"Feels fresh"... In a tiny art house I am always rearranging and tidying. Feels fresh is always the goal and the reward. Thankyou so much as always for sharing.
I'm always excited about getting up on Thursday, making a coffee and then watching your video to see what you've been up to! I know it's off the topic of art, but your clothes and jewelry are always so cute! Some people just have a knack for that and you definitely do. Of course, your art is so lovely and your methods inspiring!
Thursdays are my favourite. I get the video notification in the morning but I save it for my evening when "himself" goes out and I can watch in peace. Thanks for sharing your art, it's always so inspiring
@@gaynorpattle Golf course, band practice, it all works for me! I just love your infectious smile, laughed my head off when your pile of papers went flying and the video sound disappeared. it felt so familiar, piles of ideas sliding off my table and my rescue dog - name Buddy by the way - looks at me and wonders why the papers aren't biscuit flavoured Luckily he can't speak French
Hello Cindy in Sydney, every morning I think, wear something nice and feel nice - just remember to change 😂The cuffs normally get painty so I keep them up and put on my green apron for the rest. My luck is holding up so far 🥰
This is very inspiring ❤ I would love to see how you transfer from sketchbooks to printer, scan? editing and printing, on what paper. . . Love my sketchbooks and would sometimes almost be tempted to tear out pages. Your way is a wonderful solution. So please, Gaynor show us 🙏
Hello Hanne Marie, I will talk more about cards, the first step is to photograph and crop and experiment with filters on your phone. My cards are 250gsm - much too much for my home printer - I am looking into a better printer - if I keep forcing the card through, my present one will brake ! I will keep you posted 🥰
Dearest Gaynor, I enjoy listening and watching your videos, which I’ve watched over and over. Each time I rewatch I glean a new tidbit of information and reflection on my art journey. I too have been reviving my older works, sanding back etc. as you are saying here the now what will be an under story adds a history a complex foundation that can peek through the new paintings. What I am also learning from using the old works is how far I’ve progressed. The techniques I have now and how good it makes me feel and how it spurs me on. Though we are miles away from each other we are neighbors in spirit. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and process.
Lovely lovely video and art.... GREAT to see both smalls and big this week 💙 great that you think a lot about 'what next' / 'revisions' when art doesn't sell.. but I'm 99% certain that all sales are most strongly influenced by the weather - when you get lots of visitors you sell lots of art!!💙
AHH Thanks Lauren. I think what I meant to say was that I've always adopted an attitude of 'oh it doesn't matter' but admit now that it does matter but I will keep going anyway 😂❤❤❤
Lovely visit with you, Gaynor. Your pleasure in painting is quite contagious and I truly appreciate that. Your work is joyful and full of interesting moments.
I would be tempted to paint turquoise lines from the bottom half up through the top half, some thin, some wide, parallel to black stems and/or ajar, but behind, maybe even dashed… love your overflowing creativity, energy and style, including dress! Thank you!!
I will take your suggestions and have a think - I love to hear viewers opinions - thank you - and thank you for watching and taking time to leave a lovely comment x
Your concertina book of vegetables is just gorgeous. Have just found your channel, really enjoying your videos and you are great fun and so enthusiastic. I think I must start a sketch book!
Hello Sherrie, I do put on an apron, if I remember !!! Every now and then clothes get painted 😂 Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a kind comment X
Hello Gaynor, thank you for another lovely video. You mentioned not selling work at the beginning, and obviously being disappointed. One of my tutors on art foundation used to say though “the person who it’s made for just hasn’t seen it yet!” A fair point I think, so don’t despair. You were very fast showing us your sketchbooks….I wanted to browse😂. Keep going with that large painting. You will get it where you want it, when it speaks to you. The day you recorded the struggle obviously wasn’t the day.💐
This makes me laugh...I have many shirts and jumpers with painted cuffs ! The camera doesn't pick up the odd splat ! I tell myself to change or PUT ON the apron but impatience to get on will always come first 😂 Have a lovely painty week 🥰
Loved your landscape (the one in the white "floater" frame - does Craig build those for you?), loved your printed/painted sketchbook-inspired cards, loved all of your darling outfit changes, loved your enthusiasm, love YOU!!!
Stay curious and keep taking risks Gaynor! I found you on Instagram when I joined this week so am following you on there too now! I loved your big painting at the end where you was worried about it looking like two halves. My fingers were itching to get in there and have a go starting where you left off! Have a wonderful rest of the week. 😊
Thursdays have definitely become "Gaynorday" for me to the point that I was thrown off thinking yesterday would have had a fresh video and began to panic! I am so inspired at the amount of work you get done and love the video editing, your enthusiasm and your self-humour as you work through the various pieces. Joy is the best word to describe how I feel when I'm watching your updates. I see below that someone has asked about your process for cards and in line with that I'm curious as to what size blank cards you use. Meanwhile, wishing you the best. Be well! ♥♥♥
This makes me laugh, you always have such kind things to say 😊I will talk more about cards...my go to at the moment is 6 x 6 250gsm card. Have a wonderful week 🥰
So delightful, always! At 3:57 when the art materials toppled over really was great to see, it happens to others not just me, my art space is like a maze which I must always carefully navigate or things fall to the floor! :) Would love to see how you create cards from printer, as I make many cards (all originals) - and would love to know what the brand of sketchbook (buddy) is please. Thanks!
I have 'days' when I bash into everything 😂 I will talk more about using the printer - I need to research a printer that will happily take 250 gsm - I am forcing the card through and I don't want to encourage viewers to do that ! Buddy is an A5 Seawhite. Have a lovely week 🥰
Love your work and your sketch books are an inspiration. I don’t do enough in my sketchbooks but you are inspiring me to re-evaluate and get focused on them. 🙏 Thank you 😊 Just a note, the painting with the big dots….I find the big brown dots distracting and too dominant. It is just my opinion…..please don’t take any notice if it doesn’t resonate with you. Thank you for posting your videos ❤️ really look forward to seeing what you are exploring ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Teresa, ALL comments welcome, I it is good to hear what viewers are thinking. I am working on new sketchbook covers for next week and it makes my day to read that you are spending more time with your sketchbooks. Have a lovely weekend x
Gaynor do you ever paint your edges black? I love your work and the white edges of your canvases. Has me rethinking all of my black edges that I hate doing!
Your videos are a great source of inspiration, thank you! I wonder where you write/paint in your everyday journal, is it on the sofa or at a table, and how do you use your colours then (from the tubes directly, with a water jug nearby) and mange not to put paint all over your furniture?
