Brilliant! I had the great privilege of touring with Caravan as lighting designer about 45 years ago. Overwhelming musicianship, beautiful people. Such a thrill to see them them all. We've all got less hair but the same lust for life. God bless you Maurice, a true treasure x
@TomThatcher1 Well, those were hazy days back then but Maurice was the "kind of" tour manager a good, cheerful and funny friend to everyone. He wrote a great song which Caravan played.
The Canterbury sound. This band.with all its members past and present deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. I've been a fan always and live they just always hit the spot somewhere deep the recess of your mind called bliss.
Magnifique !
I can't imagine how it was to live in the 70s while this wave of prog rock rose. I really love this songs and I'm not even 20 years old! Fortunately I can enjoy prog rock nowadays thanks to the internet, but I'm sure it was a whole other thing back in the day
Geoffrey Richardson is a beast! He takes the guitar solo also. The new drummer is also a master. I miss Richard Sinclair on bass and singing with the Caravan.
Marco , I agree. This is pretty darn good , I'm considering seeing them again this autumn. The singing on this is a tad below par... ... I'll probably go tho'
I've discovered this song not too long ago, but I was mesmerized. I remember I've listened to it in a loop whilst I was driving to France for about 400 miles. Never tired to listen to it....and the violin solo....goose bump
I'm not sure how this is possible, I bought the Land Of The Grey and Pink Album in 1970 and a little while Caravan performed in the town I was living in, great band, that was 52 years ago yet I'm still only 35....wow that was some aceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed :) Far Out Man! Nine Feet Underground (Live) Caravan Look at the day that is dawning, what do you see with your eyes? Think of me now while you're yawning, sunshine the tears from my cries What I see I know is real, what I touch I know I feel If I don't care for what you say, it won't mean much to me today For I see your world that is living, my mind is yours, yours is mine Don't talk to me bout forgiving, so much to do, no more time All my love goes straight to you with just a thought for something new All I have is what you feel with hands in mouth, you gently kneel What I see I know is real, what I touch I know I feel All my love goes straight to you, all my love is you There's a place where I can go, where I listen to the wind singing Songs of happiness I know, and it brings it all back again Somewhere deep inside of me, there's a song that I can sing Jigsaw puzzles on a tree, and it brings it all back again Will the day be warm and bright, or will it snow? There are people waiting here who really want to know And sometimes I think of wine, songs and laughter flowing free People talking all the time, and it brings it all back to me Will the day be warm and bright, or will it snow? There are people waiting now who really have to know Can't you feel it in the air? I wonder what it's meant to be Its the thought that can't' be spared, and it brings it all back to me Yes it brings it all back to me
There is in yt a guy with keyboards etc who does the whole piece good singer also. There is a certain season in The Everglades. Outing theologies it turns Grey and pink for sunset
I "Love" this track from 'In The Land Of Grey and Pink', and remember very clearly when they play this at The Reading Festival in 1975...And even now with the necessary changes in the line-up, they still play it beautifully, but sadly the vocals let it down, maybe they could get in a vocalist just for the live gigs? Still wonderful to hear it LIVE after all these years.
Some friends turned me onto Caravan in fall, 1974. I saw the band open for Wishbone Ash November, 1974 Cunning Stunts tour Wishbone Ash: " There's the Rub" My second Caravan show wasn’t until 2002 at that year's Nearfest, held in Trenton at Patriots theater . "If but for Caravan, where would I be?!"
The fact that the voices have aged a bit and the notes can’t be hit, makes this track even better . Love the fiddle and the flute. I’ve loved Caravan since they started. They just love their music.we can all love together.
This is such a monumental work! I don't know where to start, or where to end. I could listen to this at least once a day, and never, ever tire of listening. So creative, and so fresh. Okay, so I'm an old guy, but this medley really lights my fire. It's a pity that I visited Canterbury for one night in 1991, and didn't think to visit haunts of "the Canterbury scene".
Fuck, this is awesome. Musical masters. I cant tell you how many times I have seen them live. Oh go on then I will, 100's. Seriously. Every member is stunningly brilliant! .I love every member, but highlight the drummer, Geoff Richardson and Pye ( I cant quite get those high notes anymore ) Hastings. One of many places I have seen Caravan was at The Catacombs, Wolverhampton. Rammed, totally rammed with fans. Smoke, Ale and the sound of Caravan. I hate the saying "better than sex"............But, jeeeez they were! Why oh why did the not get much greater recognition?
Excellent-what a great comment-this is timelessly beautiful music and I've always maintained way too short at 18 minutes!!Used to see them back in the 1970's at University in London and they were first class-started catching them again in the last 10 years on their sporadic tours and never been disappointed-as you say,Pye 's voice has gone but hey-better than dropping it to a different key i reckon. The star for me is Geoff Richardson-multi instrumentalist par excellence and a great front man-I could listen to him solo on the violin/viola all night-consummately lyrical and musical his soloing on the live versions of Nightmare always reduce me to a state of near tears.
Great classic Canterbury Prog band. I fell in love with Caravans music in the early 2000’s. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a band late.
just saw these legends live at the tea rooms 14/10/2021.me and my mate took our kids 14 and 16 caravan proper rocked it kids were blown away great night awesome musicians.😎
Came here surprised they still play around. And holy mother, I wasn't expecting them to make this 50 years old piece evolve so much. They really nailed this
As a Chinese university student,I am wondering where can I watch their live show.I will be appreciate if you guys have any useful information. For camel/caravan I would like go to England or Japan or Au
just found a prog music festival which Caravan will perform in UK but I am preparing the bar exam in CN so I cannot take part in the festival... so sad
It's well... Caravan! Pie Hastings (founding member), Geoffrey Richardson (since 72), Jan Schelhaas (since 76), Jim Leverton (since 95) and Mark Walker (since 2011)
Wybitni artyści. Cudowna muzyka.Od wielu lat w moim sercu.

