Macaque seemed pretty confused about what Nine Head was talking about when he asked him about his powers. I think Macaque just assumed that his shadow powers were just his own ability and never thought once about how he got them. Perhaps someone granted him this ability and he never knew.

@@Cherllyioin Jttw macaque is one of the primordials, not gods, but pieces of stone that existed before the gods and were brought to life by them. Macaque in the myth had the ability to hear everything past and future and be able to mimic anything, hence his ability to perfectly mimic wukong.though it seems that in monkey kid he doesn't have that ability anymore, not once do we see him knowing info by using his "six ears" This version of macaque likely trades away his omnipresence, a very op ability. Also macaque carried the will of the six desires who were killed by wukong at the start of the journey.He's the equivalent to wukong falling back into old habits. If macaque made a deal with someone there's a high chance it was either the six desires, or someone who wanted his omnipresence.
My theory about the deal, as soon as I noticed Macaque was confused when Xiangliu mentioned it, was that a Macaque of a previous cycle made a deal with a god/entity so powerful that it carried over into the current cycle. The Six-Eared Macaque's only abilities mentioned in JTTW were all just imitations of Wukong's powers and his many ears' ability to hear past/present/future. Meanwhile in Lego Monkie Kid, he has shadow/chaos powers and four of his ears are conspicuously absent. I think that some how, for some reason, the Macaque of a previous cycle "traded" his ability to hear the past/future in favor of the shadow abilities he had in s1-5 specifically so he could steal the chaos power from Xiangliu. If he did previously possess the ability to hear the future, the past Macaque may have been plotting against Xiangliu for a long time.
I disagree just because of some cannon things in the show itself, but to support your theory, cycles ably happen on earth I think, the chaos realm could just keep going, and I have the feeling that nine remembers other cycles, idk just a theory, but that could mean chaos energy is Amun to cycles, which would mean macaques powers would last in him through another cycle. I don't think Macaque made a deal, my theory is that he was born with the chaos powers. There is no backup on the 'Macaque used to have white fur' theory other than that people loved a Macaque from a different Journey to the West adaptation where he had white fur. It's confirmed on Macaque's character sheet that his six ears are hidden behind magic. I think that the theory that appearances change after making a deal is totally right but I don't think it applies to Macaque, hence why I think he was born with the abilities. Macaque is the only monkey not born from a stone, which could potentially mean that he wasn't created by Nuwa but by someone else. He's certainly unstable where his powers are concerned which could indicate that he's a 'defective' immitation of Wukong in the sense that his body can't whistand the magnitude of his powers whereas Wukong can, which is why Wukong seemingly has limitles potential but Macaque has a level cap. I call him a 'defective immitation' of Wukong, not because I think he's a clone but that whatever created him certainly used Wukong as some kind of blueprint but used a dark academia moodboard. Macaque and Wukong are two completely different kinds of monkey, they confirmed that Wukong and MK are stone moneys but Macaque is a mystic monkey but the show hasnt explained at all what that means. If season 6 doesn't give us a Macaque origin story im gonna be sad. lol
@@saysikeern202I’m glad my rambling and conspiracy theories make sense lol. Here’s the thing, people are assuming macaque made a deal because Nine assumed he did. It makes sense to Nine, Nine got his powers because he made a deal but that doesn’t necessarily mean macaque did too. Not to mention macaque didn’t seem to know what he was talking about. Unless he made a deal and somehow forgot which seems like lazy writing, it would make more sense that he was born with them because that would also explain how he doesn’t know where these powers originate from. These are his powers and he seems to be able to gauge his limitations pretty well despite his instability. It’s more likely that he had a cap before the journey to the west but either experienced something traumatic during the journey like the erlang burning down the mountain which caused him to lose control and losing that level cap which he can’t handle OOOR, his cap was removed my someone. It’s confirmed by the show that Macaque has lived in the mountain just as long as Wukong has (if I remember this part correctly, I think it was season 5 episode 1 or 2 where macaque and wukong are screaming at each other about MK) that would mean that he was likely also born in the mountain.
@Bri-gt1jt I would also add that in the flashback we got, it seemed that Mac had his powers for as long as Wukong knew him. Also where u say Mac lost control of his powers, I would relate that to the fight between Mac and Wukong where he was heard laughing manically and that mightve been due to his powers consuming him and causing him to embody them, to become chaotic.
@@saysikeern202 Yes I completely agree, and that was also exactly what I meant with macaque losing control. The flashback is the only instance where we can confirm that he was unstable. But he had his shadow powers before his fight with Wukong. His ears have always been hidden behind magic, even in the flashbacks which is why if Macaque HAS made a deal, which again I don’t think he has, it would’ve been between the time where Wukong had been imprisoned and the fight that ended up killing him. He still looks the same in all the flashbacks unless he’s been hiding his appearance behind magic which makes no sense because he clearly doesn’t seem to know what Nine is talking about. Even macaque is confused that he has chaos powers. HOWEVER he does seem to know exactly what his limitations are as seen when Nine has them all trapped and he frees them all. He collapses from fatigue and he knew that would happen. That’s why I say he has a level cap. It’s still all a theory but the possibility that perhaps a traumatic event or maybe a higher power, maybe the person that created Macaque, removed that cap and caused his instability. I’m relating it to adrenaline tbh.
I agree with this mainly because he is seen with his shadow staff in one of the flash backs in the brother hood so it doesn't make sense to me when he made a deal, also that still he still has his six ears so what would he give up a deal?
So... his deal kind of conitued over from the last cycle? That could be interesting! But... I do think it is from this timeline, since we are focusing on this Macaque from this timeline, and what he is dealing with. But stil, cool theory!!

