Cadillac Escalade Stuck in the River Nodwell to the Rescue

- We are On the Road Again, this time to recover a Cadillac Escalade that is dead in the Water and Mud in the middle of the Virgin River. Did I mention he actully might also be stuck? When it comes to recovery equipment the Nodwell is the Only tool for the Job for a vehicle in the river. We loaded it up and we were bearing down on them just before dark. It would not start so "we" hooked up and dragged it the 900 feet to dry ground. We were able turn him around and Becky pulled him back to the edge of the pavement so it was accessible for a Rollback. With a little luck, the right tools and good help we had him back On the Road Again. Thanks for coming along for the ride and Thanks for Watching. Casey

I'm a little surprised you made him get into the mud and hook up the tow rope himself, Casey.
@@defuller1 He was already wet....it is pretty fool proof. No skin off my nose.lol
what he was doing in there what he’s trying to do?
"Darned GPS told me to merge on to River Street"
Hilarious!
Love it!
Rotten floor
Need hip waders
Blindly going where no Caddy has gone before...
Followed by right on to Flood Avenue?
As I watched with my 6 year old, and the water was pouring out of the open doors, he said “Those people were silly to try to drive in that river.” Son, I agree.
Please award that son a dollar for having common sense at that age!
Becky is not afraid to show us how it's done. 💪
You may:
1. Attempt to ford the river.
2. Caulk the Escalade and float it across
3. Take a ferry across
4. Wait for conditions to improve
5. Get more information
What is your choice? X
Don't they know you never choose to ford the river. Johnny always drowns
The cost of a ferry is $5.00 and you have to wait 4 days. Are you willing to do this?
Beautiful. Kids these days have no idea what you're talking about.....
That 300+ Ox power wasn’t enough for that fancy covered wagon...should have waited for the ferry...they lost their food rations to mold, are ill and now have to hunt in the desert... pretty much game over!!
Best option is to stop and hunt
@@justinschwab175 that was the funnest option😉 Shoot 1500 lbs of food and only carry 200 back to the wagon
I could not hear the conversation when they first got on the Nodwell. Certainly they were giving the details of why it seemed wise to take a vehicle really meant for street driving and sail down a river. You never pass judgement Casey but certainly you could tell us the story. What a recovery!
Because they have more dollars than sense
At least this way...other people’s poor choices keeps food on your table.
For a while there it was a battle between the power of positive thinking and the power of stupidity.............guess who won?
@@davidangelamelcher9591 Its true what they say...you can't fix stupid.
RUclips played two Cadillac Escalade ads during the course of your video.
Great recovery. Becky is one heck of a Lady. Casey, you are a lucky man. Thanks for sharing.
I agree thanks
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery You're welcome. Thumbsup.
Crossing a river is one thing, but using it as a highway is a totally different thing.
🤣🤣👍🏼
Street tires & ghetto rims. Perfect combination for a River adventure!
You'll own the night with some LED pods on the roof. The Nodwell snatched them right out of there. Nice team recovery. One has to wonder what people were thinking when you come across things like this. It's a curious world. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Well like the man said it's all wheel drive.
Casey, Inquiring Minds say, you are the honest-to-goodness, bonafied, 'real McCoy Nodwell Cap-e-tan' Remindes me of when I was 16 with dad's Bronco stuck up to the fenders in Cherry Creek. The punishment I paid the tow/repair bill$$$. Learned never to go into water unless absolutely necessary with any vehicle!!!
Ya it is a bad spot to be
Becky explaining the side pull plan was helpful to me and I bet the client dug it too.
Thanks for the video.
She can hold her own in recovery.
That was very entertaining. The whole time I was waiting to hear why he was driving down the river?
River boat
Because Caddy has all-wheel drive and "it can go anywhere." I doubt it has low-range and I doubt the owner knew the difference between 4-wheel-drive with low-range and all-wheel drive.
For sale, Cadillac Escalade, no water damage, like new. Dont low ball me, I know what I got!
OH DUDE ....ROFL
The Noddy doesn't take prisoners. Brakes on or not, you're coming out!
I thought the same thing when I saw the brake lights on..Wonder if it was still in park...lol
I am not trying to talk crap but watch the video where the noddwell was pulling full size trucks and trailers at Sand hollow cant rember which event need help from bulldozer but noddwell wasn't so much stuck as it just couldn't pull that much wieght
@@jeremyhanna3852 Yel you wonder why anyone with a bus or motorhome that big would venture out in the sand and think they weren't going to get stuck.
Bet he thought low range was 1st gear and wondered how you would pull him backwards. Good thing it didn't start. Much safer for Casey.
Well done! My snowcat is painfully slow.in reverse! Your Nodwell looks slightly better!
I had the video in 4x speed. LOL
3:55 I got er reved in reverse lol look at me go
ruclips.net/video/zSbrkvgTIn8/видео.html
You should run 360 degree lighting on the Nodwell and light up the entire work area.
Super Track making waves...Thumbs up to Becky....team work makes the dream work..lol
Casey, I appreciate you saying, “Praise The Lord.” Near the beginning when you were thankful for having gotten there before dark....
