Reminded me a lot of Invincible when he first tried saving some old women and she got absolutely destroyed because he flew into something to fast, glad he took it better than Homelander
Maybe because people supported and consoled invincible but condemed and blamed homelander. Also their upbringing so far had been wildly different of course but I definitely see the simile you're referring to.
@@001100AAAEA No one condemned or blamed Homelander for accidentally killing the hostage before he killed everyone. He ended up killing everyone because he couldn't handle their hate/fear of him.
@@carrela1000 exactly - Homelander was told anything he does is either perfect or just the weight of a supe throwing around a world that isn’t strong enough, removing him from the concept of accountability
I’m pretty sure that old lady was already hurt before Mark tried to save her, but Mark did accidentally make the injuries worse. Mark also did get her to a hospital, which I’m assuming helped her survive until the end of that episode
@@carrela1000 wdym? They gave him shit for the gun thing and that's before he went psycho on them at which point even the hostage feared him he was just irredeemable at that point ..
I dig how this episode ties into the Noir storyline in season 3. Nicely done!
This episode is very reminiscent of Homelander’s past in the comic. Like in the episode In the comic Homelander wanted to be an actual hero but due to his faulty training (and upbringing in general) he was shown to be quite incompetent and would mess up a lot. Vought always covered it up and thus he continued to be loved. This lack of personal consequences slowly turned him cold, uncaring and cruel thus making him into the evil bastard we know in the present. It’s quite sad since if he had been put in different circumstances he could have been Superman.
Something interesting is that in the show Homelander always refers to black noir as “his good friend” in public and in private he is seemingly the only seven member he has no beef with. Really sad to think the only person close to actually being his friend is mute psychopath who never shows his face.
So, fun fact about this short. Most of Diabolical is meant to be non-canonical, but Erik Kripke, the showrunner of the boys, was so impressed with this short, he made it canon to the show. And I believe Simon Racioppa, the showrunner of the Invincible animated series, was involved in the production of this short too.
How does he simply "make this canon"?
@@unitedstatesofamerica9948 he just does
yea man, they literally talk about that ^^ not just this episode either they mention the two others
Also that one episode that’s animated like the comics is canon, but to the comics. Which is cool.
This is my favourite episode of the series because it really shows how vought completely fucked homelander.
I know he did horrible things.. but I'm really empathetic towards him in this episode.
I genuinely think he didn't mean to kill everyone first off. But obviously when he knows he can get away with it and his ratings increase, he becomes corrupt and murderous xD
@@kraazexjoker1874 oh yes absolutely.
The only think homelander wants it's to be loved.. he was raised " like a fucking lab rat". (Quoting him)
But people either treat him like a god out of fear.. or like a monster. That's why he respects butcher so much because he doesn't give a flying fuck how powerful he is... he's probably the only person in the world that treats him like a human being.(kinda 😅)
When you think about it... Looking at the way vought raised him.. I actually think he turned out pretty great.. lmao..
The only thing saving humanity is that he's completely broken and needs this constant and pathetic need to be adored and loved.
It's kinda sad actually.
@@kikaGama98 Homelander needs people to either love him or fear him. He seems to have a real issue dealing with people who hate him but do not fear him. It's why Butcher and the Boys are such a problem for him. He could murder them at any time but their deaths would not fuel his ego. Homelander had no issue abusing Maeve while she was afraid of him but starts to tip-toe around he as soon as she loses her fear of him. Stillwell was scared of him so he killed her. Edgars is not afraid of him so Homelander let him walk away.
A boy tortured, going through trauma all his life and then putting him in the world makes him DANGEROUS.
ANYONE doing his job needs to know how to exercise extreme discipline in mitigating collateral damage, whereas they didn't advise him on a damn thing.
He chose to be a monster but what he went through makes it incomprehensibly difficult not to be.

Loved this one, Vought screwed up Homelander. It also reminded us how Black Noir is an OG, he knew how to play it when he saw Homelander lose it (also batman v superman ref, I think Noir can take homelander). A small thing was they called Homelander a fascist before he even did anything, the perception of heroes was already there and he could have possibly been different if they would let him do his whole spill (maybe).
Oh for sure dude, for sure, homelander could've been way better but vought just decided to run with and on top of that nobody told him that what he did was wrong,so yeah fuck vought for screwing up homelander.
this episode hits different after season 3 finale
This is one of the two canon episodes, the other was the Nubian husband and wife episode
I really liked how Homelander at first, genuinely seemed to want to be a hero and not actually hurt people but then the moment one thing went wrong it started the downward spiral he is still in by the time of the live action show
It really highlights his fragile mental state that was caused by his horrific childhood that we saw glimpses of here
Homelander may be a despicable villain but there are moments where you can't help but feel both sympathy for him for what he's been through and empathy so you understand why he is what he is and does what he does.
He's still a villain, not even one of those villains that you semi root for like Pain from Naruto, not a likeable psycho like the Joker.
Homelander is just an example of humanity's worst traits and he was created by other people to be that way.
