    Excellent video! Thank you for posting. I always see people posting negative things about others' hard work. I think you guys did awesome. I have been practicing Kenpo for over 20 years and I certianly think you all did great! Thanks again.

    Nice to see one of Mr Parker's original black belts in action. All the best, Matt Snell - 5th degree Flaming Fist Kenpo, England.

    These men's stance changes are there all right. You would have a newfound respect for these men should you be in front of them. They can produce enormous power. Their hip articulation have been so refined that you don't see them as exaggeratedly as you once might.
    They can exact kata very well. I have been lucky enough to see it first hand.

      That's exactly right. Stance transitions aren't complete, but the power is still there. It aids speed using ornly partial transitions.

    @kenpokaratept well I can't explain it much simpler than I did. A person does not have to be a black belt in kenpo to recognize that someone is not using stance changes let alone proper stance changes. MMadude has valid points, while they may not be presented in the nicest manner he has valid points. Mr. Downey is (I'm sure) a great kenpoist, however no matter how many times I watch this video he does not pivot into a forward bow and neither does the other dude.

    @GohModley You see, i actually think it is. In the eyes of the law you have grounds for defense even when striking first, so long as you truly believed that the person or persons you struck were intent on causing you bodily harm. I understand where you are coming from but are you saying that we should all wait until the punch is thrown before we react by trying to defend it. i can live with myself as long as i don't continue to deliver retribution on my would be attacker. What is your take ?

  • @jimmybutler1379
    @jimmybutler1379 Год назад

    But you have to read your attacker and work against your attacker, they will not stand still in a fight to let you go through your kata on them, you will be changing up your methods one after another to win the fight ! never stop reading your attacker or you can lose the fight and if it is for your life there is no second time of trying to win the fight for your life !...

    @GohModley Hi, i obviously don't know you, so weather you could beet Mr Downey or not i have no idea. I feel that your philosophy of this art is different to many. I among many Kenpo practitioners understand the huge limitations of the art and all arts have them . Kenpo for the most part is self defence Mr Downey being a Kenpoist would not allow the confrontation to turn in to a duel or a ring fight. He would want to preempt you with quality strikes and leave, not allow you to get comfortable.

    Perhaps before criticize you should try to understand better body mechanics and tell me where you find all that transitions and bows in a MMA fight.
    Perhaps you should study more deeply Martial Arts and try to understand basic concepts has for instance "Mizu no Kokoro"

  • @KenpoGuyProductions
    @KenpoGuyProductions 14 лет назад

    for those of you trying to defend the actions of the people in this video, if your going to try to defend the art know the art!!! Good lord man.... Mmafighting, has valid points! and so do others, if it's not slapping then you wouldn't mind explaining the purpose for the rapid hands "rebounding" from the "slapped" portion of the body.... see how easy that was? I will wait and see what you post to attack this then we can have some serious discussion about what is going on. And I am a kenpoist!!!!

    @kenpokaratept If you chose to follow you own way you did very well, but again i never saw a clich a double leg or direct punches or high kicks or whatever agains knives and sticks.Yep my kingdon to see MMA against Knives and sticks

    look all the arts have good points but this is my issue with kenpo. where is the "maximum effect minimum effort", being dan grade level at jujitsu and wado ryu karate this to me just seems like alot of fancy and unecessery movement. if you had to deal with 2 or 3 opponents then this style (to me) seems utterly unrealistic.

      Well before you bad mouthed it why didn't you go attend a seminar, in other words close your mouth and open your mind and learn. .

  • @kenpokaratept
    @kenpokaratept  14 лет назад

    @KenpoGuyProductions Well dude. Let me see if i can explain you something. Many years before my team enter the world of kenpo, myself and my students where already in the world of Full Contact, Submission Fight and MMA (the original word is Vale Tudo) you know what this is? I was watching your videos, you do some nice things but obviously you don´t have the proper knowledge to evaluate mens like Donwey and Burgess.

    Please sir you really have to study Martial Arts and the meaning of learning a Martial Art. I already see many kenpo people fighting MMA, but i never saw a MMA person fighting in the street against weapons or with numeric inferiority, and thats the kingdom of a Martial Art, the street, not medals in an octagon.
    I follow some of your posts, It seems you have a not resolved problem with kenpo, perhaps you could not fit to the art and think that its art fault.

    35 years doing this fantasy ...everyone is trying to be a self made
    grand master . ABSOLUTELY USELESS 1980's choreographed fighting . A
    natural trained
    boxer or BJJ would end that in seconds...these 1980s guys are washed up
    with their fantasy arts...it never seems to amaze me how they keep
    training in this nonsense for their life and don't realize how stupid it
    is or how restarted they look dancing around doing this nonsense
    slapping people and the Uke is just going along with it.

    He's great at what does and it will work on most people, but someone close a Brock Lesner type would kill him. While these techniques would devastate the average thug it would just be to hard to hurt Lesner with any of this expect for eye & groin shots, easier said than done :))

    • @jason3000ize
      @jason3000ize 6 лет назад +1

      That's what against a Brock Lesnar you would attack the eyes/nose/throat and groin, doesn't matter how big someone is if they can't see you or breath they can't fight period.

      that's like saying - there is no point learning golf - because you can't beat tiger woods. why do people pick one of the best fighters in the world and say=you could never beat him lol ? guess what- you're not going to hav to fight brock lesner.
