Hi Gaynor, a new subscriber here from Norfolk. You have certainly given me a new beginning after you were dropped into my feed last week, what a wonderful find you are. I have signed up to the 30 day sketchbook challenge so thank you for that recommendation but mainly I have been binge watching your videos and getting back in my art space with new enthusiasm and extra courage to just have a go. As you say there is so much out there to see & inspire but once it has caught your attention you need to do something with it to express what you have seen. The sketchbook is a perfect place for recording my version of it and building up practice and confidence and at the moment for my eyes only. Love the free experimentation on the large sheets of paper. They make stunning paintings in their own right. Just pop them in a good frame with a mountboard and voila!! The exhibition looked amazing. Just adore the landscapes. The cyclamens are tricky. I was thinking that the white of the cyclamen flowers probably has lots of subtle colour hidden in the shadows of where they overlap and you could probably inject some subtle lilacs, mauves, blues, greens, pinks etc. And maybe slightly more intensified colour from the background, in between the blooms, would help emphasize them. But what tremendously exciting beginnings these are. Have fun playing! Fantastic, wonderful stuff - simply quite delicious, actually. Have a great creative week.

Words defy what joy you bring to early morning Thursdays, but I'll give it "a go!" Witnessing your engagement when exploring fresh subject matter, tackling something new with such abandon, the unspoken "what if" headspace, which we as artists crave is incredibly inspirational. You may be physically alone in the cabin or at the kitchen table yet I have a sense that you're speaking directly and intimately to the viewer as if they were in-person cheering you along. I applaud you for tackling the cyclamen (and white cyclamen no less!), which are a fond memory of years gone by for me. I love, love, love the shots of the pop-up; being able to see a collection of your work in this way emphasizes your artistic voice and style. The whole time you're painting I'm thinking contrast my dear, contrast. You have a light background and trying to put on white flowers. I think you need a darker background, at least within the area of the petals. I did like the painting with the yellow back because it does give you the contrast needed. I love how the paintings evolved so fun to observe the process. I'm challenging myself to be brave and do some drawing without looking. I so enjoy how you do it and what happens but I've not tried before. TFS and wishing you a lovely week.

What a bit of joy to watch on a cold and dreary day! I was messing about on a canvas board and had swirled a load of colour on. Left it to dry weeks ago. Now I’m inspired to dry and paint one of my plants over it

It might be nice to try this on a black sheet or some other colour to help the whites really pop, yet allow the background to bleed through to create texture and shadow. I really enjoy watching you work. Might I suggest that you get clip on microphone so that you are easier to hear.. I find your sound echos.
It has always been hard for me to understand that warm colors, Yellow, red, orange and combinations always with varying amounts of white, come forward and cool colors, dark blue, purple, green and combinations with black recede. Shadows also have color and the same rules apply with shadows. All painting, be it representational or abstract or all of the possibilities in between, are about the illusion of creating shape and space with depth in color or value on a flat plain or the denial of that illusion. It is a struggle. Thanks for sharing!

I fix and dry the charcoal with a spray fixative 😊
