Love it Chad! Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Just subscribed to your channel and absolutely enjoy the education. I have been using both products but have not been sanding off the sealer. Do I need too? What speed on the lathe would you recommend for a glossy friction finish? Thanks.
Chad, thanks for the video. Is it necessary to feel the heat as in other friction polishes? Also, is it recommended to take the piece to a buffing wheel for any reason?
Hey Lowell, no need to feel the heat, and personally I never use a buffing wheel. Hope that helps and thanks for being patient with my response.
Would you have a different recommendation if dealing with soft wood? Thanks
Since this video I have started adding in another step- Yorkshire abrasive grit original in between the sanding sealer and the friction polish, for an awesome end result (you only have to sand to 240 as Yorkshire grit breaks down as you use it and is like going through multiple grits. Have been having amazing results with it :-) But other than that no, i really like this process regardless of the wood
Chad. I’ve been trying different Friction finishes, but not Mylands yet. What about long term for items such as pens, salt and pepper shakers, bottle stoppers?
Yes Mylands is great for that. For a friction finish it is mostly all that I use, and the sanding sealer really does make a difference
Is the sanding sealer necessary? Would it work just as well if I went straight to the high build polish?
I used to go straight to friction finish and then once I used the sanding sealer once, this is how I will do it every time cause it really does make a good difference :-)
Great video Chad, as always. Is this friction finish last long once applied?
Thanks so much! And yes it does, I prefer it most of the time over CA finish actually
What was the material the blank is made out of? Whatever it is that finish looks great.
Thanks! It's stabilized spalted maple
@@ChadSchimmel thank you. Great product .
Can the same process be used on hybrid blanks?
Yes absolutely