Oh yea! I have seen their theory! His mask could also have changed (along with other parts of his body). Also true that Spider Queen and the hundred eyed demon are deadddddd - but it would be kind of "chaotic" if they suddenly brought old characthers we thought were gone back to life :)
macaque's missing six ears could probably be him hiding them with glamor and his hearing seems to be really sensitive(im pretty sure they would be cus bro has six ears that can hear past, present and future.). Like When Pigsy was singing Macaque's ears start ringing while Tang's doesn't. Mac having white fur doesn't really make too much sense to me since in flashbacks he has black fur. Plus he was created from Wukong's mind and was basically the evil wukong (how Wukong managed to basically befriend his sort of evil counterpart is beyond my understanding but it hella impressive). Maybe he might have white fur or atleast a lighter colour of fur and only uses glamor to hide his fur so people can tell him and wukong appart. Either way this theory is really interesting and I atleast hope something like this or something similar happens in the show because it would be interesting

Consider "The Winning Side" where he splits the van to two,just like the interpretation of the story in the book.Why do I think it's important? Cause this far,the series seems to be pretty caught up in the allegories.Look at Mr.Tang's speech in "Benched" that references Tripitaka as the allegory of heart,or Ao Lie's speech in "Court of The Yellow Robed Demon" where he said "A sword is powerless without the hand that wields it",which can be taken as a reference to how he represents human will (seen on how he sent Pigsy to get Wukong in that chapter,'The Horse of Human Will sends Eight Rules',or sum like that). They even referenced the journey's meaning in S5's end monologue by Mr.Tang basically saying that it's not destination that matters,but the journey that they do. Also,this one seems really far fetched,but in a way,MK getting the most mental burden (from basically doing everything,just like Wukong back then) can be connected to how Wukong & Macaque are the allegory of mind (I mean,they're referred to as 'two minds'). But hey,that's my interpretation on it (holy moly this is long)
I have a theory connected to Macaque’s powers. When Wukong mentioned that he only trusts the people present, and Macaque reacted with surprise, I couldn't help but think of his reaction differently than what most people might think. Macaque’s response felt a bit off to me, despite it making sense in his situation. Given the strong hints-or maybe even a reveal-that Macaque might have struck a deal to gain his powers (since the original Macaque didn’t have these abilities), his reaction might indicate that he’s also unsure of himself. He could be worried that the demon he made a deal with will come after him, forcing him to betray everyone to pay off his debt. This could introduce a new villain they all have to face, with Macaque grappling with the consequences of his deal. It might even set the stage for a villain in season 7 if the series continues.

Nine headed demon, asks Macaque with whom he made a deal with to get his powers, which makes me think that Macaque powers are related to Chaos, which is not surprising, like Shadows being connected to abyss and dark magic and all of that and Macaque asks what deal? Which can mean two possibilities One: Macaque is lying and he really got some bad habits of making deals Two: Macaque has no idea what he is talking about, which leads to two other possibilities One that Macaque made a deal but doesn’t remember, which means his memories had been manipulated, or two Macaque is born with this power like we all assuming but there is a part of it a depth that even he doesn’t know yet, which makes me think there is still a lot about his past that we don’t know, we really don’t give him enough credit, I mean he is a celestial primate, beings that only had four of them in the entire world his shadows turning from purple highlighted to orange same as nine Power Aka the same as the “Chaos” and then that same power is seen in the staff, at the end and Macaque turn his head, after like he felt it Which makes me think, do you think next season will be Macaque Centric? @@Cherllyio Hey never watched any of your theories before so going in completely blind on this but I think one thing The Nine Headed Demon said might tell how Macaque got his powers. He suggests that he's known monkey King many times, but seeing how Monkey King had not seen him before (or he'd probably remember) most likely it was in the universe prior to this. So if that's the case I'd say the previous Macaque might have made the deal and thus because chaos is a power that transcends the universe he probably may have had it in the following existence.
Hello, it’s me again now I been thinking about this one for a while, but may be the reason why my Mac was able to cut him off so easily is because his order Power he got from the lady bone demon was able to cut off the chaos powers but intervening the connection he was then connected to the chaos power. Just a theory, but it could work.
Oh yeah, I forgot one last thing Mac did make a deal with LBD, she would resurrect him in exchange for her freedom. Maybe LBD gave him her powers to make freeing her possible but when he refused he still has possession of this power and Mac may not known that the power was in the deal.
I've Researched on this topic, and apparently a Red Snake Demon that can KINDA, SORTA make or use Shadow-like Powers. It's even Mentioned in Journey to the West, few times in the Book. Honestly, I feel like for Season 6, Macaque will end up just getting out of control due to that Red Snake Demon taking control of his mind, really. Then, the others will have to find a way to stop this new Enemy while also trying to save Macaque.

