Bonus tip: If you’re going to be painting on the back of a page to prevent bleeding, use that as an opportunity to use up the last little amounts of paint left on a palette after a painting. You have a page already prepped for next time plus you end up with some cool abstract paintings on the back of your pages! And you’re reducing paint waste! My sketchbooks look super cool since I started doing this and it’s kind of fun to paint something on the page next to the abstract page that takes inspiration from the abstract colors.

Lovely idea about the colourless blender. This gives me another idea: a brush dipped in alcohol should work fine as well, shouldn't it? For those of us who don't have the blender marker.
From my experience, eyeshadow applicators and alcohol work as well
Also stump works. And baby oil as the blender.
@@janemiettinen5176 I've tried the baby oil blender hack and I found it really chews up the paper, and you have to be careful when your drawing because sometimes you can rip the paper with your hand
The best "Tool" for this job is a Q-tip. You can use it with alcohol or with baby oil. You can just lightly wet it or soak it so you have more control over the wetness, it's small and hard enough to be precise and you have double ends readily available in case you need to change up "the settings"
Plus, it's cheaper than a marker and you don't have to worry about tainting the tip with pigment.
(Just make sure to get the ones with paper in the middle and not plastic so you don't harm the enviroment)
I like to use my alcohol markers and colored pencils together in a similar manner not only does it look all pretty and smooth but you can sort of mix and match to get a color you don't have it's how I color my anime coloring pages.
the 'bleeding marker' hack : or you could just put a piece of scrap paper under the page you're working on... instead of waiting for whatever substance you picked to cover it with to dry.
Sometimes the ink will cause the papers to stick together and you have to rip them apart. Truly tragic, this prevents that from happening

@@Fuzzysea693 yea that wasnt really a hack?? i use hairspray to fix graphite instead of the fancy artist sprays and it works just fine, im not coloring in stuff i dont want to color lol

Hi! I used a 40% off coupon when I purchased. A set of 24 was $9.99 at my local craft store, so I got the set for about $6! I knows its not exactly "free" but its far less expensive than the $20 books and you can customize it any way you like :)

I was once actually told to draw a giraffe at my art class, I was very young that if I draw something it will turn out really bad. so I tried doing the window hack! without the teacher noticing I grabbed a piece of paper and drew the giraffe in the window and it turn out great. but if I tried adding shades in the drawing It will make it look like a 3 year old drawing it .-. also thanks for the hacks I really appreciate it =) keep doing the great work!

Honestly I use cheap (sometimes accidentally stolen) pens to make a lot of my art, and skin can work as paper, but lined paper is often preferable..and coffee grounds work as watercolor. And you really can get details, I’ve learned bout angles so that the pen puts down less ink, oh and newspaper is a thing, you could make a weird cool art around the edges of news paper and cut it (or rip it) out have bookmarks or have a cool bar drawing, maybe you guys already knew this, but I hope it’s helpful
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does the makeup brushes thing! I keep a cheap makeup brush in my drawing supplies for this exact reason.
i just wanted to say that the colorless blender hack doesn’t work on all colored pencils BUT from my experiences it seemed to work with wax based pencils but not oil based (but for the oil based ones i’m sure you can use solvents and/or oils like baby oil)
As a fellow lefty, I can never make art without smudging. Can you test out “left-handed hacks”?

You can also use hairspray as a fixative instead of a watercolour wash , if you don’t want a colour wash :)

Art Hack: fix your pencil drawings with hairspray, if one layer isn't enough, do another one. Hairspray is less expensive than fixing spray and it actually works better
Marc absolutely works every time. The liquid allows the pigments soak into the paper, instead of just sitting on top. Then the fixative, which gives hairspray it’s holding power; seals the art into the paper never to smudge again. Especially recommended for chalk and charcoal, even oil pastels.

I use hairspray to fix my pencil drawings! It also works well on charcoal. It's super cheap and smells better than official fixatives from art shops!

That watercolor hack only works if you want to or are ok with putting color on your sketch. But if you want it to stay a pencil drawing, then it doesn't work. I just spray mine with fixative. You also have to worry about smudging from the watercolor and the paper warping. However, I love the winter glove hack for digital art. I didn't even know the drawing glove was a thing til I saw jazza use it but I didn't feel like spending money on one. So I whipped out the winter glove I had and cut the fingers off on the thumb, middle, and index part (for comfortable grip and in case I needed/wanted to use my fingers for something. Works like a charm and I didn't spend anything extra

To set pastel graphite charcoal ect... you can use light mist of hairspray. Works like a charm.
I love using make-up brush in my artworks. Specially to blend grafite.

I don’t know who I learned this from but, if you don’t want your drawings to smear on each page, use parchment paper to cover it. You don’t have to use the expensive ones. I just use the ones from dollar tree :)
