This looks like a great device. I am switching from Class C to Trailer and want that boon docking ability. Even at Walmart. I was going to install at the AC but i think this device has much more benefits - thks
@pokeyboy1 We are so happy to hear our vide was helpful! It's great to have the ability to boondock anytime you want! Thanks for watching and happy camping! 😃
Very useful video. I was very skeptical about spending this much money vs installing a soft start in the RV AC unit for half the price. This video was one of the videos that helped me justify the additional cost.
That would've come in handy on a hot summer day in a campground we were in. The voltage was too low (110v) to run my AC. I thought my AC was broke until I got home and used my generator to check if it was. Nope, musta been the low voltage. Maybe I should bring my generator along on hot camping days? After watching one of your videos, I bought a surge protector and those sewer cap removers using your Amazon page. Thanks for your review!
@bertkelly7650 This device is a game changer for sure! We are so glad to hear our videos have been helpful! Thanks for watching & supporting our channel! 🤩
Nice presentation. We have two Progressive Industries EMS units, but don’t have soft start which we need for our Honda Generator. We just purchased one of these Active Start units and believe it will smooth out the operation of the generator in eco mode when the A/C cycles. Also, I love the App and the ability to monitor how much you’re drawing from the Gen.
The all in one cost a bit more than installing soft start on the ac but well worth it. When I got our class C parked at home I can run my ac on house current! No kidding. When we get ready for a month long trip we got it plugged in and getting ready to go. Good video and demo for all to see. It might be pricey but it’s worth every penny.
Thanks Tonya and David! Wish this was available last year. I bought the Progressive Industries RV Surge Protector 30 Amp with Electrical Management System which give me the same info but on the pedestal.
@michaelsonleitner5724 We aren’t very familiar with that one. The soft start feature sure is a game changer! Does yours have the monitoring app? Thanks for watching! 🤩
@@OutsidebySide The surge protector was one recommended by Mike And Susan (RVBlogger) on their must haves for Newbies. It shows most of the info yours shows but it is on the device. No app for this (could position the device and read it via binoculars 😄😄)
I’ve seen in a lot of videos that you should start the generator first and let it run for 5 minutes and then plug your RV cable into the generator because it could damage the generator or fry the RV
What about using a solar system kit? Have you ever used one? Can you let us know what you think about it, is it worth it, and what your experiences are around the solar system for travel trailers, and we love your newbie vids, thx
@deestarholisticpractition6054 We have not had the opportunity to use solar but we would like to when we upgrade our trailer. Thanks for watching our videos & happy camping! 🤩
I'm still new to this, but quick question. One of the features of the wired in soft start is to lessen the AC "kick in" noise in the trailer. Does this product provide that feature also?
@@OutsidebySide This is focused on generator in rush current reduction. The soft starts for specifically for the AC also sold by Active Start would be your best bet for reducing the noise of compressor turn on.
@surgepro322able Good point! We were mainly focused on the 30 amp plug for the generator but we do use it at home often. It works great! Thanks for watching! 🤩
@davekepler8371 We are so happy to hear you found out channel! We would say that yes, the ActiveStart would help with the surge for your solar generator, however we have not tried it on a solar generator. Thanks for watching! 🤩
@dogtorphil We are so sorry to hear the SoftStartUSA has been hard to manage. We highly recommend the ActiveStart. It’s a great product. Thanks for taking the time to share. Happy camping! 😀
Wasn't hard to manage. They evidently shipped out some units that had been recalled, then I learned directly from the Owner, that they are aware of a serious issue with Coleman-Mach AC units. Within 5 mins of the unit being connected, it was so hot it was on the verge of melting and my cable 30 amp was extremely hot as well. Very dangerous situation that the manufacturer doesn't seem to have a handle on! Buyer Beware!
Based on size 2 15k BTU might be a stretch if they both engaged at the same time. Two 12k i imagine will work. Side question commercial or generator power? Generator in rush current might be to much if in ECO mode.
@ronskoog9896 We are showing that you can purchase on the Active Controls website. Here is the link: active-controls-llc.myshopify.com/ Please let us know if you have any additional questions! 🤩
Read that it will not work on camper set up for boondocks camping that has solar and inverter, something about inverter will shut it down, bummer for us boondockers
@lylewavel320 That’s interesting & we can definitely check with Active Controls on this! If you are boon docking w/ Solar, would you need this? Thanks for watching! 🤩
@OutsidebySide I would appreciate that, because I want one, but seen 2 comments that inverter caused it not to work, I would like to run my generator at home for back up if electric goes out in 110° heat index, just went through that 2 weeks ago, 4 days no power in northeast Texas
@artdaniels7598 Please let us know how that works out for you. The ActiveStart has been a gamechanger for sure and we highly recommend it. Thanks for watching and happy camping! 😀
@@OutsidebySide It's a great idea but costs way too much. I could probably pay someone to install a $60 soft start and still save money compared to purchasing the overly expensive plug.
@@OutsidebySideIt worked out great! I put in the $80 soft starter on top of my RV, and even with incomplete instructions that were not specific to my RV ac unit, I was still able to put it in correctly. Needless to say, I saved a ton of money using good old muscle and intellect.