I have a feeling its just a catalyst of LBD bringing him back. It's been said that LBD was the one to bring him back, and with how much knowledge she has and her understanding of destiny, I don't think its a stretch that she used the power of primordial chaos to bring Macaque back, this kinda infusing him with some control over it, and thus letting him unbind himself from The Nine Headed Demon's chaos bindings

@@Cherllyio I suppose, but Macaque does not seem to understand what’s really going on with his powers, the only indication was him seemingly knowing his powers can effect those chaos bindings. But his reason for being alive again was entirely cause of LBD. It feels like she’s just the right fit, maybe chaos was just the only thing she could use to bring him back, and her believing she can reign in chaos due to her foreseen destiny may be why.
I now understand what nine meant when he said you and what’s remaining it means that other people will make deals with the gods so he’s saying that it (others making deals) will happen so u (mk) and the others will have to fight against them
I really like this theory but there is something that confused me. Macaque in the S4 flashbacks didn't have his six ears and his white hair so is it possible Macaque made the deal before that moment and before their fight. Maybe Macaque over time lost control of his powers which resulted in the fight between him and Wukong. If you answered this in the video I'm sorry it might have flown over my head.

I do think he made the deal before the fight (and probaly also before they met the brotherhood) and then when things started to get bad, between him and Wukong, he also started to loose control of his powers (because maybe his powers are connected in some way to his mental health if that makes sense?)
In the book it was said that he wasn’t the only six eared macaque and he was the last of his kind so maybe got it from the others either before or after they died so he didn’t make a deal hence why he was confused about a deal
I wonder if the Rakshasa will appear in this show, for those who dont know who those are they're essentially a race moslty malevolent beings with supernatural powers, as for why they could show up is due to one rakshasa known as the demon nonkey of destruction being responsible for the creation of the four spiritual monkeys of destuction(wukong, macaque, 2 others), while not the main threat Dmod might make for a good early season big bad giving Wukong and Macaque some existential drama as they find the dark truth of their origins and face their maker possibly acompanied by two long forgotten brothers.
I'm actually confused about that.Cause isn't Princess Iron Fan described as a Rakshasi (female equivalent)? Also,one of the descriptions of a Rakshasa is 'jailer/torturer of hell' that has goat or bull heads (DBK is said to be inspired by Ox-Head,one of Yama's agent).(Does this means Red Son's species is a Rakshasa? Makes sense I guess) So in a way they're already here. Man,I never thought Indian mythological creatures in China would confuse me this much.

I have been reading all of your comments. Allow me to put some input. During the final battle with the 9-headed guy, we see the orange stuff, the “chaos energy” right? We see 9-head guy asking about Macaque’s powers, mentioning a deal and Macaque having no idea about it. His powers seem to do some damage to the guy, separating him from the chaos briefly. Then, the conversation between him and MK happened and he mentioned someone was winning. What if that someone was the person Macaque supposedly “made a deal with”? And he doesn’t remember because his memories were altered or he was too young at the time? Because during the ending speech, he looks worried at his hand which goes from purple to orange. Not to mention Wukong’s staff at the end with orange sparks and Macaque is the only one who looked at it with concern. All I’m saying is that maybe Macaque will have a bigger role in season 6 and maybe our ship between Wukong and Macaque will get better or worse. Maybe we get to see what happened between them…
I dont know if you watched monkey king 2009 but macaque making a deal was a thing there and thats also how he gained most of his powers maybe you can find more parallels but theres so many similar stuff even to macaque having a different appearance and the deal changing how he looks over time a channel called monkie central is uploading them in sub monthly right now if ur interested
Ok this is my theory so the reason why Macaque's power changed red at the end is i think because his power reverted back to his original power which was "Chaos Energy" now this might be a stretch but hear me out we know in the old sets Macaque's clone color components were Red rather than purple shadowy colors i willing to bet when he was created he was a weapon of chaos hence why he kept saying the term Weapon during the time he was mentoring MK within that one episode and we know from the original Macaque never had "Shadow Powers" meaning he got these powers from a deal but who? I am willing to bet that the Red Phyton Demon Deal Theory might be true based of the info i mean the power is "RED" he got his powers from a deal based of what the 9 headed demon said also during the begging of S5 Wukong,MK and Macaque were brought to the place of the kings and that they were "Chaos" which backs up the fact that Macaque could have had powers related to "Chaos" and now you might say how about him being confused about his powers from a deal? If he got his powers from a deal he should know about it well what if he lost memories about it when he got resurrected we know for a fact Macaque is basically "DEAD" but got revived by LBD meaning maybe he hasn't fully got all his past memories and forgot about the deal or maybe he was affected by the scroll before and lost his memories about it or his memories were scrambled during resurrection or after making the deal to make him think he was born with those powers rather than a deal all in all i am excited for S6 ngl the animation on S6 still looks dope and gives similar vibes to the OG it might be more stiff and less flowy but it's still good can't wait for S6 and i hope they let WildBrain cook more rather than rush them like let em cook.

ok just a heads up i wanted to ask this theory out by a person who actually searches about the character alright? so when xiangliu (i think i spelt it corretly?) said "im your old friend! you just don't remember..." i thought the in the previous cycle sun wukong was mk and when sun wukong jumped into the pillar it didnt work since he wasnt in his full power or something... so it didnt work so when the new cycle started xiangliu made sure he was in his full power mastering them with ease thats why he said "finally..." FINALLY???!!! (this is just a theory since i got skeptical since sun wukong doesnt know him... neither does azure, macaque, lady bone demon and other characters... xiangliu IS THE BIG BAD!)
It does seem like they know eachother from like a previous cycle, that Xiangliu remembers, but Wukong doesent. And it could be a possibility that Sun Wukong took the role of MK in some timelines! and the "full power"-thing? Yea! that is a possiblity too! Cool thoery! I will remember that!

