I love this! I felt like I was getting whiplash, going from the wave of cynicism surrounding Rent in recent years, to the sudden deification of Jonathan Larson's genius again after this movie. I'll admit to getting swept up and swayed by both narratives. This video reminds me to think of the balance between both sides. That there are flaws to his work and him as a person, but also there are reason to why he should be remembered and celebrated.

I think everyone has flaws, and I think it makes things more interesting

I'd like to thank Spiderman: No Way Home for making me discover my love for Andrew Garfield and this movie.

7:55 When I first watched Tick Tick Boom on Netflix, I had very limited knowledge of Larson and I had never heard of Roger Bart. A few months later I went to see Back To The Future - The Musical in London and 🤯. I regularly watch that TTB stage performance on YT.

I STILL wish Raúl Esparza was included in the film adaptation esp when everyone and their mother was in Sunday

With all the recent bad bio films that have come out, I have recently come to the conclusion that Tick Tick…Boom is probably my favorite bio film.

    LOVE IT!!!
One of my favourite rock theatre productions is HAIR. It really deserves the love and attention that only you can give it ... Hair launched the careers of so many new artists; Joan Armatrading, Melba Moore, Steve Curry, Elaine Page, Diane Keaton, Marsha Hunt ... but the 1979 film version was a disaster!

Kevin's insight and attention to detail, let alone his personality, writing and editing skills, could make him one of the leading voices in theatre of his generation. Well done.

While coming from a theatre background, I always felt most musicals, while wonderful for the time they were made , didn’t feel real, Tick Tick …Boom was my first introduction to his work. I have since read and seen Rent , a much darker and more real show, but I feel Tick Tick ., Boom pardoned the pun Tick all the boxes, I felt a connection with all the characters, and the score was fun and touching. It has inspired me to start writing my own musical. Thank you for putting this video together it both entertaining and informative.

I have recently found your channel and watched all the videos except for this one. I have such a love for Jonathan Larson's work that I was worried that the movie was going to be a disappointment. But in other videos hearing how much you loved it and how much love you have for Jonathan Larson's work as well gave me the assurance that it would be great. And it was! Thank you for your hard work!
