I understand this car design isn't for everyone. But having it for myself. I love it! This is the exact color and model I have. It's beautiful! Love this review. It gives it a really good perspective and all of its neat features. Now it might be because I'm a young owner of this car. But the design is so cool. It looks sporty if you see it that way. And I think even though the back can feel claustrophobic to some. It is my favorite part of this car. I love to have the feeling of having kind of my own space and feel like I have really good privacy to just lay back and relax. Overall. Love this car and I would love to drive it around some more!

Out of 37 cars I have owned, I had my CHR for 6 years now and IS the best car I had ever had 44 mpg in summer and with 10 degree weather 29.6+ I wish I could have sunroof. I cannot think of one thing I would change.
I got mine a few months ago. I know this car was supposed to be a Scion (I think that’s how you spell it?) and meant to speak to younger buyers. I’m just beginning to be an adult. Seems like it still holds true to that label. Anyway, I love it. I can say that it’s not the most fast or best performing compared to other Toyota line ups. But what it does bring is the funky style and unique personality. Personally, I don’t mind not having a high performing car. I just wanted a reliable car that sorta stands out from others. CHR is just that! And speaking of the back seats and the doors especially. Maybe it’s just me but the part that sold me on this one is the door in the back. I’m an introvert and what do most introverts like to do? Be in their own space and just chill while listening to music or reading or just reflecting on life. Sometimes I go to the back seat just to sit back and listen to music while I do all that thinking and reflecting. It just makes me feel safe and cozy like I’m in a cool safe cave. Anyway, I won’t ramble on anymore. But the point I’m making is that this car is worth it if you only just need and or want something that it just going to get you from point A to point B in a very efficient way and that still gives you a smooth ride and gives you a good talking piece from its styling. 🍀

Do not recommend this vehicle for families or if you’re going to have a lot of other people in the vehicle on a regular basis. It drives and handles very nice and excellent mpg. The electric adjustable seats on the limited editions are very comfortable some of the best seats on any vehicle I’ve ever owned. My friend has a 2015 white Tacoma that’s having the same issue. I’m really disappointed in Toyota quality control in that aspect
Hey thank you Harry. I heard whispers last year about a super white paint thing going on but was never given details on it. I do not know if there is a campaign or even recall for it. But I remember vaguely hearing some rumors about an issue with it.
To me the CHR has more personality for sure. The Corolla cross AWD is great for snow. But for $5k less I can get a really nice riding daily driver that has amazing highway handling. The CHR is a big car made small. The Corolla Cross is a small car made big. If that makes sense.
@@brianruperti Dead on and what i thought . Honestly you by far have given the chr the most Accurate review. Everything you mentioned was missed by many reviewers. Underestimations . The big small analogy hands down correct. Lastly , its by far one of the most reliable using old with the newer revised engine and tranny. Proven too. Bravo to you . I subscribed btw. Thank you
@@moeanthony9308 Yea it’s an awesome car! Can’t wait to see how it evolves because I hope Toyota doesn’t use the corolla cross to replace it. And thanks!! I appreciate the kind words and welcome to the channel 🙏🏼
@@brianruperti I saw what could be the next chr under the new BZ electric lineups. Looks very similiar. To me the cross is already dated .Very deserved bro honestly. Bout time someone gave the chr true love
Thanks for the review. I am thinking of getting one but I still don't like the tail lights and it reminds me of the Civic's tail lights. I don't like the enclosed feeling in the back seat. Don't need the privacy in the back. Would like to have more light or open feeling. Will still check it out and test drive it though.
@@ukelilly you’re welcome! The hatchback XSE is really something nice. And if you can find a lightly used manual trans one, it’s a blast to drive. I know from experience as I drove one to and through the Smokey mountains! 😎
@@brianruperti the hatchback & manual transmission does sound good to my ears. Also, I am out of practice in parrallel parking so a small car is what I am looking for. Plus good gas mileage doesn't hurt. Thanks a bunch.