I think that the whole thing about not remembering may be because Xiangliu could be from a past cycle, or remember the past cycle, which this could also explain why in the episode where we met Mei's Great Uncle, Wukong referenced a specific version of events. also, the Six Eared Macque and the Macaque King from the Brotherhood were not the same guy in the original story but are in the show, but if all these differences are because of different cycles, then that explains why different versions of the same stories are often used here.
The only deal that I could think of that Macaque made was the one with the lady bone demon to bring him back to life. But past that the only thing that I could think of is that someone granted Macaque his powers.
Not gonna lie, the four evils representatives kind of remind me of the Great Companions 'flaws'? Gluttany(Tang is usually seen eating more than he needs), stubborness(Pigsy is depicted as a stubborn creature), arrogance(we all know thats Mei-) and chaos(could be a reference to Sandy's past? But fits MK's title of harvenger of Chaos better). Just brainfood.
Personally, I think the four perils make unspoken deals, since Macaque was confused when Nine asked. I Theorize that the more a person acts in coordination to the perils, the more connected they become. To which one of the perils can decide who let tap into their power. If you’ve seen Vox Machina, I speculate it’s like Percy and Orthax.
This is unrelated,but have you considered making a theory about how there's been a big underworld theme going on? R.V Sketch's theory on LBD has me realising that we've got 2 major manipulator villains that are Diyu-related (if you think about it,Nine Heads can benefit from LBD's plan to erase the entire world) and 4 villains that are thrown out of there (all of which are Wukong's former friends,that's crazy). But also the theme of cycles and death,since Nine-Heads here is taking the place of Zhuanlun Wang,the King that is in charge of reincarnations.If you know where I'm going specifically with this one,it might explain Wukong's friends being gone (Like,the big idea of Buddhism basically,right? Though I think this might be too heavy to put into something like LMK tbh,and I'm sure some would agree).But yea,basically it's weird that Diyu comes up a lot.Macaque even brought up how Wukong's companions all came back (from how Wukong talks about his 'companions' and the brotherhood separately,I think he's referring to MK's friends which I'm glad that it's finally being pointed out). I got reminded of this when I remember that someone theorised Wukong met NHP in the previous cycle,explaining Wukong not remembering him (since you were planning on making a theory on LMK's 'memory loss').Plus,it's weird that they brought Diyu up again with the scene where he came back to Diyu's court room.
I do think they will have a focus on the underworld, espically with the 10 kings now dead (Nine killed them after all), and since Macaque "died" he could a good figure to put in there. Along with that, I have seen some theories that Ao lie might still be alive, but in the scroll, and since no one are watching the scrolls now, he can get out. Which woulf also create an interesting dynamic between Ao lie and Macaque (aka someone who knew wukong after he got better vs someone who only knew him when he had a lot of issues)

I’m a bit late to this party, but as someone who recently watched through the series for the first time (so I could very well be misunderstanding some stuff), I thought the reason macaque had chaos powers at the end of s5 was because the way he “cut off” nine from his chaos was by absorbing it. I could be very wrong and misremembering but doesn’t he gain Sun Wukong’s powers by absorbing MK’s powers way back when we’re first introduced to him? I know that was a lot more of a process but to be fair the monkey king has a LOT of powers, and we see the absorption take a HUGE physical toll on Mac in s5 compared to him being ready to immediately fight Wukong in s1. I think we see Mac wielding the powers of others the most out of everyone in the show as well (though I wasn’t exactly counting), since he literally remarks on how his plan in s1 (or 2 I don’t remember) was to kill Wukong with his own power, and LBD gave him some of her power too later on. I think that it could potentially be a situation where the chaos he absorbed is festering and overtaking his own shadow magic, explaining why he seemed to be struggling with his own magic at the end of s5. Though there’s a lot to be said about the potential connection between Mac and chaos magic, especially since he was the one who got the jump on nine twice despite not being as powerful as Wukong, and because my theory relies on the idea that Mac was able to absorb that chaos magic in the first place. It could very well be that there’s some entity in the chaos that the “cage” was opened for that is tied back to Mac and his powers. Just an alternative theory/idea. Great video!

Thing is, Wucong is forgetting something, and Macaque had no idea what nine is talking about when he mentioned a deal, so what if they both are forgetting what happened. Also, in the flashbacks when macaque was sane and I don’t think he had the powers, he still didn’t have the ears or white hair, my theory about those is he’s insecure and hides them, at least the ears because he never mentioned having white hair, only being the six-ear macaque.

