I sell a lot of our work trucks at Ritchie’s. They all have either transmission issues or engine problems that aren’t worth fixing. Can’t believe what people pay for them
And XX% seller fee in addition to the buyer's fee plus title doc fees. Riche Bros is printing money at these auctions. Seller's contracts indicate we are not allowed to disclose to the public how much Richi is charging seller. I can say as a seller that commissions are high for the seller also and some sellers get a negotiated commission price. Plus dont forget that when the buyer arrives at the DMV with a signed-off title, that 7% sales tax you pay Richi at the sale the DMV will want to collect from you the second time again now that Richi only gives the buyer a signed-off title. I know that you can fight paying the sales taxes twice but it is really hard and Richi does not cooperate or care about the buyer.
We have bought from Ricthie for years and again in the past 30 days. They are one of the worst online auction companies to buy from. I wish there was an official platform I could use to complain. There is no human element to the transaction. I would not sell a thing there will be very slow in buying in the future.
RB has good stuff but you have to be very very careful, an go look at it in person before auction closes, and some RB yards are great, some suck like the one you went to. It’s a cut throat game and it’s not for everyone.
I purchased a military truck 4 months ago. Payed $65.00 for title service. I waited almost 3 months to get the title. It was off by 2 numbers. My DMV said a bill of sale will do. I contacted Ritchi B. and they said no problem extra $25 even though I paid $3000.00 in auction fees. I will wait another 3 months to get a corrected title. To hell with you R.B. never again!
just bought from Richie,,, someone does run up online bids... lol...im kinda feeling good about my buys after seeing your rust bucket kubota... lucky for me i got my rust bucket from my dad... cheers ..
I have it completely disassembled and all the parts in a spreadsheet and I have pricing for everything. Comes in around 7k for parts. So I am on the fence if I should fix it up. These things still sell for an outrageous amount used. I am leaning towards fixing it just because it will make some interesting content. I bought a few other pieces of machinery and they are currently priority due to another awesome project I haven’t announced yet.
" a fool and his money are soon parted" . Bad break on the utv. Never spend more than you can afford to burn. would have been better with a private sale on other brands. But hind sight is 20/20. Cover with a homemade skidplate and send it down the road.
I’m not totally disagreeing with you. Just that they took some very artistic pictures for these items. In the past they showed rusted areas and were very open with damage. This was listed as operational, yet clearly this unit was not. The fact that they were also lifting them incorrectly and bending the main drive shaft was a surprise.
I guess I just trusted Richie Brothers to not try and hide the damage in pictures. I had luck in the past with them being transparent, but not this time!
Ya, I had such a negative experience and when I talked to a supervisor he was a kind of a dick about it. He had an opportunity to make it right, but he chose to have a snarky attitude about it. Not a big fan after that. Full disclosure I do have one more Richie Brothers video I will release at some point. This last auction I’m pretty sure I witnessed some corrupt business practices. Somehow a lot of the attachments I was bidding on, I was out bid on. Then I was there pretty much closing on the last pickup day. All the attachments I bid on were still there and they showed up again at the next auction. Seems a bit fishy to me!
They actually buy them from the company in China (that dude is Richie Brother’s) and have them shipped in by the container load. I don’t know what you paid on that one, but I know how much they sell for out of the factory with shipping. Always remember the cost on the 60”disc mulcher is around 3950.00. I would tell you what that trencher cost but I don’t want to hurt your feelings. So that is a pretty good title for your video. The 4 in 1 buckets 920.00, soil conditioner 1750.00, heavy duty brush cutter 2875.00, I’m setting here looking at the new updated price list from the factory they sent me. The factory is excellent to work with if you have any issues, they have Wharehouse in Chicago and California.
If you go to 13:50 in my video, I break down what I paid for everything. Thank you for the info. I would like to know more. Feel free to reach out to me via the email in the about section on RUclips.

Ya, I mean, yes I should have looked, but this was back in the early Covid times and it was harder to do. Also other auctions they had taken pictures of the bad stuff. I feel like there was a little bit of deceit on their part. Oh well. You live an learn.
@@Matt-lk6kr I mean, I can agree with you to a point. This particular auction it was clear they were masking the pictures to not show rust. I trusted RB as other auctions I watched showed the rust pictures. This unit also said it drove and everything ran fine. The was a lie and did not drive at all. RB was also damaging these units as they were picking them up from the drive shafts. We were also in the beginnings of Covid times and it was really hard to get an appointment for an inspection.
Bear in mind that a lot of the items you cannot see. All the stuff from Iron Planet you are not allowed to inspect. This includes all Sunbelt auctions H&E and more. Much of the stuff in the Richie yard you are not allowed to see at the orlando/davenport auction if the area is taped off and guests are excluded right before the auction date. I have driven 2 hours each way 4 times to see an item and could not and then there is a temptation to bid anyways from the pictures because you have invested so much in due diligence it is hard to walk away.

Treat every auction buy item like it has major issues. Once and while you will hit a jack pot. But the house has the odds. Always.