This might be the next vehicle to replace the Toyota Matrix. Wish Toyota has a smaller vehicle than the Corolla Cross, but bigger than the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Not loving the CHR look. Thank you for posting this informative video on the CHR.
BrIaN, is the ride a fairly smooth one for this type of vehicle. I’m thinking since it sits up a bit and has bigger tires it would be but what do I know. 🤔 It kinda reminds me of my old 2017 Crosstrek that I miss. I don’t need speed, but I love good handling and a comfy ride. What about mileage? This just looks like a great road trip vehicle 🚗
@@brianruperti Ohhhhh…got it. I’m in a Subaru now, I think my old Honda CRV was FWD. Thank you I enjoyed watching your video it wasn’t too long which was nice 😊
I have a 22 highlander limited and I am looking to buy a smaller vehicle as a better daily and I was looking at these. I think this would be a great small car for me to get around town w/o dragging the highlander out. However; although , you say that's not a lot of blue, but for me. thats A LOT of blue and according to the website, XLE is the lowest trim you can get.....so I dunno...Maybe I'll be able to overlook it. I really like the car though. Just waiting to test drive it now and get in there and see how I like it....
@@brianruperti I have no desire to drop a trim level lol and with this vehicle, even going to limited trim. I seen today on another vehicle, where it has no usb plugs in the back, no armrest, its a very basic car. So I'm thinking about moving over to the Honda HR-V
Thank you for your quick reply, I have sent it to the service and they mentioned there is nothing wrong (although I have owned it for 6 days only) They suggested to have a test drive with another car to make sure that other new cars don’t shake Will update you on the situation
I’m happy that Toyota has their safety system on all of their vehicles standard. Honda on the other hand will charge you for it on some of their vehicles which I find ridiculous
Let me ask you. I am looking at these cars as I have a totaled car from floods. I read that this car is discontinued. Is it worth it to buy now as insurance prices might be higher because will we be able to find parts?
I actually owned a juke before my CHR they look quite different. The only thing similar are the rear door handles. The juke is was more round looks like a frog on wheels. The CHR has more of a sports car look/feel the Juke looks way more like an suv.
The 184 bhp 2 litre gen 4 hybrid system is available here in UK / Europe. I've not seen any announcements yet of the newer gen 5 hybrid power units being fitted in to the C-HR but it's still a bit early in the year for next model year C-HR announcements.
Awesome review!, quick question tho, the black emblem can be set by the Toyota Dealer or I have to customize it on my own? I own the top-end version of the C-HR but it’s over here in the Middle East. Maybe you have any idea regarding the double tap to roll the windows down, black emblem, floor mat and the sequential turn signals?
well i have the C-HR in south Africa that triangle that looks like a exhaust have a light in it here you get a 2.0 l engine here w het a 1.2l turbo no hybrid at all witch is sad we have front fog lights witch come standard if you want to i can send you pics just for interest sake light in the mirror that lights up Toyota chr on the road specially at night also no all wheel drive no Dimond fit boot cover just carped
Its styling has aged badly and the rear is claustrophobic. But it has a comfortable ride and a refined drive train. Typical toyota. Aesthetically challenged ,but solidly built.
Why do foreigners get hybrid/AWD in the CHR & the U.S. does not ? It’s frustrating. They are giving the Corolla hybrid/AWD for goodness sake‼️ If this suppose to be a small SUV then make this make sense….
It’s very frustrating. I don’t have an answer but my guess is that Toyota figures Americans aren’t ready to embrace it fully yet. People are still stubborn to hybrids and we work every day to teach them about the benefits!
I love this car, but in Tanzania🇹🇿 Africa we drive its predecessor the toyota IST aka SCION XA. It is cheaper and easy to get than this CHR. Which is expensive in terms of import duty.
@@brianruperti thanx in deed. You might wanna come some day to see our wildlife unique reserves and also cars with more than a billion miles like the TOYOTA STOUT still working, rugged & road legal

The fact that I’m upgrading from a yaris literally 😭😭😭😩 and I want this car sooo bad
All good things come in time my friend 😎
Love my CHR. Right size fun to drive
Good review, what's your take vs Corolla cross besides utility size?