My theory: If he made the deal before in another universe, he may not remember as he's been brought back. However the powers being powers of chaos can overcome that, meaning they came back to him when he was reborn from his stone.
I don't want the show to end just so we can know what happened between Wukong & Macaque. Or what M.K. stands for either. The writers should figure out how to move forward without holding such things back. They always do that. "Oh, the couple gets together at the end of the story because we don't know how to write relationships in the present tense, only past." What the heck?! If their lovers than let them love. If their brothers than let them be bros. Just get that part Effing over with instead of string it along. This is part of what made me stop watching Miraculous. Like, it doesn’t make sense that he's hiding six ears (as his glamor came off in S1 + he introduces himself as the Six Eared Macaque), but I never considered that he had them but lost them 🤯 And I like your idea that the Nine Headed Demon was once human, as it solves the issue of Nüwa creating him (as in mythology she only made humans and sometimes animals). And I agree that there's almost definitely something going on with the Four Evils - it would be a missed opportunity if the writers _didn't_ use Hundun. I do hope they keep a JTTW focus though - there are so many JTTW characters they have yet to use 👀
I thought Macaque made a deal with LBD to come back to life and that's why he was indebted to her doesn't that also represent when the Samadi fire cause the chains to go away bringing the saying 'It worked' and in season 4 the skull key was supposed to be brought by Macaque why? he made a deal with her, and he was supposed to bring back the key to get her back to life. Macaque seemed pretty confused about what Nine Head was talking about when he asked him about his powers. I think Macaque just assumed that his shadow powers were just his own ability and never thought once about how he got them. Perhaps someone granted him this ability and he never knew.

Macaque in the myth had the ability to hear everything past and future and be able to mimic anything, hence his ability to perfectly mimic wukong.though it seems that in monkey kid he doesn't have that ability anymore, not once do we see him knowing info by using his "six ears"
This version of macaque likely trades away his omnipresence, a very op ability.
Also macaque carried the will of the six desires who were killed by wukong at the start of the journey.He's the equivalent to wukong falling back into old habits.
If macaque made a deal with someone there's a high chance it was either the six desires, or someone who wanted his omnipresence.
My theory about the deal, as soon as I noticed Macaque was confused when Xiangliu mentioned it, was that a Macaque of a previous cycle made a deal with a god/entity so powerful that it carried over into the current cycle.
The Six-Eared Macaque's only abilities mentioned in JTTW were all just imitations of Wukong's powers and his many ears' ability to hear past/present/future. Meanwhile in Lego Monkie Kid, he has shadow/chaos powers and four of his ears are conspicuously absent. I think that some how, for some reason, the Macaque of a previous cycle "traded" his ability to hear the past/future in favor of the shadow abilities he had in s1-5 specifically so he could steal the chaos power from Xiangliu. If he did previously possess the ability to hear the future, the past Macaque may have been plotting against Xiangliu for a long time.

I don't think Macaque made a deal, my theory is that he was born with the chaos powers. There is no backup on the 'Macaque used to have white fur' theory other than that people loved a Macaque from a different Journey to the West adaptation where he had white fur. It's confirmed on Macaque's character sheet that his six ears are hidden behind magic. I think that the theory that appearances change after making a deal is totally right but I don't think it applies to Macaque, hence why I think he was born with the abilities. Macaque is the only monkey not born from a stone, which could potentially mean that he wasn't created by Nuwa but by someone else. He's certainly unstable where his powers are concerned which could indicate that he's a 'defective' immitation of Wukong in the sense that his body can't whistand the magnitude of his powers whereas Wukong can, which is why Wukong seemingly has limitles potential but Macaque has a level cap. I call him a 'defective immitation' of Wukong, not because I think he's a clone but that whatever created him certainly used Wukong as some kind of blueprint but used a dark academia moodboard. Macaque and Wukong are two completely different kinds of monkey, they confirmed that Wukong and MK are stone moneys but Macaque is a mystic monkey but the show hasnt explained at all what that means. If season 6 doesn't give us a Macaque origin story im gonna be sad. lol

It makes sense to Nine, Nine got his powers because he made a deal but that doesn’t necessarily mean macaque did too. Not to mention macaque didn’t seem to know what he was talking about. Unless he made a deal and somehow forgot which seems like lazy writing, it would make more sense that he was born with them because that would also explain how he doesn’t know where these powers originate from. These are his powers and he seems to be able to gauge his limitations pretty well despite his instability. It’s more likely that he had a cap before the journey to the west but either experienced something traumatic during the journey like the erlang burning down the mountain which caused him to lose control and losing that level cap which he can’t handle OOOR, his cap was removed my someone. It’s confirmed by the show that Macaque has lived in the mountain just as long as Wukong has (if I remember this part correctly, I think it was season 5 episode 1 or 2 where macaque and wukong are screaming at each other about MK) that would mean that he was likely also born in the mountain.
@Bri-gt1jt I would also add that in the flashback we got, it seemed that Mac had his powers for as long as Wukong knew him. Also where u say Mac lost control of his powers, I would relate that to the fight between Mac and Wukong where he was heard laughing manically and that mightve been due to his powers consuming him and causing him to embody them, to become chaotic.
@@saysikeern202 Yes I completely agree, and that was also exactly what I meant with macaque losing control. The flashback is the only instance where we can confirm that he was unstable. But he had his shadow powers before his fight with Wukong. His ears have always been hidden behind magic, even in the flashbacks which is why if Macaque HAS made a deal, which again I don’t think he has, it would’ve been between the time where Wukong had been imprisoned and the fight that ended up killing him. He still looks the same in all the flashbacks unless he’s been hiding his appearance behind magic which makes no sense because he clearly doesn’t seem to know what Nine is talking about. Even macaque is confused that he has chaos powers. HOWEVER he does seem to know exactly what his limitations are as seen when Nine has them all trapped and he frees them all. He collapses from fatigue and he knew that would happen. That’s why I say he has a level cap. It’s still all a theory but the possibility that perhaps a traumatic event or maybe a higher power, maybe the person that created Macaque, removed that cap and caused his instability. I’m relating it to adrenaline tbh.

