Every time I get stuck on how to do a frame you post the solution! I have a civil war letter that is two sided I want to make a frame for. So is the currency just “floating” between the two pieces of Mylar or is it fixed in place?
Hi Shantel, how funny! First off, the only product you can use to sandwich something is Mylar. In this case, just the static electricity held that small piece in place. If it’s a larger piece, what you would do is, once you get it centered in the Mylar you would take a soldering iron with a very very fine tip. Without hitting the piece, Make a small dot in all four corners on the Mylar. This will hold the piece in place. If you don’t have a soldering iron like that you could heat up the point of an awl with a lighter. The awl might be a better place to start. This technique was taught to me by Seth Irwin, who is a great Conservator. If you have any questions, please call me.
