    Brings back some crazy memories, back in 92-94 I was in DC. The Greaseman kept me sane for those years!
    How somebody could say such things on the radio? I didn't care! I used to record the show every day!

    I miss "The Greaseman" also. He was on the radio all day long at every place I worked for about 15 years. Newington VA, Winchester VA, Keyser WV. He used to have a RUclips channel but I don't think he's uploaded since about last Christmas.

    • @EarlofBaltimore
      @EarlofBaltimore  2 года назад +2

      Familiar with most of that area. The family has a camp on the Cacapon and I've done quite out bit of work out in Winchester myself. Thanks for checking it out.

      @@EarlofBaltimore I think this is his RUclips channel but he doesn't upload much--ruclips.net/video/oevnz4XIeYg/видео.html
      He was on the radio station in Keyser WV for a short period, I'm thinking maybe one year. I can see the antennae for that station out my window. One of my high school buddies owned that station. "The Greaseman" came to the local Honda motorcycle dealer in Keyser one day, I drove by but I didn't stop, the crowd was too large.
      Now, the Honda dealership is gone, the Goldwing I bought there is sitting in the garage all covered with dust and cobwebs. My buddy sold the radio station, his son committed suicide. The station now plays some type of "progressive noise" that I don't even listen to. Yeah, I miss the days of "West Virginia"-- ruclips.net/video/EO4cTTpsCaI/видео.html
      And if your username "Earl of Baltimore" has anything to do with former Orioles manager Earl Weaver, I know about that also. I remember when the cloud of cigarette smoke covered up "Birdland" in left field by about the 7th inning.

      My username has everything to do with Earl Weaver. Best manager in O's history. No one gets that, nice to see that someone remembers. I had to manually reveal your comment, almost missed it due to stupid RUclips and it's list of blocked words.

      @@EarlofBaltimore We've been O's fans for as long as I can remember, my dad is 82 he never misses a game on TV. We had relatives in Essex, they always fixed crab cakes when we came down. I got a few autographs when I was a kid, Al Bumbry, Rich Coggins, Bob Grich, maybe a few others. The first game I went to the A's beat the O's 5-0 when they had Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Joe Rudi, Bert Campaneris, Vida Blue etc. At one game dads cousin caught a foul in the seat next to me and gave it to me, I still have it. Jim Palmer pitched it.
      Once I was trying to get autographs at the rail before the game. A Yankee pitcher was warming up, Thurmond Munson was catching right in front of us. A bunch of girls kept yelling "Thurmond Munson, Thurmond Munson" After a while he snarled 'WHAT"? They said "can we have your autograph, he snarled again, 'NO"! He died in a plane crash not long after that.
      Yeah, I remember Earl Weaver "that head a bobbin" George Bamberger and Ralph Salvon with his "freezy spray" also.

    Looking back, this is exactly the type of radio pablum that fed the masses stupidity when they could have been listening to saving money and retirement strategies.
    Nice to hear it now. But not what I needed then.

    • @EarlofBaltimore
      @EarlofBaltimore  2 месяца назад +1

      That's a pretty accurate take. It was a product of it's time. I guess people just wanted to be entertained and were a bit short-sighted beyond that.