macaque's missing six ears could probably be him hiding them with glamor and his hearing seems to be really sensitive(im pretty sure they would be cus bro has six ears that can hear past, present and future.). Like When Pigsy was singing Macaque's ears start ringing while Tang's doesn't. Mac having white fur doesn't really make too much sense to me since in flashbacks he has black fur. Plus he was created from Wukong's mind and was basically the evil wukong (how Wukong managed to basically befriend his sort of evil counterpart is beyond my understanding but it hella impressive). Maybe he might have white fur or atleast a lighter colour of fur and only uses glamor to hide his fur so people can tell him and wukong appart. Either way this theory is really interesting and I atleast hope something like this or something similar happens in the show because it would be interesting

Consider "The Winning Side" where he splits the van to two,just like the interpretation of the story in the book.Why do I think it's important? Cause this far,the series seems to be pretty caught up in the allegories.Look at Mr.Tang's speech in "Benched" that references Tripitaka as the allegory of heart,or Ao Lie's speech in "Court of The Yellow Robed Demon" where he said "A sword is powerless without the hand that wields it",which can be taken as a reference to how he represents human will (seen on how he sent Pigsy to get Wukong in that chapter,'The Horse of Human Will sends Eight Rules',or sum like that).
They even referenced the journey's meaning in S5's end monologue by Mr.Tang basically saying that it's not destination that matters,but the journey that they do.
Also,this one seems really far fetched,but in a way,MK getting the most mental burden (from basically doing everything,just like Wukong back then) can be connected to how Wukong & Macaque are the allegory of mind (I mean,they're referred to as 'two minds').

When Wukong mentioned that he only trusts the people present, and Macaque reacted with surprise, I couldn't help but think of his reaction differently than what most people might think. Macaque’s response felt a bit off to me, despite it making sense in his situation.
Given the strong hints-or maybe even a reveal-that Macaque might have struck a deal to gain his powers (since the original Macaque didn’t have these abilities), his reaction might indicate that he’s also unsure of himself. He could be worried that the demon he made a deal with will come after him, forcing him to betray everyone to pay off his debt. This could introduce a new villain they all have to face, with Macaque grappling with the consequences of his deal. It might even set the stage for a villain in season 7 if the series continues.
oooh! That could be really cool! It seems like in the next season, we are going to have a bigger focus on Macaque, so going deeper into his insecurites and so on, could be cool!
Nine headed demon, asks Macaque with whom he made a deal with to get his powers, which makes me think that Macaque powers are related to Chaos, which is not surprising, like Shadows being connected to abyss and dark magic and all of that
and Macaque asks what deal? Which can mean two possibilities
One: Macaque is lying and he really got some bad habits of making deals
Two: Macaque has no idea what he is talking about, which leads to two other possibilities
One that Macaque made a deal but doesn’t remember, which means his memories had been manipulated, or two Macaque is born with this power like we all assuming but there is a part of it a depth that even he doesn’t know yet,

@@Cherllyio Hey never watched any of your theories before so going in completely blind on this but I think one thing The Nine Headed Demon said might tell how Macaque got his powers.
He suggests that he's known monkey King many times, but seeing how Monkey King had not seen him before (or he'd probably remember) most likely it was in the universe prior to this. So if that's the case I'd say the previous Macaque might have made the deal and thus because chaos is a power that transcends the universe he probably may have had it in the following existence.

Hello, it’s me again now I been thinking about this one for a while, but may be the reason why my Mac was able to cut him off so easily is because his order Power he got from the lady bone demon was able to cut off the chaos powers but intervening the connection he was then connected to the chaos power. Just a theory, but it could work.
Oh yeah, I forgot one last thing Mac did make a deal with LBD, she would resurrect him in exchange for her freedom. Maybe LBD gave him her powers to make freeing her possible but when he refused he still has possession of this power and Mac may not known that the power was in the deal.
I've Researched on this topic, and apparently a Red Snake Demon that can KINDA, SORTA make or use Shadow-like Powers. It's even Mentioned in Journey to the West, few times in the Book. Honestly, I feel like for Season 6, Macaque will end up just getting out of control due to that Red Snake Demon taking control of his mind, really. Then, the others will have to find a way to stop this new Enemy while also trying to save Macaque.

