I watch every week, but seldom comment, so this is a comment for all those weeks I have enjoyed but failed to say just how much I love your videos. I am just learning to paint, and I learn a lot from you, Gaynor, as well as being buoyed up by your enthusiasm and delight in trying new ways to express your bubbly personality in paint. Keep going and I expect there are some others like me who also don’t get round to posting our gratitude for your presence on RUclips. Thank, thank you. Carolann.
Hello Carolann, I feel so very lucky to receive such kindness, how wonderful to sit down and read your words. I hope you, too, keep going, the beginning is an exciting place to be.....all that exploration ! Have a lovely week 😍
Gaynor, you are such an inspiration, painting every day, going on vacation and drawing and painting the marvellous sights around you. Here (last year) you are in Dorset with your 7-days-a-week concertina journal, and doing the most marvellous drawing of the view through your cottage window. When I grow up (as an artist - I'm probably older than you) I want to be like you! 🙂
Your sketching skills are top notch. The sketches are good enough to stand on their own, but then the colors added really makes the picture feel finished.
Oh I'm so pleased that I waited all day to watch the video. Usually I save your videos for Thursday night when Himself goes out for "band practice", but most Thursdays I can't wait and watch at least half of it and then I'm cross with myself that I haven't got the full video to watch. It was so worth the wait this week, I've never painted plein air, not sure if it will work in South Africa as it's Spring and the air is still quite dry, but maybe I'll try, I can always use some medium to keep the paints wet a bit longer. Thank you again for all the inspiration you are to us. It;s like getting a letter from a dear friend. Have a wonderful time in Dorset
I thought of you and Himself this week, we visited the street market in Bridport and a group of men were having the best time playing a mix of instruments ! I couldn't find a spot to film so we listened and just enjoyed the moment ! X
A very happy morning today, I’ve taken the day off 🎉 and I’m binge watching your videos in bed with a coffee and my sketchbook and pencils to hand while journaling things I can do to improve my own current art explorations. Thank you Gaynor for such great content ❤❤❤
Hi Gaynor, I'm on a short break in Amsterdam in an upside down house, the lounge high up amongst the pretty roof tops...a wonderful sight. Brought my sketch book and paints along for a bit of plein air fun...you inspired me! Friday is windmills and clogs then an evening cheese and wine boat trip. Saturday Van Gogh Museum. Note to anyone wanting to go there...book in advance....I'm having to pay over 100 pounds for a small group session as it was fully booked😮
Hello Vanessa, Amsterdam is beautiful, I'm imagining canals in a concertina !!!! We visited out of season and got to see Van Gogh at the usual price, that seems outrageous !!! Have a wonderful time X
Yes a concertina of canals would be great! We saw the 7 bridges all lit up tonight..reflections on the water are fab...took photos along the way ready to paint when home. I didn't know 12 to 15,000 bicycles are pulled out of the canals every year!!! Could it be the tourists fed up of nearly being run over that chuck them in ?😂
Hi Gaynor 👋. Hey….I love your sketch book drawings and paintings of the cabin…they are Great!! Love the effect when you work over them ❤️ looks like so much fun! Gosh…you have so much wonderful work now…a treasure trove of loveliness ❤️ You’re on Fire and getting really fearless with your work…Whooo Hooo!🤸 🤸♀️🤸♂️ Cannot wait to see where it takes you. 🙏 All the best, have a wonderful week. Already looking forward to the next instalment 😊
Thanks Gaynor as always. I am doing small sketchbook inspired by Yayoi Kusama. Known as the Dotty lady. I went to exhibition in Manchester recently. Love the sketchbook now as never bothered before but learnt the value of using for other works later. Have a wonderful week x
So enjoyed watching this, and love the way you edit, makes it so fun to watch. Your photos of the cliffs at Berlin Gap were amazing. Your long painting (now framed) is beautiful! And concertina, so inspiring. Your weekly videos are a true joy and pleasure. Thanks so much!
I’ve gone back to your beginning and have watched every single video! You are so inspiring and your enthusiasm is contagious. I have done more sketching and playing since watching. The more I do the more I want to do. Thank you so much for sharing with us all. Thank you for letting us jump around creatives know we are not alone in having several things going at one. So fun! Wishing you a lovely week.
Hello Felica, "jump around creatives" I love that 😍Thank you for watching every video and leaving lovely comments but more than that I am thrilled that you are fired up to make more art 🥰
Oh, love it when there’s a new video from you! 😊 always so inspired when I’ve watched it. Your approach to the plein air sketching and paint made me want to do the same - thanks again, and have a lovely trip 😊
I am slowly working through your back videos! I am so enjoying them! I have learned not to binge on favorite people! :D I love this kind of book. I was shown how to make them years ago. I usually use a full sheet of watercolor and they are a delight when finished! I do think that unless I can find a full sheet, I will try using two or three pieces of smaller paper this time and use folded strips of paper to glue them together instead of turning at the corners. That will give me one longer strip. Being able to unfold it flat and see all of the pieces is fun but I am game for something different!
Please take to heart. Your work is perfect. If you are happy with it . when I do my shows what I have learned I gently ask if I can take a survey when people pass by I ask: let me know which one caught your eye first this way, I don’t have to bring my whole house with me the next time. What I have learned is that sometimes it depends on the type of person, it depends on what they came to the show for, it depends on what favorite color there is. It depends on a lot of things - it is not your work that needs to change; perhaps the variety that is offered but not your work! thank you for the great inspiration you are providing your fellow artists. Much success for your art and you deserve it.
I just LOVE your channel & always feel so inspired by what you do. What a great idea of the 7 days a week journal. This would be a great project for a small group of ladies I paint with. Just keep sharing with us ----you are like a ray of sunshine!!!!!
Gaynor, yet another video chock full, edited and presented with panache - a mini documentary on you as an artist every time. Is it any wonder that over my morning coffee I'm asking myself, "Is it Thursday yet?!" Your productivity continues to amaze and motivate me. There's so much to comment on! I'm adverse to plein air yet admired you working with the paint tubes to abstract the cabin - so gutsy and cool! The 'Trip to Whitby' piece is beautiful, as are your small pieces. And finally I'll say I love that you share photos and video of your get aways - I'll probably never see Dorset but it looks lovely. Please know there are so many bits and pieces that I didn't mention yet love. Be well! ♥
Heartfelt thanks for this generous comment, I feel very blessed that I am having the best 'art' time and receiving all these kind words! Have a wonderful week 😍
Off to make a concertina to take on my upcoming vacation! So inspiring and a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing your travels which otherwise I could never experience.
I love how much play is in your process. Also, I need to try painting using the tube as a crayon like you do. Looks so fun! Can’t wait to see what you end up doing in the little home made concertina.
Love how your always trying new approaches always keeping things fresh….. sometimes when I’m in the flow of creating something, I’m working more without thinking and just doing and I think a lot of your practices are about getting into the flo a lot quicker so I will be trying using the paints from the tube just for fun and as away to get into the flo state and see where it go’s…… fun stuff! 👏👌 thanks x
Was driving along today (in NZ) and looking up at the cloud formations and thinking of how to recreate them in collage a la Gaynor. Your inspiration is now a common thread in my days😊.