Now that's what I call a 5 ⭐ video God bless y'all from South Carolina viewer
Well the Escape of this Escalade quickly Escalated into a far more serious problem ! But you and Becky got the job done thumbs UP to you guys :-)
It's great you were able to pull him out of the river and back to dry land. Also great that the Escalade wasn't hydro-locked, although some of the onboard computers might have problems down the road. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Again.
Thanks for taking us on your ride!!
Thanks for taking us along!
Nice of the kids on the quad to consistently be right in Casey's way...LOL
I noticed.. lol
Just a suggestion from someone that hint the Everglades on a half track. When you get back be sure to check your idler bearing for water. We have changes bearing in the mid many times because water. It won’t take long to eat them up either. We put grease fittings on the hubs and keep pumping grease in them in a regular basis when hunting as far as you drove in the water they could have water in them. I don’t thing you want to change a bearing in the river. Believe it isn’t fun. The tracks on our half track are very heavy. It takes a lot of beer to repair them
Got it covered. They have 2 double lips seals, grease zerks and all greased up. These machines are designed for these conditions thankfully.
Sure looks like you just beat the dark, both you and Becky managed to stay dry was a good thing. It's always fun watching the Noddy work. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
1st time Casey has opened the hatch and tools don’t come flying out!! 🤣
1. Excellent team work! 2. Why on earth was he in the river? 3. Thanks Casey! 👍👍👍
It was there and it seemed like a good idea at the time
With the reasonable LED lighting available it should never be dark.
Time and money. Time aaaaaand money.
@@dennispalmer6007 That would be way overkill, just a few 150w led light bars and it would be daylight at the flick of a switch on the Nodwell.
No thank you for taking us along for the ride it was fun and I didn't get wet either 👍👍👍
Nodwell needed a wash. Casey almost got his sea legs. It’s worth reading about the Virgin River.
Thanks for taking us along for the swim. I mean ride.
"Try to start it?"
[very expensive *click*]
"In trouble now!"
Noddy was definitely the tool for that job - very impressive!
Great video Casey keep up the good work
That river gets the best of us! I used to drive up it full speed spaying water 20 feet high until one day I hit a void..... it took two trucks and a tow rig with a 12000 lb winch to get me out
Its was pretty deep....
@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery thats the surprise that the river brings... it can be 6 inches deep for miles and then, BOOM!!! Friggen sunk... good times!
HI CASEY AND BECKY A JOB WELL DONE AND I AM PROUD OF YOU ALL AND NO ONE WAS HURT AND THANK GOD FOR HIS BLESSING AMEN AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEO AND MAY THE LORD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AS YOU TRAVEL AMEN AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE AMEN AGAIN THANK YOU
Just when We thought we seen it all, that was definitely the right tool for the job.👍
Did you get the VIN number of that Escalade I don't want to buy it at auction
luckily it was not salt water, or else that car will never be same...
Couldn't read the numbers, but the letters appeared to be 'AGUA'
washed regularly though
@@yourlocalalexis4578 it's still water, it will never be the same
need to convert the nodwell into a roll back
That Nodwel is handy as a shirt pocket out there in the wild country, the engine and runnin gears are high up in the frame so the elements can't hurt them, good job Casey and Becky,i don't know what else could have got that vehicle out of that river way down there with those steep banks, good job,Thankyou for the video.
Not going to ask how, because it happens. But the first ad from this video was for Cadillac :)
Lol for me too. I was thinking if they knew how bad their product was performing in the video they might not be so eager to advertise it.
Same for me! Lol
Same for me.
Yeah it cracked me up.
Let's be honest. Its an early 2000s escalade. It's a street queen not a offroad trail rider. It actually technically relates to the Sport truck Silverado SS as they share the same powerplant and drivetrain. So I don't think Cadillac would be disappointed in their product as its easily 15 years old and wasn't meant for doing creek swamping ;)
I was pretty amazed he made it that far up the river lol.
So was I
I'm amazed he can walk and chew gum at the same time after this little incident!
There's got to be a country song in this somewhere!
That was a fantastic rescue Casey!! Thanks for sharing it with us!!
Messes folks get themselves into. Good Job Becky and Casey.
This video was Noddy but nice. Not a bad slogan for the Nodwell. Cheers from Canada.
Wife handled that like a boss.
Nice one... Becky is a great instructor
She has plenty of recovery experience...say 20 yrs worth....lol
From an old and decrepit man; I appreciater the wonderful beauty you show me every time I go 'along for the ride.'Thank you!
I can't believe what i'm seeing ! Awesome, awesome video! Nice work!
I think people are being somewhat unkind to the gentleman with the Escalade. Hands up all those who have never exercised poor judgement, been stupid, or just been immature and made a mistake? Yes, I thought so. So cut the guy some slack and give him some credit for helping out. Thank you everyone.
We have all made stupid decisions and used poor judgment. I could not agree with you more.
Sure we all have done stupid stuff and we were likely teased and picked on for it. It’s how those lessons get firmly ingrained into our minds, a service society performs for those who need it.
I mean, once Casey pulled him out of that hole, the rest of it didn't look that deep. It still doesn't seem like a genius idea to drive up a river, but what do I know?
