They run as free as they possibly could. I love sonic youth because of how much diversity, unique sound and amazing footage they put out. They really do what they want. Not what the people would want.
They're kind of all pop songs. That's why the shit works where other feedbacky dissonant bands sound like shit, it's just weird pop. That's not a bad thing at all
The most conventional songs are Thurston's. Sugar Kane, Diamond Ring, Superstar. Kim might sound a little more pop in Little Trouble Girl, but mostly she brings the raw vocals. I prefer her songs tbh.

They toured with Ween and The Flaming Lips after this album. I got my husband to take me to see them in Syracuse and Buffalo. It was absolutely incredible. They were especially great and he’s also been a big fan ever since. We absolutely love this album.

The whole of Rather Ripped is great
Yeah this one's a gem for sure. This, Incinerate and Pink Steam are probably the best off of Rather Ripped. Maybe Rats too.
