Larry Tatum is the real deal, all the techniques are meaningful like I learned in the 80s and 90s. I was at a seminar with Jeff Speakman who said that Parker trained four of his top students in, Tatum might have been one of them, before he died to raise concerns that there were too many instructors teaching flashy techniques chasing speed, which are impressive in demonstrations but almost meaningless. Unfortunately the internet is full of that, so having this comprehensive video from an authentic Kenpo instructor is priceless.
I love Mr. Tatum when he strikes or even you feel his weight transfer and moves the opponent. Chuck Sullivan said when Ed parker moved the whole floor moved each block each strike had that power, that connection to ground, checking of height, width and depth and subtle unbalancing due to that which keeps doesn't give opponents any opportunities to attack back
Greetings to ALL loyal kenpo practitioners of those kenpo instructors I have been following Larry from the80s I have much respect for him following the true way of kenpo his execution and simplicity of knowledge of this great style. Peace Family

Tatum is the utmost best in Kenpo the speed, power, and precision he shows in the techniques are unbelievable! I wish they had the names and modifications of the rest of the videos in this one, they are pretty cool and would give the student/practitioner a better idea of what and why of the techniques. I think it would be a great idea if Tatum and Speakman 5.0 got together and put their ideas into a better Kenpo system for the world to see.
Heard this guy is like the Ed Parker protégé he's one of the greats in kenpo. When I was a lower degree black belt I would always work on my speed and timing when practicing my application
@@ghazanfaryaq6776 - By the time you are a black belt in Kenpo/Kempo you aren't applying the moves by rote, they serve the basis for problem solving each attack as it unfolds. There's something about Kenpo that doesn't jive with me. It's difficult to say.. something about the movements. It' as if somebody sprinkled a little "Hollywood" into the moves. Maybe it's something like pro wrestling, where there are moves that are theatrical but would still be powerful if they connected. But I've never taken Kenpo so I can't say I disapprove. I'd have to take some classes to make a real decision. I do like their idea of multiple strikes.
That's the difference techniques only give you an idea of what you can do if situations change you should be knowledgeable enough to flow to other movements training vs street not many understand the facts you learn what you need then adjust accordingly to situations.
For the guy who made a negative remark without understanding the process that students have to be taught. after years of training and many repititons learning goes from the ideal phase when you start than the what if and then to spontaneous where the student learns to simply move from technique to technique being able to graft movements together while operating on a totally sub conscious level simply reacting and changing as needed.