Quite correct, my hands are up, and I could do with more than two of them 🤣
Hey, that was a really different recovery. Fun!
Great job, Casey! 😎
That Nodwell is a beast! Ain't too many off road recovery vehicle that would have accomplished that with such ease!
It is an amazing machine. Purpose built for those conditions!
I may end up dead from reading the comment section. Tears are streaming down my face!
I always wonder what someone is thinking or not to get themselves into a situation like they got into. A very adventurous person he is, sometimes they do get lucky. It is great though to have a person such as yourself to rescue them and aid in them getting to where they need to be.
Ol Noddy for the win! The right tool for the job.👍
Common sense went right out the guys window when he decided to go tubing in a Cadillac Escalade!
Thank you two for such great videos.🥳
I always enjoy your videos what a calm person can achieve
Lord gets all the glory and you sir are a fine gentleman, thank you for putting these videos together with your camera crew😂.
Our pleasure!
Nice video. Gotta say it was pretty funny when you had finished pulling the Escalade out of a river, and youtube gave me an ad for Cadillac.
Awesome recovery
Impressive how easily it pulled that big suv out!
It is quite the machine
21:53 Now that looked like a fun 5 seconds! - Coming straight out of a stream and the car keys are somewhat missing :D
Another great recovery.
If I have to get wet in the winter it’s another $500!
Boots cost that much anymore. Becky said she wasn't getting wet...
Maybe someone should introduce him to the concept of a boat? The look on Casey's face when he trys the jump start, pricless. Welll, you are right royally , very expensivley , screwed.
It's a small club, and we ain't in it.
One of my best friends growing up, had a Grand Dad that was a Big Wheel and owned half the R.E. in our County. The old man bought his wife of 45 years a brand new Cadillac every year, even though she didn't drive anymore. He GAVE away the one year old Caddy to family. Every year.
My buddy would routinely destroy these Caddy's. Been with him and pulled out by farmers on tractors many a time. Mud, sand, water, brush, rocks, hole shotted, high centered, you name it. His Grand Dad LOVED the stories!!!
When you are 16, own your own plane, drive a one year old 1975 Cadillac Coupe Deville to H.S., live on 40 acres complete with tennis courts, pool, roping arena, guest houses, pond, horse stables, zoo, fruit orchards, and air strip;
The adventure was worth way more than the vehicle.
I've done some dumb things in my life, but dang! This isn't even a "Hold my beer" moment.
Could say alot of negativity here but Casey you got 'em out safely. Great videography. And great job helping ppl in need ( no matter how they got in need )
That was amazing. I never heard you once go "what were you thinking?".
Nice clean job.!!👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Casey snatched another one 👍👍
That Escalade is soon to be for sale at discount lot in Santa Ana CA.
On a plus side, no salt water, no gators.
Ok. Honorable mention for the Nodwell
I like that tow attachment the shackles goes through, very neat and the rope can't jump off
Once again you have saved someone's bacon! LOL!! Nice job Casey! Yes, that would have been a real challenge in the dark. Glad you got them rescued. Hope his repair bill wan't too high on that starter.
Noddy doing what Noddy does best, what a beast 🇷🇴🇬🇧🤣👍🏻
What in the Heck was the not so bright Caddy off roader thinking 😐 wow great recovery thanks for taking me along.
I can see it in the future ... more work lights fwd and backwards on the ol noddy are coming .. maybe an enclosed cab w heat too ??
Insert white Samurai flash back from the good ole days.
Wow he is in river. I have bin stuck in a river in my case I was in water over the hood. Some how it she stay running the hole time
"But the dealer told me I could go anywhere in luxury"
Need a Lexus then
Just need some pontoons now to make it the ultimate luxury fishing platform. Ewh we, hot doggie...fish on.
Cadillacs are king of the road not king of the swamps
Wow! I have no words, in the river?
I looks like you have at least _eight_ words.
Becky says why do you need to buy this mammoth tracked off road vehicle designed for the Arctic? Casey says because I am sure that I will be able to use it some day for something. Sure you will but ok... Watching you pop the Escalade out was impressive. YOU ARE THE MAN CASEY!
It was a good one for sure. They designed these for the muskeg and the Russians ended up with most of them.
Noddy to the rescue! That was a great recovery.
Was about to hit Horse fall beach and seen this! Guess I’m gonna be late!
Awesome recovery man, good job.
Good job well done Casey!
Very interesting. Thanks for the ride.
I really liked that. But you now I'm partial to noddy recoveries. Another one for those times in the shop when you say, "Remember that Escalade down in the Virgin?"
I had Two Cadillac Escalade commercial in your video!
⚡️🇺🇸🦅⚓️👍🏻⚡️
Another great video Casey
Some people have more money than sense!
Probably dads Cad?
Yup it is
@@lornahardin4563 ... hey dad, here are the keys back ... ooh and I washed it for you, inside and out.
@@silentepsilon888 I love it.
Nodwell needs a wheel lift
Up a creek without a Nodwell.
We have a Yahtzee!
And why on Earth did he drive his Escalade into a river ?