@@Cherllyio I suppose, but Macaque does not seem to understand what’s really going on with his powers, the only indication was him seemingly knowing his powers can effect those chaos bindings. But his reason for being alive again was entirely cause of LBD. It feels like she’s just the right fit, maybe chaos was just the only thing she could use to bring him back, and her believing she can reign in chaos due to her foreseen destiny may be why.
I now understand what nine meant when he said you and what’s remaining it means that other people will make deals with the gods so he’s saying that it (others making deals) will happen so u (mk) and the others will have to fight against them

I really like this theory but there is something that confused me. Macaque in the S4 flashbacks didn't have his six ears and his white hair so is it possible Macaque made the deal before that moment and before their fight. Maybe Macaque over time lost control of his powers which resulted in the fight between him and Wukong. If you answered this in the video I'm sorry it might have flown over my head.
Oh! I forgot to mention that-! I do think he made the deal before the fight (and probaly also before they met the brotherhood) and then when things started to get bad, between him and Wukong, he also started to loose control of his powers (because maybe his powers are connected in some way to his mental health if that makes sense?)
In the book it was said that he wasn’t the only six eared macaque and he was the last of his kind so maybe got it from the others either before or after they died so he didn’t make a deal hence why he was confused about a deal

Also,one of the descriptions of a Rakshasa is 'jailer/torturer of hell' that has goat or bull heads (DBK is said to be inspired by Ox-Head,one of Yama's agent).(Does this means Red Son's species is a Rakshasa? Makes sense I guess) So in a way they're already here.

I have been reading all of your comments. Allow me to put some input. During the final battle with the 9-headed guy, we see the orange stuff, the “chaos energy” right? We see 9-head guy asking about Macaque’s powers, mentioning a deal and Macaque having no idea about it. His powers seem to do some damage to the guy, separating him from the chaos briefly. Then, the conversation between him and MK happened and he mentioned someone was winning. What if that someone was the person Macaque supposedly “made a deal with”? And he doesn’t remember because his memories were altered or he was too young at the time? Because during the ending speech, he looks worried at his hand which goes from purple to orange. Not to mention Wukong’s staff at the end with orange sparks and Macaque is the only one who looked at it with concern. All I’m saying is that maybe Macaque will have a bigger role in season 6 and maybe our ship between Wukong and Macaque will get better or worse. Maybe we get to see what happened between them…
I dont know if you watched monkey king 2009 but macaque making a deal was a thing there and thats also how he gained most of his powers maybe you can find more parallels but theres so many similar stuff even to macaque having a different appearance and the deal changing how he looks over time a channel called monkie central is uploading them in sub monthly right now if ur interested

Macaque probably made two deals. One with LBD to return to the mortal world and another to get chaos or shadow powers.

Ok this is my theory so the reason why Macaque's power changed red at the end is i think because his power reverted back to his original power which was "Chaos Energy" now this might be a stretch but hear me out we know in the old sets Macaque's clone color components were Red rather than purple shadowy colors i willing to bet when he was created he was a weapon of chaos hence why he kept saying the term Weapon during the time he was mentoring MK within that one episode and we know from the original Macaque never had "Shadow Powers" meaning he got these powers from a deal but who? I am willing to bet that the Red Phyton Demon Deal Theory might be true based of the info i mean the power is "RED" he got his powers from a deal based of what the 9 headed demon said also during the begging of S5 Wukong,MK and Macaque were brought to the place of the kings and that they were "Chaos" which backs up the fact that Macaque could have had powers related to "Chaos" and now you might say how about him being confused about his powers from a deal? If he got his powers from a deal he should know about it well what if he lost memories about it when he got resurrected we know for a fact Macaque is basically "DEAD" but got revived by LBD meaning maybe he hasn't fully got all his past memories and forgot about the deal or maybe he was affected by the scroll before and lost his memories about it or his memories were scrambled during resurrection or after making the deal to make him think he was born with those powers rather than a deal all in all i am excited for S6 ngl the animation on S6 still looks dope and gives similar vibes to the OG it might be more stiff and less flowy but it's still good can't wait for S6 and i hope they let WildBrain cook more rather than rush them like let em cook.

ok just a heads up i wanted to ask this theory out by a person who actually searches about the character alright? so when xiangliu (i think i spelt it corretly?) said "im your old friend! you just don't remember..." i thought the in the previous cycle sun wukong was mk and when sun wukong jumped into the pillar it didnt work since he wasnt in his full power or something... so it didnt work so when the new cycle started xiangliu made sure he was in his full power mastering them with ease thats why he said "finally..." FINALLY???!!! (this is just a theory since i got skeptical since sun wukong doesnt know him... neither does azure, macaque, lady bone demon and other characters... xiangliu IS THE BIG BAD!)
It does seem like they know eachother from like a previous cycle, that Xiangliu remembers, but Wukong doesent. And it could be a possibility that Sun Wukong took the role of MK in some timelines! and the "full power"-thing? Yea! that is a possiblity too! Cool thoery! I will remember that!

