We moving to newfoundland in 4 months from Montreal ! cant wait !!! Dreaming of this homesteading life really enjoy your videos Happy to watch you again ! welcome back!☺️
We've been on the BC Ferries between Vancouver and Nanaimo, we were very impressed compared to our experience with Marine Atlantic 😆. To be fair, the staff were amazing! They can't help that they are on the Atlantic and the boat doesn't work half the time 😅
We are between two little mountains in the highlands in Cape Breton. It keeps us from the really high winds but we seem to get more snow than other places! We took the tarp off our shelter logic for Fiona! We were worried it would blow away 😄
Wow, that was quite a trip! Hope you had a great get-away, when you finally got off the ferry! Noooo, your greenhouse!!!! 🤦♀️ Looking forward to your next video, thanks for posting! Happy Easter 🐣 🐇
What a trip 😅. Nice to hear again from you. I missed the updates on Cape Breton winter. I hope the greenhouse survives. Didn’t you have the chickens in there last winter? Happy Easter!
We did! The chickens are living with my cousin this winter. We knew we wanted to visit family over Christmas and March break so they are enjoying a lovely winter about 30 minutes away.
Great video! I’ve done this trek a few times (from Ontario) and yes… “expect the unexpected “ haha Makes me almost want to make the trek again (but now from Saskatchewan…) … almost! Haha Stay safe friends.
As long as you have a cabin booked and extra time, it's all good! 🤣 I have seen whales and dolphins on the Argentia crossing in July! That's pretty cool
oh my, I found your video looking for what sort of paper work (identification wise) we need to take the ferry over and back. My partner was born in NFLD and never got her driver's license, but she does have a expired passport. We tried to go to Service Canada for a identification card that is suppose to give her the second photo ID because everyone asks for 2, and the Health Canada card (photo ID ) is not acceptable??? okay! But apparently she needs the second ID to get this card too? ok now we are in a loop? We are planning a trip late July to drive from Barrie Ontario to North Sydney to catch the ferry over and have book hotels along the way. But after watching your ordeal now you have made me a little more nervous about problems along the way. The hotels all assured us that the rooms would be there if we are a little late but we thought hours not days. Sorry you had such a ordeal and with small kids, who on camera were perfect little angels, only you know how the rest of that trip went. lol From what you had to show at the crossing do you think, (we call the port and they said 2 ID and felt the passport would be ok) the expired Passport an Health card will be enough? IT's a bit of a trip to get turned around at the ferry. Thanks for any thoughts you might have and have a wonderful summer.
I'm pretty sure if you go to the DMV with a birth certificate and your health card they can issue a photo government ID. It is the same ID that would be needed to fly domestically to get on the ferry. A drivers license or a government issued ID (looks the same as a license and you get them at the DMV). I hope you can get it sorted!
@@ODriscolls unfortunately the only birth certificate she has was generated by her younger brother thru their local church back in Gambo and its a photo copy, sent by email print of a picture taken at the archives. Tell me those civil servants in Service Ontario are going to yield to that.?
@@southerncomfort971 they probably will yield to it in Newfoundland to generate a modern birth certificate. I would contact vital statistics (or whatever it's called there) in Newfoundland about it!
Do you have any recommendations for a timber house builder in Nova Scotia? I've been looking but as I'm from Ontario I'm having trouble finding someone I trust.
My husband and I are arguing about your husband’s accent. He is insisting your husband is from Ireland and I do not agree. Please settle this argument before I go insane 😂
My accent has become very mild since being out of newfoundland for ten years. There are fellas in Newfoundland you'd have a hard time understanding. - Dom
The Irish settled in Newfoundland many many years ago . The O'Driscoll ancestors are said to have come from County Cork.the people from the Southern Shore and St Mary's Bay have a heavy Irish Brogue

Oh that's awesome! Newfoundland is incredible!
And to think I thought the B.C. Ferries on the West Coast was bad😅 Thank you for this eye opener😂

That is a crazy trip!!! I never knew those ferries were sooo unpredictable. Thanks for the heads up 😃😃
Omg it is wild! The Highlander always has mechanical issues (the problem this time) and the weather will get you too.
I missed the O'Driscoll comedy show. I do feel a bit better about the BC Ferries that we have on deal with on Vancouver Island though 😂
I was so impressed with the BC Ferries after the Marine Atlantic 😅
Where you to in Nova Scotia, Fiona uncovered my tractor with the logic shelter up in the trees patio stones and all.

Are we at Newfoundland House? I love that. Enjoy your visit home.
Thank you! She's too cute
He has Resin , Happy Easter. Been awhile since you gave been on , been thinking about you all hope all is well with everyone.
Happy Easter Cory! Thank you for thinking of us!
I’m planning on doing this crossing for the first time in September. Thank you for the walkthrough!
May the odds be ever in your favour 😅
Wow, that was quite a trip! Hope you had a great get-away, when you finally got off the ferry!

I really enjoyed the video…thanks for sharing the experience!
Thanks Robert!
It's good to have a trip that will make you remember the happenings.
it was a nice video😊
Thanks :) I'd like to visit Hokkaido
I really enjoyed this vlog. thank you for taking the time to record, edit and post. Miss you guys.
Thank you, Nate! I'm feeling happy to be back. You might even see another video soon 😅. We hope you and Katie are well!!
what a trip ! Marine Atlantic seems to have lots of problems. great video. The children seemed to weather the crossings well.
I got stuck in an airport in Japan for 12 hours. Delays are never fun during a trip. But the fact you’re stuck on a boat really sucks.
You guys are so chill, my husband and I would have been divorced after the first delay 😂😂😂😂 we’re chill when all is well haha
We weren't kidding when we said it wasn't the worst trip to Newfoundland 😅
Now I`m wondering what your worst trip was like. Respect for surviving this trip with two little ones!

Lol I was on a ferry once back in 1990 from NS to PEI. Well, I mean I’ve been on the Englishtown ferry visiting dad but that doesn’t count 😂
The Englishtown Ferry is awesome! I was on the ferry to PEI once and there were bagpipers! It was neat
@@ODriscolls lol it’s definitely more reliable than the North a Sydney Ferry 😆 no bagpipers for me 🥲 I wish !

I'm sorry, I don't have any experience in that area!
I may know someone , where in Nova Scotia?
Totally bummer about the green house guys
😂 every second week im on them