Never ,never never can get enough of this track.
I heard it hundreds of times ,first in the seventies.
Arriving in 2023 it still goes strong.
same here
The whole album In the land of grey and pink is a musical jewel.
The heavy cardboard art cover shone incredibly under blacklight. Gentrification no idea of what vinyl i saved... Miami
Absolutely. One of my favourite albums from the 70's... I still play it regularly. It's great to see them perform it Live again.
it's 2024 and this is the first time I'm hearing them and this I'm late in life now and I wish I heard them when they came out but I'm a fan now
It's the same for me. Well, it's never too late.
Welcome aboard!
The Canterbury sound. This band.with all its members past and present deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. I've been a fan always and live they just always hit the spot somewhere deep the recess of your mind called bliss.
I used to lay in bed with my earphones on all night listening to this ,, fantastic band ,, I had every one of their albums ..
Magnifique !

Superb version of this classic, Geoff Richardson makes this his own 👏
Das war für mich 1975 der Anfang
The Best
I love the new album ("It's None of your business")!!! So happy they're still playing and making new songs!
just gotten into caravan, literally this past month, and man, it’s so fresh

That Catacombs show was brilliant, one of the all time top shows.
I am impressed. Was going to listen to the studio and saw this. Well done!

Came here surprised they still play around. And holy mother, I wasn't expecting them to make this 50 years old piece evolve so much. They really nailed this
Saw them guys twice in the last couple of years: Terrific! A must-see!
Stewart is the GOAT
the violin player ,,,oh my god ..fantastic
He's great. A viola though I think
@@terrynolan609 i,ll take your word on that?

Nice version, but oh, we are not getting younger.... :( good health to you, old chaps!
Jan Schelhaas on keyboards
@@fmtfniuprog8029 thank you for the info.
bravi
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Someone has the lineup? Thanks.
It's well... Caravan! Pie Hastings (founding member), Geoffrey Richardson (since 72), Jan Schelhaas (since 76), Jim Leverton (since 95) and Mark Walker (since 2011)
"If I could do it all over again, I'd do it all over you"... And they did!!!
Nonetheless they're great
Is that Larry Bird on drums?
No, it's Mark Walker!
I know, but he looks like basketball player Larry Bird :)
Je préfère la version sur disque !
without sinclair's vocals it's not the same. he's a genius and carried the band on his back.
Does anyone else hear an echo in the introduction?
old men ...feffin great , Conan UK
Fiddle about
Musica não tem tempo...
Interesting, but not an improvement on the original.
Apart from the drummer, they have the stage presence of a bunch of garden gnomes....
Who are they? This is the worst version I ever heard!
