- This is how you can extend a frame in Camtasia. I'm using Techsmith Camtasia 2021, and if you want to create a still frame or a freeze-frame for a number of seconds, this is how you do it. In this tutorial for Camtasia I show you how you can extend any frame on a clip on your timeline, for as many seconds as you like. If you need to add narration to a clip and you find that you need more time on a particular still image to explain things, you can expand that frame until you've finished narrating.

I can't find this feature in Camtasia 2022 on Mac, but I figured out that holding Option and dragging the end of the clip to the right will extend the frozen frame.
Exactly, not all shortcuts are exposed in the interface. Same on Windows, it's ALT + drag.

Hi Cristi, can you change the default "Extend Frame" time from 1 second to another time? I have a need to make about 20 extends in a video and they all need to be 3 seconds, right now I have to click the box twice to go from 1 second to 3 twenty times. Thank You!
What I do is, I make a cut, remove the part I don't want, then ALT + DRAG and extend the frame as long as I want, until it meets the other chunk of video.
It's not working- because it's not showing that windows where you can choose how long do you want the freeze to be; it's setted automatically to 1 second and it can't be changed; even when I click on duration is not doing anything, not opening anything. What can I do?
What version of Camtasia do you have? Some versions of 2021 have the extend frame broken, it was a bug. It was fixed in later versions, so make sure you have the latest.

Well, it's quite simple if you have the right footage - the landscape/room with and without you in it, and then perhaps the most difficult part is finding a video footage of smoke ripples like he uses when he transitions in and out. If you can find that, you're set. The procedure is really the same like in that video except for the smoke footage, if you can't find one with alpha, you must remove the color using chromakey/remove color effect in Camtasia... it might work or not, depending on the footage. That's it really.

Hi, I'm afraid that's not possible in Camtasia. I wish it was because I'd love that too. I am always scrolling manually while it's playing, trying to keep the cursor in the middle. It would be a great feature.
