I know that part of Parksville so well, lived there close to a year, loved the place, gorgeous views of snow capped mountains, and burning sunsets, in the summer.
Hey, Glen 👋 Great tour of Parksville Beach and Rathtrevor Park. David’s done that route with you, and next time I’ll be along too. Looking forward to a super riding season this summer!! (Now, if it would only warm up a few degrees more … LOL 😂)
After 2 years of restricted movement, I am hoping we can get some good Group Rides going again like we had a couple of years back. If you & David are able to get the 3 days off to come on the 3 day tour, I think it will be one to remember.
Why isn't he back in China though? China is doing an amazing job with covid according to jayhole nation and the West just generally sucks. Why isn't Jayhole nation back in paradise aka China giving up his western citizenship?
I honestly see great potential for the further development of Glen's tours. He is a great guy with good instincts about how to structure different tours for different needs. Vancouver Island is so unique. Many viable trail systems exist on different parts of the island. I can see tours where trikes are put on a good boat and transported to different parts of the island along with overnight camping.
Great video and we can honestly say we live in paradise. The beach where you two stopped is 5 minutes from our place in San Pareil. It is always cool to see a place through someone else’s eyes, especially Rathtrevor Prov. Park. Hopefully we will join you next time on our two Azub trikes, maybe it will be 3 Azubs then :-)
Thanks for the great day out Nat. (😛) I've had several enquiries already about the 3 day, 3 ferry, 3 island tour & it only just got posted. If you can make it, we'll try to make it a highlight of your Vancouver Island trip.
You are in your element when cycling, it's good to see you back in the saddle. Next time you should check out the Gulf Islands which are a cluster of 225 islands which are located in the straight of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland. I also read that the Victoria Clipper connector ferry is back in service between Seattle which makes it easy to get to Van Isle, rather than going all the way around through the land border at Washington State/British Columbia.
There are many strands to the artistry of your vlogg some are not even noticed or acknowleged but bro huge big ups for the 3 second rabbit shot!!! 😊 very well done 👍🏽I GET IT ✌🏿
I live near Port Angeles, WA and am just a ferry away from Victoria. I would be interested in hopping on the ferry with my Catrike recumbent trike for a group ride..that would be fun.
Hi Cheri, do you know David Massey out of the Port Angeles area? Rides an Azub Tri-Con. Might be someone you can ride with. You are always welcome to join us on our Victoria rides but that Black Ball Ferry over might require a weekend away. Someone might be willing to meet you on our side as it is right down in the heart of Victoria.
Wow, you were on Vancouver Island here in BC and I missed it. I just watched the video and saw that you were wanting to know if any others would be interested in joining you on another ride at some point in the future. Definitely count me in. I am on the BC mainland in Langley, part of the Metro Vancouver area and Parksville is just a ferry ride or two away. I have cycled on Vancouver Island in and around Victoria and along the Galloping Goose Trail but not in the Parksville area. It sure looks like there are some excellent locations for trike riding and I would happy to participate in a future with Matt, Glen and others on my ICE Sprint. I am retired now so scheduling would not be an issue. Please contact when and if plans are being made.
If you get to central US. Visit Lincoln NE, we have 130+ miles of paved trails in town and several hundred miles of crushed rock trails in the county. Bike trial from Lincoln NE to Marysville KS all trail (75 miles). And to Omaha with 9 miles of gravel road the rest trails. Look up Great Plains Trail Network with an interactive bike map. I would be happy to ride with you.
If you are heading North of Vancouver Island, you should go to Quadra Island, only about 100 km and a 10 min. ferry ride. Sam Whittingham, a cyclist who hold several cycling records lives here. Check him out.
You like to drive and ride so check out "Ride the Rim" at Crater Lake in Oregon. On Saturday September 10th and again the following Saturday September 17th a substantial portion of the road around Crater Lake is closed to car traffic for the whole day.
