"Want" is my No1. It was the 3rd song I heard from Taemin and 5 seconds in I knew this was it. It fit my music taste perfectly. Afterwards I felt like walking on clouds for 2 days; like a natural high. Never had that before.

I sincerely am of the opinion that the production, the sound, the super deep and sensual lyrics (always worth to have the sub on with him), the music video and all of the stages of the promotion were absolute world class and I still wait for the day that some TikToker whoever makes this go viral and chart dramatically everywhere. It's like a hidden masterpiece and it can drive you mad that only a certain group of people know about it 🤣, first world problems. On a side note I always am amazed by the fact that Taemin wearing a super average outfit for a dance practice makes no difference at all for the impact of the grace and insane beauty of his movements. Mesmerising even in sackcloth and a plastic bag.

In "Want" Taemin is supposed to be portraying Lucifer. That's why he seems to have a love affair with those snakes. (The ones he is holding are real snakes.) And, like Lucifer, he is supposed to be seducing the audience and the girl using his devilish powers, which is why the choreography looks like he is slithering like a snake. The gate you see him standing in front of is supposed to be a representation of "The Gates of Hell" from French artist Auguste Rodin. Taemin is Catholic, and most of his MVs showcase his faith as it tells the story using numerous Biblical references. As you discovered, that's not just any female dancer in Taemin's "Want" MV. The girl you see highlighted in the shadows is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is the leader and main dancer of aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before aespa's debut. ("Want" was released in February 2019 and aespa didn't debut until November 2020.) She also participated in some of his live comeback stage performances and, as you saw, she was in his "Want" dance practice video.

Many people think that "Want" has a vampire vibe, and I can see where some might get the vampire feel from this MV. After all, one of Taemin's nicknames is SHINee's eternal vampire because in some performances and MVs, the way he looks and the aesthetic of the performance gives him a vampire image. But if you understand the story he is trying to tell within the MV, it's much deeper than that.
Want felt like Move 2.0 to me, which means I loved it, but also it won't be among my top favorites. My favs are always the ones that felt completely fresh when I first heard them.
