Once he had his own creative identity, he ran with it, and you’ll notice Taemin deals a lot with duality in his music. There is Taemin the person, then Taemin the idol, and though he tries to separate the two there will always be some of himself if the music and persona he creates when in the studio and on stage. His success was born from the countless hours he spent (and continues to spend) working and practicing and refining his work. He was my bias in 2008 and watching him grow and mature over the years into the idol’s idol he is now has been so inspiring. So 6 years after his debut with SHINee, when he was offered the opportunity to release a solo album (as a first member of an active group and only at 21 years old) it was like a dream come true for him! He surely grabbed this chance and showed everyone (even those who didn’t believe in him) what he’s really capable of. The rest is history. He became an icon and absolute blueprint when it comes to solo acts in K-pop. I can’t wait for his comeback, cause for me K-pop is really dull without The Legendary Male Soloist (one of his many titles/nicknames given by the industry).
