  • I have managed to edit an 8 1/2 hour flight down to about a 30 minute video with the most interesting parts of the journey. My M24 was faultless throughout the journey. I hope you enjoy it!

    Nice to see long distance Gyro flights, across countries and seas. Nice to see Gyros flown at sensible heights. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. No music would have been fine. Gyro noises are music enough.

    Good to see a long cross country flight in a Gyroplane. Thank you for your effort in capturing and time in editing the video.

      This is flying VFR not IFR. Lots of controlled airspace in Europe and even in uncontrolled space it is good to keep in touch with the FIR as airspace is very busy and they always let you know if there are aircraft close to you

      Hi Philipp, nice to reading you and watching your last vidéo back to Swiss...! Even if autogyre is a fantastic machine, ICP Savannah might be effectively more convenient for such long trips...! Thank you again for sharing and looking forward to watch your next vidéos...Fly safe. Nicolas (young 57 years old trainee from Paris !)

    Really interesting video, thank you. Can I ask do you require any additional license to fly outside of the Uk? I’m just reading the ppl(G) guidance on the CAA website stating it’s for Uk airspace only. Thank you

      Sorry but mine was French Registered so not sure about CAA rules for flying abroad! Also I think rules post Brexit have changed.

    Enjoyed your video - I am in the process of getting a Magni M24 and would like to make videos of some of my adventures. Can I ask how you capture your audio? I purchased a GoPro and now need to figure out how to tie in the audio. Thanks!

    • @philipgoldsmithpilot
      @philipgoldsmithpilot  2 года назад

      You need to get a special cable which has a socket for your large headset jack at one end and a split between a large headset jack and a usb C plug at the other. The USB c goes into the GoPro and the large jack goes into your headset port on the M24. You can find them in various places try Sportys pilot shop

    They sure do have to do a lot of radio work over there! But then again I think even a gyro pilot has to be IFR rated and the gyro capable of IFR. Am I correct? In the USA, you can fly VFR and go really far with no radio coms, except at and near the airports themselves. A lot more free over here. Also usually easy to stay out of congested airspace except for around New York city and Washington D.C. and the like. And of course LA and Chicago. Lots of rural areas in the states.

      This is VFR not IFR, lots of controlled airspace in Europe. Also very useful to be in touch with the FIR controllers as they always warn you of approaching traffic

    dang! you cut all landings off?!?! they are the most interesting parts .. especially for a gyro :-) nice trip anyway!

    It seems like there is a constant stick vibration, how typical is this?

    • @philipgoldsmithpilot
      @philipgoldsmithpilot  2 года назад

      All Gyros have an element of stick vibration unlike planes where you don’t have this but you get used to it !

    Can a gyrocopter or GYRO plane glide without power.?

    • @philipgoldsmithpilot
      @philipgoldsmithpilot  2 года назад

      Yes as the rotor is not connected to the engine in flight the Gyro is in permanent auto rotation but only for a limited distance called the Glide ratio. But enough to make a safe landing in the event of engine failure as long as forward speed is maintained. You can’t land like a helicopter however you need a forward speed of around 60 mph to land but you can flare so you can land in a very short space 10-20 metres but need 200m minimum to take off

    its a shame you are stuck with the one camera angle, cuda been a great video instead of good.

  • @gobstoppa1633
    @gobstoppa1633 Год назад

    of course the negative things that could happen are always apparent, but its a shame you spend so much time contemplating them, you would get far more enjoyment from the experience if you could pigeon hole these fears, they will never go away hopefully but you waste to much time dwelling on negativity, needlessly i think you will find."".
