I returned to art during pandemic, playing with watercolors, pen and ink. After a stack of paintings became unwieldy, I came to the idea of making bookmarks out of them. I write this quote on the back “That thing that makes you happy, do more of that”. I then hide the bookmarks in books at local book store and the library I also carry a handful of them and will gift one to anyone I see reading in public. It’s been an amazing time. My muse is a character named Hope and I am thusly #guidedbyhope
I love your devotion Shawn. Fellow Christian here who enjoys your prompts. Yes, I believe it really is in the small things, we must always take heed of them. Jesus in everything!
I love watching you create and listening to you talk about your inspiration and why behind your pieces. Your Wildflower piece had a big impact on me and you explanation of todays did as well. I also love how you end your conversations before starting to create. Just incase you ever wonder, You are loved!!!
Absolutely stunning Shawn, the colour palette is just gorgeous and your inspiration is spot on! Finding those little things to focus on and celebrate is important with so much negativity around us. I adore those mesh type stencils, the texture you created in the background is so yummy, very inspired!💕🇨🇦
So beautiful Shawn. Gingko one of my favourite things too. I loved the music, it was perfect for this piece. And the sentiment. Perfect for the times we are living in.
Hi Shawn, This has truly been a Sunday with Shawn. I am working on a piece from rustic road, with a collaged house. Having so much fun. I really needed the Practice Hope talk today. Thank you so much. So many times what you discuss feels so directed toward what I need to hear. I loved the book (I have a similar fungi museum book.). I especially loved the piece today. Headed for your blog to look more. Thank you so much for ALL you do.❤
this was my first time watching your channel. I LOVED everything about it...and you. Your finished piece is beautiful..so much more than I thought it would be from the beginning (remember this was my first visit!). I subscribed and will be a loyal follower. I, too, just loved the drawings in that book. Hard to put in words, for me, but I felt the oooohs and awe of each page. Thank you for this present of you and your work!!
I planted ginkgo trees last year and they are so unique and beautiful. I LOVE associating them with the idea of hope. Also the texture in that background 😍
I have that book and have been so inspired by it! As soon as I saw the ginkgo in your artwork, it made me think of “Botanicum”! I love this piece so much and I’m inspired to get back to collage. Did you know there is another book called “Animalium” as well? It is curated by Katie Scott and Jenny Broom. Thank you so much for always sharing your gift, your kindness, and your generosity! YOU are loved ❤.
As an alternative to wet strength tissue paper when it was not available for an extended time in the USA, I discovered doctor's office exam table tissue. It's available on rolls, and SUPER CHEAP.
Hi Shawn, I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos, they are always rich in thought and full of creative ideas! Something I look forward to every Sunday morning 💗Thank you! I was wondering what you were spraying on the Blue ink/paint here (25:37) is it alcohol? (love the effect)
If you made a stencil from my artwork and then sold it, I would consider that a breach of my rights as an artist. It’s okay to be inspired, but come up with your own designs, don’t trace an illustrator’s original artwork. It’s unethical and it also sets a bad example for those watching your videos.

Beautiful new stencils. The idea of only the siluetee is great, so we can add the details.
Beautiful!
The first layer got lost but the result was super amazing!
I love the rolled brush effect. Takes mottling to a whole new depth! This is my first visit to your channel. Truly devotional
You are an amazing teacher. Thank you for sharing the process with me. I hope to be creating again in the near future. Blessings.

I think the book was inspired by the work of Ernst Haeckel. His work is public domain and black and white. Worth having a look.
Yes, much better than selling copyright designs from a 2016 book
Fabulous. You are so talented.
Thank you so much for the inspiration....I have this book collecting dust.... Time to dig it out

What do you ask for when shopping for your pattern pieces, stencils and stamps?
Your stuff is really pretty and thank you for the beautiful message.

Beautiful! Wondering if the peeled paper technique would work using wet strength tissue paper?
It probably would, that's something I'll have to try!
I love so many things about this! Thank you for the inspiration(s)! I have to ask though, what is in that pink spray bottle that creates the spots? 😉
Thank you! It alcohol in my spray bottle :) Thanks for watching

Do you have a Mermaid stencil or seahorse??
Demo starts at 22 minutes
The intro inspires the mind, if it can be opened.
Yes, not meant as criticism, but I watch videos more than once.

Yeah, she didn’t “create” anything!…..she copied somebody’s design!
@@fnhc2023 so wrong.
This book is curated , as in put together & reproduced from old Victorian plates & would be out of copyright
Very easy to make one’s own stencils from the botanical shapes in the book
@@jenniecallomon164how do you make these complicated stencils. I would love to make my own..
Love your work, BUT with all due respect , I think you talk too much......sorry!!