I think that the whole thing about not remembering may be because Xiangliu could be from a past cycle, or remember the past cycle, which this could also explain why in the episode where we met Mei's Great Uncle, Wukong referenced a specific version of events. also, the Six Eared Macque and the Macaque King from the Brotherhood were not the same guy in the original story but are in the show, but if all these differences are because of different cycles, then that explains why different versions of the same stories are often used here.
The only deal that I could think of that Macaque made was the one with the lady bone demon to bring him back to life. But past that the only thing that I could think of is that someone granted Macaque his powers.

This is unrelated,but have you considered making a theory about how there's been a big underworld theme going on? R.V Sketch's theory on LBD has me realising that we've got 2 major manipulator villains that are Diyu-related (if you think about it,Nine Heads can benefit from LBD's plan to erase the entire world) and 4 villains that are thrown out of there (all of which are Wukong's former friends,that's crazy).
But also the theme of cycles and death,since Nine-Heads here is taking the place of Zhuanlun Wang,the King that is in charge of reincarnations.If you know where I'm going specifically with this one,it might explain Wukong's friends being gone (Like,the big idea of Buddhism basically,right? Though I think this might be too heavy to put into something like LMK tbh,and I'm sure some would agree).But yea,basically it's weird that Diyu comes up a lot.Macaque even brought up how Wukong's companions all came back (from how Wukong talks about his 'companions' and the brotherhood separately,I think he's referring to MK's friends which I'm glad that it's finally being pointed out).
I got reminded of this when I remember that someone theorised Wukong met NHP in the previous cycle,explaining Wukong not remembering him (since you were planning on making a theory on LMK's 'memory loss').Plus,it's weird that they brought Diyu up again with the scene where he came back to Diyu's court room.
I do think they will have a focus on the underworld, espically with the 10 kings now dead (Nine killed them after all), and since Macaque "died" he could a good figure to put in there. Along with that, I have seen some theories that Ao lie might still be alive, but in the scroll, and since no one are watching the scrolls now, he can get out. Which woulf also create an interesting dynamic between Ao lie and Macaque (aka someone who knew wukong after he got better vs someone who only knew him when he had a lot of issues)
Mabey just mabey the Diya ( the Hell where Macaque was send afther his death) chould be the chain too seeing there color where also blue so they chould also make it

I’m a bit late to this party, but as someone who recently watched through the series for the first time (so I could very well be misunderstanding some stuff), I thought the reason macaque had chaos powers at the end of s5 was because the way he “cut off” nine from his chaos was by absorbing it. I could be very wrong and misremembering but doesn’t he gain Sun Wukong’s powers by absorbing MK’s powers way back when we’re first introduced to him? I know that was a lot more of a process but to be fair the monkey king has a LOT of powers, and we see the absorption take a HUGE physical toll on Mac in s5 compared to him being ready to immediately fight Wukong in s1. I think we see Mac wielding the powers of others the most out of everyone in the show as well (though I wasn’t exactly counting), since he literally remarks on how his plan in s1 (or 2 I don’t remember) was to kill Wukong with his own power, and LBD gave him some of her power too later on. I think that it could potentially be a situation where the chaos he absorbed is festering and overtaking his own shadow magic, explaining why he seemed to be struggling with his own magic at the end of s5. Though there’s a lot to be said about the potential connection between Mac and chaos magic, especially since he was the one who got the jump on nine twice despite not being as powerful as Wukong, and because my theory relies on the idea that Mac was able to absorb that chaos magic in the first place. It could very well be that there’s some entity in the chaos that the “cage” was opened for that is tied back to Mac and his powers. Just an alternative theory/idea. Great video!

Thing is, Wucong is forgetting something, and Macaque had no idea what nine is talking about when he mentioned a deal, so what if they both are forgetting what happened. Also, in the flashbacks when macaque was sane and I don’t think he had the powers, he still didn’t have the ears or white hair, my theory about those is he’s insecure and hides them, at least the ears because he never mentioned having white hair, only being the six-ear macaque.

Maybe instead of making a deal, he was created by Hundun? This would however make the white fur and 6 ears a question.

My theory: If he made the deal before in another universe, he may not remember as he's been brought back. However the powers being powers of chaos can overcome that, meaning they came back to him when he was reborn from his stone.

While I'm not sold on Macaque ever having six ears in the first place (I quite like how his name in the book mostly just means he's an eavesdropper lol), I really like the idea that he did have six ears and lost two of them in a deal!
Like, it doesn’t make sense that he's hiding six ears (as his glamor came off in S1 + he introduces himself as the Six Eared Macaque), but I never considered that he had them but lost them 🤯
And I like your idea that the Nine Headed Demon was once human, as it solves the issue of Nüwa creating him (as in mythology she only made humans and sometimes animals).
And I agree that there's almost definitely something going on with the Four Evils - it would be a missed opportunity if the writers _didn't_ use Hundun. I do hope they keep a JTTW focus though - there are so many JTTW characters they have yet to use 👀
I thought Macaque made a deal with LBD to come back to life and that's why he was indebted to her doesn't that also represent when the Samadi fire cause the chains to go away bringing the saying 'It worked' and in season 4 the skull key was supposed to be brought by Macaque why? he made a deal with her, and he was supposed to bring back the key to get her back to life. I got this theory from S4 hope this is helpful
