  • Glaucoma is a condition that gets worse over time, and without treatment it may cause permanent blindness. Historically, the way to treat the problem is with eye drops, but anyone who uses them knows what a pain that can be! Joining us to discuss significant advances in glaucoma surgery is Dr. Inder Paul Singh with the Eye Centers of Racine and Kenosha.
For more information or to contact the Eye Centers of Racine and Kenosha, visit AmazingEye.com or call (262) 637-0500.

I was diagnosed with glacoma in 2009. I was placed on the required eye drops and Everytime I went back to optomoligist pressure wasn't going down . Sent me for a second opinion and he stated I need surgery to put in a shaunt to reduce the pressure and my vision was worst than before and the pressure is still elevated with the drops. Sought a third opinion and they vowed it would get better if I got surgery on the other eye. They put in a shaunt, removed cataract, and put in a lens implant and I still can't see well. I have now been accepted into the Lighthouse for the blind for low vision .

I am sorry to hear that that Has to be disappointing. My doctor told me the shunt cannot be adjusted post operation the way a Trabeculectomy can be adjusted so I went with that instead and that got my pressure down to nine post surgery.

My very skilled and experienced doctor told me as my pressure got up around 22 in a three month period while I had been taking eyedrops for years that I was past the point of benefiting from the stents and we ended up doing a trabeculectomy which brought my eye pressure down to nine so no drops from that either but obviously that’s more invasive than the stents. Based on all my research the stents should be used in early stage but not once your pressure gets up around 20-ish while taking the drops.

In August of 2019, the CyPass Micro Stents were withdrawn world wide as they were actually causing damage based upon a five year post surgery study! "At five years, the CyPass Micro-Stent group experienced statistically significant endothelial cell loss compared to the group who underwent cataract surgery alone.

It’s true the stent surgery is very new and there’s not a lot of statistics to back up the claims so that should make you a little nervous.

I have had the glaucoma for 16 years. I was diagnosed when I was nine and I've been taking eye drops ever since. Right now I'm a on 4 eye drops and they've been lowering my pressures. Because of this I never had glaucoma surgery just cataract surgery as a baby. Glaucoma can sometimes be a challenge because sometimes eye drops can be expensive or I forget to take my evening eye drop sometimes but I am used to taking drops and seeing my glaucoma specialist for check-ups.

When you do visual field test, for a short time of about 5 minutes per eye, you are testing all areas of your eyes and visual parts of your brain. This is the only time that damaged areas of your optic nerve and visual parts of your brain will do real exercise; in or other ciscumstance healthy areas will cover up the deficiencies to help you to see better; This is why glaucoma and stroke silently takes a bit of your vision each day without you noticing anything until it is too late. Eye drops and operations help to control the the eye pressure and slow down the progress.
There is also another option to consider; practicing eye exercises that test your ability to see even with area partialy affected by glaucoma or stroke. This practice induces slow regeneration of the damaged areas. This is proven by numerous studies for both stroke and glaucoma. For the stroke, exercise is absolutely accepted and required. For glaucoma, exercise as a requirement is a new area of studies and acceptance.
What do scientists say about vision exercise: "“When people have a stroke that affects the motor system, they are sent to rehab as soon as possible,” says Huxlin, the James V. Aquavella, M.D. Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester’s Flaum Eye Institute. “They get retrained to use a weak arm or leg, and to regain speech.”
“But if they have a stroke that affects vision, which involves more than 30 percent of our brain matter and is our dominant sense, they are told there’s essentially nothing that can be done.” They’re told “they should go home and get used to being blind.” "
So what is the possible solution of this dilema at this time?
Try this, simple, but rich with options, Android app, available on Google Play, which enables you to do something about your eyesight every day without any side effects. If you ever been to visual field test, you allready know how to use the app. There is only one time $4.99l fee, no ads, and you can use the app for years to come. The following visual dot algorithms are embedded: random, linear(vertical/horizontal/angle), mirroring, neighbour areas, nasal peripheral, visual cognitive recognition, each with options of background colors, dot size and interval from slow to very fast.

It's ironic that I'm watching this because I had a glaucoma appointment yesterday and my eye pressure was pretty good 16 in my left eye and 20 in my right eye. However my glaucoma specialist wants my right eye a little bit lower just like my left eye. She's going to switch one of my eye drops to either lumigan, Travatan, or rhopressa. It's ironic because I used to be on Lumigan when I was first diagnosed with glaucoma

If AGEs (advanced glycation end products) can be cleared away from ECM (extracellular matrix),
glaucoma can't be effectively treated and reversed and in the end, blindness seems not avoidable.
God's mercy nano-grade eye drops can clear away AGEs and similar polar molecules.
If ECM can be kept in normal condition, of course, aqueous humour circulation won't be blocked
and IOP can be kept in normal range.
All glory belongs to God !
