There’s no ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ or ‘One Size Fits All’ strategy in raising children. And one of the biggest issues is discipline, given the vulnerabilities that may result in unhappy consequences.
In his talk, Fr Godfrey D'sa SDB draws a clear distinction between discipline and punishment. Discipline means setting boundaries with love which children can experience, whereas punishment is harmful and leads the child to expect external controls as against self-discipline. More importantly, discipline helps children to live within limits so that they do not get hurt along the way.
