I'm not an American Kenpo stylist but I've always had great respect especially for the oold school Parker black belts like Trejo, Planas, Kelly, Mills, Chapel, Hebler, etc. Those guys were fast and lethal, most still are.
everytime somebody discounts kenpo i point them to mr. mills. this is in my opinion the top shelf of the art. i call it the "violent sneeze". he cracks that whip like nobodies buisness!
It is just the selection. We have specific plans to show certain aspects of what we do in the AKKI and want to share. You may see some in the future. Thanks for the comment. Alan Jacob
As impressed as I have been with the other clips, there was always a little bit of doubt in my mind as to the effectiveness of the rate of speed involved. Well, after hearing Mr. Mills explain what he is doing that doubt is seriously diminished. Gives the term "speed kills" a new context. Although, let us not forget the reason that Mr.Mills and others of his caliber are as fast as they are because they are accurate and powerful first and foremost. Definitely something to aspire to.
I've seen comments on "slapping himself" and have to say that many people just have a tendency to be ignorant. If you listen to Master Mills, he clarifies the concept behind the slapping. I would like to see any of you who doubt his power or speed to put yourself on the receiving end of Master Mills. I am not a AK stylist, but I have the greatest respect and admiration for GM Parker and his Senior Students.
Thanks for the interest! Anyone interested in finding an AKKI studio near them can send me an email through RUclips. Let me know your name, city, state and your email. I will then forward it to the right AKKI regional rep in your area. We're working to add a list on the site to help streamline this for everyone in the near future. -- Ryan
@jgrove004 Absolutely. Those strikes come from launch pads - i.e., strikes from key points of origin. It aids in the apparent explosiveness that he has, as opposed to a complete lack of convincing power that many practitioners of most arts seem to suffer from.
Yes the slapping thing always gets me too-I'd invite ANYONE!!! to let him "slap" them just once- I dont care who you are. He's a big guy, he's fast, and he can knock you out!!
actaully hitting his own shoulder is not to make a noise or a cheating the technique it's to show that arm can apply a thrusting punch (or any other tecniques fits to that position)...
It's a shame you feel that way, but it exposes your level of knowledge, and tells me you don't hit very hard. Even traditional boxers "reciprocate" forward motion.
@PrsFenderJackson1980 heh, i know what you mean..underated shot. got one once that made my knees come UP to my chest, then i dropped.think it cleansed 3 years of bad food in 2 seconds
he's not really fast...you just get confused by the sound...one of his 3 hits is just a hit to his own shoulder so it's sounds faster...watch it without sound

Excellent work. All the Kenpo world should be extremely grateful for your work.

demonstrates the rapidity of kenpo strikes. never ceases to increase my fascination with the art.

the guy at 3:00 is my instructor!!! hell yeah! Carroll County Kenpo!
When he slaps himself that is called opposing forces. This creates extreme power in the strike. Later
I have been hit by him before and it's real. He is very fast and he strikes him self for a couple reasons
Dammn that old man can bust your ass...lol

Wow. Very impressive.
Is that Mike Guercio taking the beating in the early part of the clip?
Really hurts to have the same spot hit over and over again, lol.

It is.
Why not go to his website and email him.
Can anyone tell me where I can get the whole video/DVD. I went to the website but no sign of it?
