- Andy Jones from The Gyrocopter Experience - Oxford takes me on a sightseeing trip along the Thames from Wallingford to Bourne End then over to Flackwell Heath to view my home before returning to Chiltern Park Airfield to have a little handling experience. Andy is a very experienced and pleasant instructor so it was most enjoyable.
I was starting to wonder if they were going to taxi to the Thames or fly there.
This footage shot with a GoPro Hero 2018 in 1080P HD but for some unknown reason it records in 3.2Gb clips and the editing software I used to join them seriously degrades the quality. I will upload again in HD when I find better software.
Chiltern airfield, at Ipsden just outside Goring, I installed the phone lines there over 20 years ago when it was a couple of porta cabins. ( not that anyone gives a crap about what I did decades ago). It’s a great place to fly from if you’re in the Reading area, saves driving out to Wiltshire where most of the farm strips seem to be in this part of the world. Beautiful countryside and about 15 minutes by air to Henley on Thames.
nice flying machine . loved the engine noise . soothing . better than some peice of annoying music.
love these machines...magni seems to have less incidents than any gyro...hardly any shake
It was the first Gyrocopter with no shaking very nice one definitely !
1. Actually, it's 'fewer' incidents, not less.
2. And what has your unexplained reference to 'shake' got to do with your equally unqualified 'incidents'?
Beautiful design
is your cameraman's name IGOR by any chance? What a "Unique" voice that fellow has.
I have got to acquire one of these. Retirement dream.
Learned to fly sailplanes out of Booker as a young teen(now Wycombe air park).Familiar countryside around Marlow/Bourne End,Cookham
Silencioso!
I've flown 737's that didn't need THAT much runway !!
w4fej Good thing he wasn't an RAF pilot in 39/41!Looks like he is explaining what to do to fly one,or maybe he just likes to talk.
I came to watch flying , got bored watching a field switched off , won’t make the same mistake !
🙄 ok mr. go back to your high production videos.
Derek Fabry ok mr , you get back to your gay videos .
and what its the cost of a kit to build one?
Sounds like a wheel axle needs some grease.
For me the video would gave much enhanced with some subtitles Marlow, Reading Windsor etc.
Such a shame the cockpit conversations were not recorded otherwise it would have ben an educational video...
Too much roll time! 25:54
As an ex Essex Thames boy, who has just ordered a Magni M24, with the same panel, I would love to discuss further your thoughts on owning one! Please send me a PM.
Very useful video. It looks like the magni does not exhibit any cyclic vibration like so many other Gyros. Am I seeing this correctly?
Hardly any. smoothest thing I have flown that was not a glider.
@@cyclicwiggler7522 That's impressive. I wonder how the M24 compares with the Cavalon. Thank you.
@@guybuxman4884 A couple of things that set the Magni apart from (most) other gyroplanes is their rotors which are made of composites versus aluminum (like on the Cavalon). They are made in house rather than being a commodity item. This has two advantages: they are heavier so have more inertia, they don't slow down as fast giving you more maneuverability during a momentary slow flight situation, and unlike the aluminum rotors, tend to have a much longer service life. A third item is that they are a bit more flexible, so absorb more of the air turbulence than a more rigid aluminum one, creating a smoother ride. The rotors are matched and balanced at the factory, and must be dealt with as a pair if any maintenance or repairs must be made (usually at the factory that has the specialized equipment to rebalance and ensure optimum operations). That's not to say you can't do anything with the rotors outside of the factory, though. The Calavlon has a nicer interior cabin. The shape of the Cavalon means you have to fly it more - the body acts somewhat like an airfoil, which also means it can go a bit faster more economically at the cost of more neutral flight characteristics. The newest cockpit from Magni offers dual Dynon Skyview EFIS displays, the larger display for the operator, and the same one as shown for the passenger, center panel. The larger display offers a really nice sized moving map and SS controls and monitoring of all operations. If in a training situation, you can swap functions between the two panels.
Thankyou very much for explaining appreciate Sir !
Does it have rotor angle of attack indicator?
No, no need.
Seriously need to record the headset audio and cut out the engine noise.
Only 480p
I thought the primary idea behind a gyrocopter is the VSTAL capability. This one seems to require about the same runway as a single engine airplane.
1. The accepted acronym is VSTOL.
2. Take off run off run is very obviously a function of applied power and consideration of engine wear - and a gyroplane is not a helicopter therefore the 'V' of VSTOL does not apply.
it could be called 20 minutes grazing in the green meadow

As an ex gyro pilot, 30 years back, Aircommand, I found the very prolonged taxi for miles, very boring, I used to take off and land in about the WIDTH of your massive runway.
Werent there a few issues with the Aircommand?
I think l remember at least one fatality near Bredon hill in Worcestershire.
@@jpb9064 Lots of Air Command crashes chopping off the tail with abrupt handling in windy weather,in the the CAA grounded them,a low set tailplane mod was put into place and Mr Speak well known gyroplane engineer flew one for some time afterwards,in all fairness the modern gyroplane has come a long way since the old Bensen B8 designs of yesteryear, but new designs are still expensive when the whole point was a cheap way to get airborne.

Why do so many people push there gyros by one of the most important parts of the machine the vertical stabiliser and rudder this is discouraged in Australia
Energizing the main rotor is slow
Commentary would be nice
Once headphones one not speak was heard. Makes it boring.
Poor audio
Anybody got these in Diesel yet.Doesnt seem to be a lot of legroom in this one>Nice looking thing though
he is not flying that fast could be reason why he is not getting enny vibration.
I am French ! La caméra sur la tête avec tous ses mouvements : NO !
The camera is only on the rigth and on the left!!!
STOP IT!!!!
So far, 20 minutes of taxing and driving it around on grass..unintelligible conversation.. oh, finally pre-rotation..
ДизЛайк. Давление масла возрастает за 2-4 секунды, маслать стартером 9 секунд это лишнее.
Skip forward twenty one unbearably long minutes to catch the begining of the take off.
I'd lost interest at this point.
Bad camera man!!
You show way too much prep time. Wanted to see the bird in action flying.
FFWD is your friend.