Homelander is humanity's karma reflected back on itself and that's why he's one or my favourite villain ever
Episode 7 is also canon according to Eric Kripke.
@@Grunkle2210 And the one with the V lotion too I guess since Ashley is in it. I think it's ep 4
The last three episodes are canon, not just two
*This is one of the 3, maybe 4, canon episodes

The fact that y'all released this reaction on this day just fits so perfectly
4:10 And this is why i believe that Homelander has DID.
Which is supported by that scene in episode 6 of season 3
With the abuse he clearly went through as a child. Hell, even JUST the severe neglect he went through could develop DID. 100%.
Black Noir seems to be strong enough to beat starlight physically, run faster than a car, can tank homemade IEDs and that one terrorist supe. It's kinda like Superboy from young justice.
A general super human but really fucking efficient if Edgar's reliance on him in S2 says anything
The show version seems like Deadpool
Well in the comics noir actually kills homelander idk if he will in the show also in the comics noir is a clone of homelander and not his own person like in the show so noir could take him I think
I feel this episode really shows how strong Anthony Starr is on camera and how he’s just not the same here, despite this being early on in the character
Yes!! Hes just a great actor all around!
The timing is perfect after this is the finally of seasons 3
Hits different affter last night
''Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don't. Almond Joy's got nuts; Mounds don't''. You guys reminded me of the old advert.
Watched 'em all. This was probably the best one. Who the fuck was that turd episode for? Seriously?
"Maybe he's not bad until he turns bad later"- Aaron 2022
Fun fact! Every time someone starts their comment with "fun fact" it's always something everyone already knows, it's been mentioned in 10 other comments, and the Crew literally talked about during their post reaction. Lol. Oh well, it's good for their "engagement" numbers.
You’re not wrong. They aren’t here to watch the video, they want to flex what they think they know.
I hate who lined this up before the finale. Still not over it
After Season 3 Episode 8, this hurts
Homelander in the beginning had a very classic friendly Superman approach before he kept fucking up and went crazy because he was stressed out and has a temper
This is canon along with John and Sun-Hee and Nubian vs Nubian
I like to think this episode is partially canon to the universe of the live action show. I also see episode 3 being a partially canon side story to the comic series.
It has been confirmed that is is indeed canon
this episode, the nubian v nubian episode and the 7th episode have been confirmed to be canon in the shows universe
Here madelyn says noir was there to bring him in if anything didn’t go according to plan. Why would she say that?? I think Noir although not a clone, might be able to take homelander. You don’t say that if you know for sure. And these episodes are canon so it happened
First of all, you comment says it's 13 days old, and the video has only been out an hour so far. Wack.
Second. Noir can't take homelander in this universe.
@@theelderworm9134 :(
Black noir being related to butcher was never a story beat. It’s not even an idea anyone had. It makes zero sense.
There were definitely theories floating around during season 2 that Black Noir was Lenny.
This episode is so great because you can see Homelander actually trying to be a hero, but immediately plunges into the dark
The fact that Homelander killed a group of people trying to save others fmu
Hi
When I saw your video on my YT main page, for a second I thought it was an early reaction to 3x8 of the main The Boys show, but it's only Diabolical, and I haven't watched it yet, so I can't watch you guys react to it. Oh, man! Can't wait to see your faces during tomorrows reaction. :)
Can y’all please react to LEGEND-A Dragon Ball Tale created by Agent Mystery Meat. It’s the best fan made film.
SPOILERS!! I really don't get how homelander goes from this to doing what happened in the last episode of season 3.
4:13 if the TV show goes with homlander having a clone that would explain this
Mounds are dark chocolate and coconut
Almond joy are milk chocolate almonds and coconut
This one looks like Avengers Assemble cartoon
Man reactors need to watch Heroes! If they all haven't already seen it.
Thanks, Eric! Thanks, Rick! Thanks, Calvin! Thanks, Aaron! 🦸♀️
I feel like i've watched this episode before, like Dejavu
I think they mixed up Elizabeth Shue with Lea Thompson
Shue was in adventures in babysitting and she plays stillwell
Thompson was in howard the duck
Well they were both at back to the future so
@@ahmedmakki3638 not gonna lie forgot shue was in BTTF i was still thinking of Malora Hardin
She was in the second and third part
How Homelander became Homelander
Been waiting so long for this one
They tried to make fun of Superhero tropes but ended up making fun of themselves. A gun will never explode with that heat. And even if it didn't the blast wouldn't even have enough power to blow your fingers off much less another persons head.
And a man wouldn't shoot lasers from his eyes. It's fiction.
For me what it's missing is nuanced human performances. Far more engaging then some cartoon.
It's amazing how people love episode 7 and for me it was the worst one, I even fell asleep during this episode (which for me happened like 3 times, on Suicide Squad and on Deadpool).
See??I knew homelander wasn't bad from the start,he was stupid af and he didn't know that the gun would explode but he was not bad, until that moment aka his very first mission.
Homelander is without a doubt a terrible person, but this really made me feel for him and even feel sorry for him. He is a monster, but it is Vought who made that monster.