@@moeanthony9308 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for the review. I am thinking of getting one but I still don't like the tail lights and it reminds me of the Civic's tail lights. I don't like the enclosed feeling in the back seat. Don't need the privacy in the back. Would like to have more light or open feeling. Will still check it out and test drive it though.
Thanks for watching. I would consider checking out the Corolla SE or Hatchback XSE. I think you’d prefer those cars if you feel that way.
@@brianruperti Thanks. :) .
You’re welcome now hurry and find one! I can’t wait to hear about it
Dream car
This might be the next vehicle to replace the Toyota Matrix. Wish Toyota has a smaller vehicle than the Corolla Cross, but bigger than the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Not loving the CHR look. Thank you for posting this informative video on the CHR.
Do you know where I could find the cup height adjustment piece? I bought my 2020 XLE last year, used, and it didn't have it.
Hmmm try parts.toyota.com
@@brianruperti Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, I can't find it there. 😕 🥲 😭 I wonder why it's so hard to find it.
Interesting. Time to make a home made one :-)
Hello. The ride is smooth and you will enjoy the handling. It is FWD. You will fight for 30mpg
@@brianruperti Ohhhhh…got it. I’m in a Subaru now, I think my old Honda CRV was FWD. Thank you I enjoyed watching your video it wasn’t too long which was nice 😊
@@conniepleasantnails thanks for watching :-)
I have a 22 highlander limited and I am looking to buy a smaller vehicle as a better daily and I was looking at these. I think this would be a great small car for me to get around town w/o dragging the highlander out. However; although , you say that's not a lot of blue, but for me. thats A LOT of blue and according to the website, XLE is the lowest trim you can get.....so I dunno...Maybe I'll be able to overlook it. I really like the car though. Just waiting to test drive it now and get in there and see how I like it....
You can also get an LE which has grey instead of blue
@@brianruperti I have no desire to drop a trim level lol and with this vehicle, even going to limited trim. I seen today on another vehicle, where it has no usb plugs in the back, no armrest, its a very basic car. So I'm thinking about moving over to the Honda HR-V
@@marilynnscorner345 Drive both before you decide! 😉
@@brianruperti of course and other competitors as well
Would dual exhaust make the engine quieter?
Nope it’s mostly for looks. It functions on some high performance vehicles. But it just looks cool 🤓
Hello Brian, I have bought a C-HR 2022 hybrid car and it shakes while I drive it on both low and high speeds is that normal?
Hello. Cars are not supposed to shake so I would recommend bringing it in to service asap to be checked out.
Thank you for your quick reply, I have sent it to the service and they mentioned there is nothing wrong (although I have owned it for 6 days only)
They suggested to have a test drive with another car to make sure that other new cars don’t shake
Will update you on the situation
@@renadmahmoud9697 you’re welcome
I’m happy that Toyota has their safety system on all of their vehicles standard. Honda on the other hand will charge you for it on some of their vehicles which I find ridiculous
I agree!
Let me ask you. I am looking at these cars as I have a totaled car from floods. I read that this car is discontinued. Is it worth it to buy now as insurance prices might be higher because will we be able to find parts?
Not sure how that would affect insurance. Are you considering other Toyota models?
Love the look of this car but I absolutely hate the blue inside
❤️
On the 2022 XLE, is the driver’s seat electric? Thank you
Pretty sure, please check brochure on links below
you forgot to mention the extra usb plug in the armrest
Thanks for reminding me!
Looks like nissan juke,, its incredible how car companies design the same looks
Gotta be a part of the “class” they’re in 😏
I actually owned a juke before my CHR they look quite different. The only thing similar are the rear door handles. The juke is was more round looks like a frog on wheels. The CHR has more of a sports car look/feel the Juke looks way more like an suv.
