Thanks for taking us on the adventure Smokey. The reason you keep having bird nest in your reel is because you don't have your thumb on the line. Keeping gentle tension when you cast. I assume you have adjusted the break and other settings.. I would get rid of that rod real. That real is way too complicated for me anyway lol. I like catfishing the best. Stink bait, chicken, liver, worms whatever throw it out. Weigh down your pole, sit back and get ripped. If you use chicken liver, use elastic thread to keep it on the hook. Looking forward to the next adventure, stay ripped! Oh by the way, are you paddling across that huge Lake without a life preserver. That could be a huge maybe get at least a pool noodle. Stay safe, and you get healed up.
@@chrisalbright5669 Yooo!! Thanks for watching and yes lol I have a life vest, I keep it in my back compartment. I’ll move it though to have easier access. I’m trying to figure out how to add things to the kayak like holders and such but don’t know where to start. Also, yes catfishing is easier and I like it as well, I really really wanna catch other fish. I’ll start using my finger though, thank you for letting me know that cause I didn’t know lol. That’s going to help me out a lot now. Cheers and hope you have a great week!!
For a rod holder you can buy one that clamps to the top of your kayak. Or just cut a 2-in piece of PVC pipe about a foot long and zip, tie it to your pack or something that will hold your hole upright.
@@jayray720 thank you for watching and yeah it was a relaxing time forsure. Just a little panic being out there sometimes in the middle of the lake lol
Awesome vibes bro, that lake looks amazing and like Chris said if you keep your thumb on the spool when you cast you won’t birdsnest as much. I’d also recommend holding the rod right at the reel instead of all the way at the bottom, that way when you do get a fish you won’t have the chance of losing your rod and it’ll be easier to “thumb the spool” so you won’t birdsnest. Also when you cast you can leave 6-24 inches of line hanging down that way when you cast you can really whip the rod and it’ll go a lot further. I started fishing about a year ago and had to learn all this the hard way just hoping I can help speed up the learning process! And if you ever wanna try new lures I’d recommend looking up how to fish those plastic worms it’s super easy and is my go to lure when I can’t catch one.
@@richytherippa667 thank you for watching and thank you so much for all this advice. You’ll definitely see me start adding what you said. I definitely need to get more lures and such to try out. I’d love to catch something other than a catfish lol. Cheers and happy trails!
Try live worms! And maby hold on to the rod a bit more like put your hand closer to the reel… just in case you catch a biggen and it’s rips the rod out of your hand 😅😂😂…an anker would help keep you stationary while trying to fish… looking forward to more videos 🔥💪🏾
@@WalkingForChange1 thank you so much for watching!! definitely you’ll see a technique change in the rod holding. Live worms and just a hook? How do I send the line far if the worm is not heavy enough? These are the things I’m trying to learn lol. Cheers and Happy trails!
@@SmokeyDukems yes worm and a hook Maby size 8 hook. If you need to send the line out a ways try a couple split shots about 6 inches to a foot above the hook. Also a small bobber will send it out a ways. These are things I use while fishing from a kayak or bank fishing I’m not the best but it works!
bong rips on the lake 🔥🔥🔥
