Back in the '80s, in the Army, I 'owned' an XM816 Wrecker. When the video started, I was looking at something else...until I heard that NHC-250 cranking! OH MY! Flashbacks! Kudos on splitting the transfer case...I learned that little trick towing vehicles up, down, and around the little streets in German 'dorfs.' I'm thinking that my old wrecker would have pulled that truck right out on to the road (in the first pull you did) simply because of the weight of the rotator over the back wheels. OTOH, it HATED mud like that! BECAUSE of the weight of that rotator assembly, if I got into mud like that, I was done...recovering myself!

5tons were the work horse of the Marines back in the day when I was in. We made them do things we knew they weren’t designed for, but they ALWAYS the job done. Way to go Casey!!
The 5 ton is good for off highway work but cannot get into tight places or handle soft blow sand or deep mud. It has a place, but it couldn't compete "Off Road" against a good high floatation, tight turning, heavy wrecker with multiple high quality winches and boom. Dragging that drill rig onto the wet shoulder of the road was a rookie mistake.
@Casey's Off Road Recovery Man that thing sunk like a rock ( Chevy thing ) I was thinking boy I bet he wishes he had that big winch on there now But That big rope and the grunt of the 5 ton got it done
That was tedious, challenging and difficult; with a lot of mud and muck, & a very heavy vehicle to recover. Finally it breaks free & "both' land on pavement. The owners are lucky Casey has the vehicles, skill & gear to get him out. (Big ropes, big soft shackles, impressive).
Casey the 5 ton is a true work horse you got the job done is the most important thing. When I get the opportunity to meet you in person I would like to see the 5 ton in person I am sure the camera doesn't do it justice.
What happened with the other two, good old truck, certainly gets the job done, thanks for taking us along for the ride, all the best to you and your loved ones
I was sooooo willing the drill truck to cross that last few inches of shoulder, but apparently that didn't give you any extra horse power! But some Casey brains and a lot of brawn won the day.
I laughed at the river comment. Ya"ll don't get rain often lol. Guess we're very fortunate in Oklahoma we see that pretty often. Green grass and trees.
Great job! Man that stuff is messy and reminds me of how it is here in NC. When it rains out here people get stuck in their driveways. 😂 I definitely need a pair of muck boots 👢

Nice job Casey!! I was hollering at you to stop at the hard pack and not go off the other side but I guess you didn't hear me!! LOL!!! I was thinking stop on the hard pack and try spinning him around to head up to the asphalt. Wasn't sure if you could have spun the front of his truck up the incline or not though. You got him just fine the way you went. I never lost faith in you! I knew you'd "get-er-done" !!! 😄
Have a trick for you , lay your hands on some decommissioned fire hoses about 3" and 4" cut into 2' long sections slide smaller into larger use for soft shackle against sharp edges ..if nervous about sharp edges split 3" open and slide between 3" and 4" so it's a 3 ply sleeve remember which side is split on 3rd ply / middle layer.. Doesn't last as long using steel chokers .....
As soon as I saw that back end dropped in after the driveway, I would have thought to pull it back onto the driveway backwards and tried to pull our of there. I wouldn't have even thought to try and keep going forward.
That ground is probably getting to the point where even a pickup with good mud tires would sink and get hung up on virgin ground ( never mind trying to follow those tracks ! ) . Oilfield up here gets into all sorts of mess come spring until they just have to shut it down, then rains during the summer create all sorts of fun all over again and why winter time allows for getting things done on frozen ground as long as they blade off the snow so the ground will freeze properly. Cats and large tractors with big singles and skidder type chains all the way around and big winches dragging trucks around, got to get that oil out of the ground !. Not that it would have prevented this stuck but I noticed those were single chains on the drives, that is asking for a stuck on anything soft.