I don’t see any resemblance to a Juke. I think the CH-R looks great, but you couldn’t give me a Juke, dislike them.
@@davebullock3517 did you see the 2022 Nissan Juke
Ugh I love the plastic lining! I need that in my 2018
Call the dealer and get a price 😉
They should make a hybrid version with 194 hp like the new Corolla Cross.
I agree
The 184 bhp 2 litre gen 4 hybrid system is available here in UK / Europe. I've not seen any announcements yet of the newer gen 5 hybrid power units being fitted in to the C-HR but it's still a bit early in the year for next model year C-HR announcements.
Can you get one with a sun roof?
Haven’t seen one but they discontinued the model
Awesome review!, quick question tho, the black emblem can be set by the Toyota Dealer or I have to customize it on my own?
I own the top-end version of the C-HR but it’s over here in the Middle East.
Maybe you have any idea regarding the double tap to roll the windows down, black emblem, floor mat and the sequential turn signals?
Thank you. The dealer can do the black emblems for you. For the double tap and sequentials I’m not too sure sorry
How is the wind noise on this?
I’d rate it 7.9/10 but remember we all come from different places
@@brianruperti thanks. But I got a 2022 Corolla SE and it’s noise is sometimes unbearable especially on the freeway.
Sorry to hear you don’t like it. What vehicle did you ride in before this car?
I own one : a 22 plate
That’s my car I have a white 2022
But I have black bars on my top
Nice!
good review but you dident mention fuel economy
Thank you 27 city 31 hwy
Does it have DRLs?
100% When in automatic headlight mode you get DRL during day.
Does the display dim off and on at night?
Yes
Ok , thanks because my 2021 Ch-r does that.
well i have the C-HR in south Africa that triangle that looks like a exhaust have a light in it here you get a 2.0 l engine here w het a 1.2l turbo no hybrid at all witch is sad we have front fog lights witch come standard if you want to i can send you pics just for interest sake light in the mirror that lights up Toyota chr on the road specially at night also no all wheel drive no Dimond fit boot cover just carped
True that i own this car too
Why no hybrid in usa?
Because the model is discontinued
@@brianruperti Here in my country(Slovenia-EU)there is only hybrid version available.
1.8 with 122hp and 2.0 with 184hp
I really want this car, I just don't like the blue on the interior.
Check for aftermarket options in black or a trim piece from the LE!
I first thought it was a Juke
🤣
how much is it?
Mid to high 20s depending on where you buy.
Its styling has aged badly and the rear is claustrophobic. But it has a comfortable ride and a refined drive train. Typical toyota. Aesthetically challenged ,but solidly built.
I think my Tacoma is sexy! 😅
@@brianruperti 😄😄. Yes , its a sexy beast for sure.
This is not Hybride ? Just petrol powered ?
Correct
Are your headlamps working?😵😵
Yes
I wish it had a 2.4L. :/
I wish it had a 2.8L V6 with a 6spd manual /:
This needed a 2.5L turbo.............
And 6spd manual 😎
Import the hybrids to the USA and you will clean up ….. 50 mpg !!
CHR is discontinued
Sending my love to Tanzania!!! 🙏🏼
@@brianruperti thanx in deed. You might wanna come some day to see our wildlife unique reserves and also cars with more than a billion miles like the TOYOTA STOUT still working, rugged & road legal
@@lyimoej7198 That would be a fun adventure. I love learning about the people around our world.
237 miles with FULL TANK????
Not accurate until
First couple tanks
Horrible!! no power ..😢
!
Worst car Toyota has put out this century
Why’s that?
@@brianrupertiBoy this thing is slow. Boring. And the ones made in turkey aren’t even reliable. It’s also ugly
WHAT MAKES ME SICK ABOUT THE CHR, NO SUNROOF, I HAVE TO PAIR MY PHONE FORE NAVIGATION AND NO CD PLAYER, I STIL LISTEN TO MY CD'S. 🫖
I love the styling! Actually in the begining of the video I thought it was a coupe till I saw the hidden door handles.
