my head for obvious reasons. That being said, I had never heard anything from Tick Tick boom other than the behind-the-scenes features on the rent DVDs. So I went to listen to those songs sung by Jonathan Larson, and I was highly impressed. But for Raul Esparza, I think I've only heard one or two songs that I've liked him singing. One was there's a sucker born every minute. I can't remember the other one. But it sure as hell wasn't a song from Tick Tick boom because I also listened to those in the past couple of days. That's just my subject of opinion, but I thought I'd share it. That said, I absolutely adore Raul on TV, and he's an amazing audiobook reader.

Vanessa was bad in HSM? Meh, I didn't think so. She's pretty standard for the age she was when she filmed it. But she has gotten so much better as she's matured.

First I thought "Why" was a eulogy for Michael, who had just essentially told Jon about his death sentence, and that hit HARD, especially given the kind of stigma gays receive back then and it's like a funeral AIDS victims wouldn't able to afford because of their estrangement from their family. Once I read the lyrics it's actually more just about him and it kind of felt like his friend's imminent death became a lesson for him, and I donno it just felt kinda tone-deaf.
