It's like drafting in the 80s or earlier. -Not a lot of info that year. -you've got to go off old info, maybe high school footage for freshmen. -no workouts -no ncaa tournament -prospects didn't have the summer to prepare for their new team, because the draft was so late, and a month before the season started. Maybe that's why 2024 draft is considered "weak" because 2020 is a huge missed development step for them. being in that 14-17 range.
Nesmith was picked by the Celtics then traded to Indiana a couple of years later for Brogdon. I know you know this, it just sounded like you were saying the Pacers drafted him
He has, but the volume is still to low to be called a true 3&D wing. Same as Green on the Mavs, who shoots 40% from 3 over the last 2 years. But the volume (around 4 3PA per 36 for both) is still too low. But its nice to see Okoro still starting on a regular basis, even with Struss on the team. Maybe he can increase his output to 6 or 7 3PA per 36, then he is a really good pick.
@@Smido83post ASG he’s ahooting 38% on 4 per game. At one point he had a stretch where it was 6-7 per game on 40%+ for like a 5 game stretch. Hes massively improving
Yea, this is absolutely a weird draft with a weird draft situation, but we also need to recognize that most of the hidden gems are guards, which matters. When it comes to guards, aside from those with outlier attributes, it's just not that unusual to see truly great or even all-time guards go later in the draft like it is for big men.
I honestly thought Avdija was gonna go 4th overall, he had all the tools to become an all-star imo. Nowadays he's that kind of player that gives you everything except for elite scoring. Put him in a top seed and I can imagine him playing a key role in a Championship run, kinda like a modern day Iguodala.
Payton Pritchard at 26 was a low-key great pick for Boston. Energy, shooting, hustle. Now he’s their backup point guard playing for a championship caliber team!
I’ve honestly not loved him as much as it seems everyone else. He’s been obviously a good facilitator but he lacks scoring to the level that I think is necessary to be great in this league. At the beginning of the season I thought he had it but it fell off quickly

I wasn’t against Ant going #1, but I did gravitate to Wiseman in this draft just because I thought with the size and athleticism, there was no way he wouldn’t end up as at least a starting caliber center who could run the floor, set screens, and roll to the basket while providing decent-to-good rim protection on the other end. And yet here we are at his first free agency and Ant’s a super-duper star and are we even sure Wiseman’s gonna get a 2nd contract?
Let's be real. 12 & 21 are absolute steals for any team regardless of positional need. The first 2 years of both of their careers was so frustrating because of a lack of opportunities.
Devin vessel gets 30 million a year and he says he’s just a complimentary piece lol biggest contract in spurs history P.S.? I think your nature for your age ;) young boy
The Bulls not taking Deni Avdija still baffles me. They needed a defensive wing who could pass and he was standing right there while being highly touted the entire year. PWill was a good high-upside pick, and as an FSU fan, I liked it, but was shocked he went higher than Vassell. He can still be really good, but they did him no favors by immediately trading for Vucevic, signing DeRozan, Caruso, playing Javonte Green at PF, and then playing him out of position when he’s a natural SF.
They said it didn’t, but I wonder if Klay tearing his Achilles hours before the draft changed the front office’s mindset. There had been talks/rumors about them trading down and possibly trying to get Haliburton or Toppin. Both of which were viewed to be ready to go players (if I recall) and would make sense for a team thinking they’re about to start contending again. But once your star SG gets what everyone used to think was a career ending injury right after an ACL recovery, shooting for the (perceived) high upside project makes more sense
People always forget that Haliburton intentionally tanked his own stock. He said no to team invites from multiple teams drafting in the top ten. He wouldn’t even workout for Washington. His drop to 12 was by design.

I seriously don’t know if Tucker watches the NBA anymore. Most of these guys he had takes about them that are completely outdated.