Tom if you have a trike, we always try & get a couple of Group Rides in the Victoria area each Season. We have a few members in Sidney, Duncan, Cowichan, Sooke & Colwood/Langford that would welcome another rider to join their rides.
You flew the drone and caught a bald eagle and bunch of sealions? What size hooks and strength line can you use with that drone? It must be a pretty big one......
With a trike, you avoid SCROTUM HELL no matter what weight you are. But maintaining safe balance is ALSO an important consideration for those with balance issues.
Hi Matt.. i see that your T-Tris has hub brakes.. I upgraded to the Tektro T-525 hydraulic disc, this has one lever for both front wheels, and i chose the Rohloff with hydraulic disc on the back.. These choices were made because i'm going to need braking power on all three wheels to get me stopped with all my touring gear. Drums can take a long time to "brake in".. and you have to squeeze really hard to get stopped.. I'm just waiting to hear your thoughts on the AZUB.. I think i made the right choice. :)
@@garyseckel295 Gary, i fully agree.. I love my Rohloff. it took a while to convince myself to invest $2k on the rear wheel alone, but once i did, i wish i had ordered my trike with it from the beginning, it would have saved me in the long run.. And because my Surly Ted trailer required a proprietary skewer, my DD3-27 was not compatible. Rohloff made everything come together.. They recommend changing the oil at least once a year, or every 10k miles.. I do that every year in September. This keeps everything running/shifting smoothly. Take care Gary,
Greetings from Tacoma. Those Azub bikes look pretty fun. Vancouver Island is gorgeous. Just watched your NY times interviews. You mentioned receiving media government funds to take certain trips?! Haha. Really?! How much are we talking?
Hey man, there's some weird stuff floating around about you on the net. But I tell the critics, "nah, Jayoe wouldn't take goverment-backed funds to a controversial site to tell a cover-up story. He's a trike person." There's just a sense that travelers in certain countries, stay out of the politics. Azub and other quality companies endorse freedom, free spirits, nomads. They don't mess with unethical travelers.
Hey Matt. I live in Victoria and would have loved to meet you and invite you to dinner at home. I have a suggestion for you: try inviting yourself to random people’s homes for coffee or tea. Chat them up about China and current world affairs. It will be interesting and you will have a chance to share your experiences with them.
Mae Hong Son loop was wonderful on bike. I really liked riding in the deep Muslim south too --Hat Yai, Yala, Pattani-- very different culture wise... of course, doi Inthanon. That all said -Cambodia--somehow, was more memorable for me😊
@@dungthi2520 I'm not sure about the fonts, I just wanted to highlight them. Anyway, SE Asia has modernized very much (last decade) , esp Cambodia and Vietnam. Go before it modernized too much and hope it doesn't lose too much charm. I hope to go this coming fall or winter...
@@rualablhor That sounds pleasant. I wrote a message earlier. But maybe it didn't go through--his forum seems like messages disappear. Strange. Anyhow, I wish you well on those journeys! I hear good things about Vietnam--a bit more relaxed and free than China. Would love to go someday.
How much did you have to pay for the animal cameos lol 😂 Very well put together video. Parksville is a big retirement community because of the moderate weather. You did didn’t get hit on by any Senior ladies??
I think sea lions it's just the type of seal it is, where seal is the name of thier species... Like dogs yet there's different breeds of dogs like German Shepherd... Then again I could be wrong 😏

Sounds cool! Victoria is amazingly beautiful!
Nini mini mo! I get everything wrong! Fun ride Jayoe!
Did you and your family all return to the states?
That trail you were on is stunning. The mix of ocean view and mossy forest is incredible.
I know that part of Parksville so well, lived there close to a year, loved the place, gorgeous views of snow capped mountains, and burning sunsets, in the summer.
Great job! Awesome tour! So beautiful nature around! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
Great to see you back on the Trike.
Glad to see the trike tour continue, you should add these rides to your ride map
That was an awesome ride/intro to “Greg” and his neck of the woods … im adding it to my “ To Do “ list.
You're welcome to join us Chris.

I agree. The drive up to the lake is awesome also through the tall trees. Not quite as scenic coming down from Bend though but still nice enough.

How can we order a Nature Hike tent Matt??? We need some.
