I've been struggling with a week slice with my driver. I have watched several videos on how to correct it and your video was the only one that worked! The thought of of the 'toe of the face overtaking' is what did it. I found that my wrists were too inactive in my swing and the 'toe' thought did it. Thank you!!
Alister, that is absolutely the truth. I have done this myself intuitively to stop hitting to next hole fairways. I closed the face ever so slightly and drew back my trail foot by roughly 2 inches, not more. I got baby draws with about 250 yds carry @ 97mph clubhead speed and 147 mph ball speed. I am 58y old and have only started Golf 2 years ago. If I can do that, anybody can.....
Great lesson. Played a two day tournament on M-Tu. Drove the ball well. Only missed one drive. Saved $150 on a lesson after watching this video. Thanks! Cheers!
I have a left to right ball flight for 20 + years 😳 I dropped my back foot back and instant results! It works. All fader/slicers must do this ! Thanks Ali Taylor. Enjoying the game much more…
I drop my trail foot behind me and think about swinging the club out to “right field” as if I was a baseball player. The idea of getting the toe to overtake heel is something I need to work into my swing as well.
My golf coach is trying to get my feet setup like this. I hit it pretty straight. Mentally, with my feet like this, throws me off...but I'm working on it.
Hi Ali, I have just come across this video about slicing and can I say this is the best technical explanation I have ever come across.Thank you for putting it out there on youtube.I finally now understand how the swing works and have a starting point to resolve my problem.
I’m a lefty who swings the clubs righty. My slice is so dramatic, i always thought it was because of my dominant hand was on the bottom. So I would open my stance almost like a batter at the plate. But do you think I should close my stance? I’m 60 years and I’ve used right handed clubs all my life. I’m not sure if it too late for me to switch to left handed.
I'm not a fan of manipulating anything during the swing. Looking at your numbers the difference between "straight, fade and draw" is only about ten degrees of arc. In a one point five (1.5) second swing where the point five is transition to finish, you could roll your arms / hands / wrists through a huge arc. How do you time it perfectly? Sorry, I try to make my swing hit the "positions" in a nice smooth flow of wind-up and let it go to finish. It's all based on correct set-up and ball position. Use an impact bag to check if the club face is open at impact, and if it is change your grip and ball position PRIOR to the swing so that when you return to impact the club is not open. Good luck to all who attempt to get that club face toe moving to the exact position...if it's off a bit you now have a quarter second to maneuver back to a square impact.
After you shuffle your feet and shoulders to the right, should the clubface be square to target line or slightly open, but closed to the path?. Thanks from a new subscriber.
i can draw the driver but it kills my Lumbar, Spondylolisthesis is the cause but also trying hit the ball a tad too hard inflames the situation. Not a good feeling.
I thought I was the only person thats addresses the ball like that .I can get through the ball and hit the ball longer .I see the guys looking at me as if I'm bad, then they see me hit way bye them, lol 😂
I know all this, and other than you telling us to jus feel the toe coming round this do not really help be on how to close the club face at inpact, just tellin me to "feel it" isnt a lesson.

That first shot..as my drive but I can hit it even with a right lean about 260 consistently

Ali, to get the toe overtaking the heel, are you twisting the grip at the start of the downswing into impact?
Nobody really ever explains how you do it

Not only does it help the slice, it's also a deeper, more stable platform for your upper body to help accuracy.
How do you get the toe of the club overtake the heal??
I think you’re supposed to flick your wrists just a moment before making contact with the ball, almost like if you were skipping a stone
Tried this at the course yesterday and had good effect. Now I just need to get distance.

Yes. Agree 100%
I was told to move my left shoulder more square as I was open .I'm now hitting it longer but could still do with extra off tee.
Yep totally agree on fixing club face first. Might get some pulls but then fix swing path. I was totally opposite of this. I had to go the other way.

Great tip! But now that I’m hooking the ball, how do I straighten it out. Lol

On set up, is club face square to target?
I would go with face...4 degrees open ..path 8 degrees open ... examp.e.. one minute on a clock hand is 6 degrees . 3 o'clock is 90 degrees.
Did I miss the part on how to get the toe of the driver ahead of the heel??
I've tried this and it works great for a few swings, then I start hitting it straight right because my feet are lined up that way
Ali where is the ball located on your front foot?
Don't just drop the foot back. Shuffle the entire body round to the right in this case. The opposite is true if you want to hit a fade.
This is a good video to work on problem and slowly bring body back to nuetral over time.
Funny thing is I started setting up slightly open and I’m driving it straighter and higher than ever keeping the hooks away.
Congrats, bucketlist!!!
wOw! Same swing speed; Drastically different carry distances!
I thought I was the only person thats addresses the ball like that .I can get through the ball and hit the ball longer .I see the guys looking at me as if I'm bad, then they see me hit way bye them, lol 😂
Well I broke my driver so I doubt this will fix it
😂

This tip is as old as the hills 😅
But still a good one 👍
Ali the video quality not the best mate 😉
Yo Ali, your kid has just been slapped at rocket league, teach him how to play golf, he’s bound to be better at that
I would be delighted 200+ with bit draw .gonna take this to range and see how i get on thanks
